Green Yew is an impressive newly refurbished 18th century farmhouse located in the little village of Winster, just a short distance from Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria.

You enter into an open-plan living space which serves as the hub of the home.
Fitted with a kitchen, a dining space for enjoying meals and a sitting area with a woodburning stove to keep you nice and toasty on a cold winter night.
For those longer stays, the farmhouse is fitted with a utility room with a washing machine and dryer which ensures your needs are met, especially after a long mountain hike!
There are several bathrooms and shower rooms to make sure there are never any morning rushes.
After a day of adventures in the vast countryside, take a much-needed dip in the bath to wash away any aching muscles.
Or for something a bit quicker, enjoy a steamy rinse down in the spacious shower.
When it's time to rest, there are plenty of bedrooms offering a range of sleeping arrangements.
Choose from three super king-size bedrooms or a twin where you can catch your rest before heading out nice and fresh the next day.
Watch the sun rise from the patio area with a nice roasted coffee or explore the two acres of gardens that surround the area.

What an amazing house.
Perfect location and high quality. Everything you couls possibly need has been provided for you. Literally a home from home. High quality linen, really clean, warm and cosy. Brilliant walks from your doorstep but located perfectly for exploring the Lakes. Cannot recommend the Black Horse 200 yards from the front door. Be sure to book as it is always busy. We had to get in touch with the agent to reset the fire alarm which was really the only down point of the holiday. Slow to respond and rather protracted when we finally spoke to someone. Not really sure if the call handler really understood what we needed.
We are a group of friends who met at Nottingham University in the not entirely auspicious October of 1962 and we have been meeting at locations across England for an annual reunion for a number of years.
This year we went to Green Yew and had a splendid week in a very comfortable and well-appointed house, decorated with impeccable taste. We do seem to have been a bit unlucky over the years with central heating systems, possibly because we gather at roughly the time that the systems need to start working again after the summer warmth has rendered them redundant and we were never entirely sure that we had the heat pump operated underfloor heating working to full capacity despite two visits from an engineer. There was certainly no problem with hot water, which was abundant, but it would have been good to have had the house slightly warmer at night. The lighting is perhaps too sophisticated for its own good. That aside it would be very difficult to find fault with the house, the beds were comfortable, the duvets magnificent, the kitchen full of equipment and we were grateful for the generous welcome pack from the owners. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery. As has often been our experience, by the end of the season, wine glass collections become somewhat eclectic as previous tenants replace breakages with different glasses but our wine-drinking was not adversely affected! The area is, of course, very beautiful and we found plenty to do on days when the weather was not conducive to walks but we did have the most glorious day on our first Saturday. We had two very good meals at the Brown Horse just a short step away though the service on the second occasion was rather slow. Anno domino suggests that this will be the last time we shall gather together but, if that is the case, we could not have chosen a better location or property for this year’s reunion.
Green Yew is a beautiful property and we had a lovely 3 week stay.
The beds were comfortable and the house was very well equipped. There was a dog crate available for use and that saved us having to bring that bulky piece of equipment (however we only knew this because our family arrived over a couple of days so this might be helpful for someone else to know) Two sitting rooms were a great addition when the World Cup was on and not everyone wanted to watch football!! We had a nice welcome pack on arrival. The property was clean and comfortable. In terms of feedback it would be that over our 3 week stay we had no change of linen/towels which was disappointing as previously in Sykes properties we had this. In addition an enclosed area to allow the dogs to be able to potter would have been good and for other dog owners it would be helpful to know that there are sheep in the surrounding fields and so the dogs really do need to be adequately restrained at all times. I would however wholeheartedly recommend this house for a multigenerational holiday
