“Although overall the 4 of us enjoyed our stay at Pheasants Folly and felt comfortable in the main, there were many things that were not to the standard we expected.”

As regular users of Sykes we always look for something special, with quality furnishings and luxury facilities, but despite the description and photos suggesting that was what we would get, there were numerous disappointments. Upon our arrival the first impressions of the paintwork on the exterior of the property were of it being run down. As regular users of Sykes we always look for something special, with quality furnishings and luxury facilities, but despite the description and photos suggesting that was what we would get, there were numerous disappointments. Upon our arrival the first impressions of the paintwork on the exterior of the property were of it being run down. (I do have photos of this) The garden was largely inaccessible with no parasols to screen us from the sun, so were unable to make use of the outdoor seating area as we had planned. The loose slabs, tired pots and borders made the garden look uncared for. We were not told about the building work going on next door and the constant loud noise we would hear every week day . Although builders were very cooperative when we asked them to move their vehicles from our drive to enable access to our premises, there was never any apology or prior notification of the inconvenience, disruption & noise from the grounds of the property next door. The shower doors in both en suites did not fit/close so water escaped. The bathroom floors were soaked and with poor/no ventilation there was an unpleasant smell in both rooms. The bedrooms were uncomfortably warm with no fans for cooling. Toilet roll holder hanging off the wall in one en-suite & towel holder hanging off the wall in downstairs cloakroom. Wall light not working in lounge, cushions, one sofa & throws were tired & well worn. Hallway “window seats” gave a miserable first impression. The kitchen utensils and oven trays were greasy. We had paid well in excess of £2000 for a week in early July & this is most definitely not the level we would have expected for that price range. We did make several attempts to phone Sykes at the beginning of the holiday to express our concerns but unfortunately never managed to get through to speak to anyone. It was such a shame to be so disappointed over so many aspects of our much anticipated holiday accommodation.
