Lovely, large property within walking distance to Bowness and ample parking.

We found the accommodation to be clean and warm, and just the right amount of space for our group. Thankyou Judith for calling to check everything was ok, and for the welcome bottle of Prosecco.

Really lovely cottage .

Lots of space and great value for money . We were a couple, but there was room for 6 . Short walk into town and loads of options for food and pubs.

Owners was great in dealing with a heating problem the day we arrived and it was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

The house was very clean and the kitchen is particularly well equipped. Location is ideal for access to Lake and surrounding area. TV's in bedrooms are very small and didn't really serve any purpose as 2 of the remotes didn't work. Some of furniture old and needs upgrading. However, we had a lovely 2 weeks and the house is very comfortable anytime of the year.

Very comfortable beds and lovely fluffy towels. Excellent to have such good parking too at the property. Very pretty location. Kind of Judith to ring us to make sure that everything was OK Our grandson age 2 enjoyed himself and we would love to return but would advise a stair gate as the banister is very low at the top of the stairs,easily climbable if you were not aware that a little one had gone up and also the lock on the bathroom doors needs to be higher as it is not the type that can be unlocked from outside. Other than that, a brilliant stay. Thank you so much.

Excellent location, that was the only thing going for it, we were very disappointed and left early.

Not a relaxing stay. The whole place needs a deep clean, inside and out. Bedroom pillows were old and lacked stuffing and badly needed replacing, fusty smell in the downstairs bedrooms that our guests complained of. The sheets were marked and stained. Chopping boards in the kitchen were disgusting. Kettle leaked. The gutters leaked really badly front and back, broken furniture in the rear garden, bbq was unusable, even after I attempted to clean it. The whole place needs some serious maintenance and cleaning, weeds everywhere front and back. Owner notified and complaint sent to Sykes.

Comfortable holiday accommodation, but lounge is not adequate for 6 people

The Nook certainly met all our expectations.

From arriving, following a kind phone call from Judith, the owner, to leaving 7 days later, we enjoyed every moment of our holiday, to celebrate a special birthday. Everything we needed had been thought of: a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds in spacious bedrooms, a cosy living and dining room and plenty of hot water and warm heating. The house is in a great location. Peaceful, but near enough to walk into Bowness with all its amenities. A choice of two areas to enjoy the outside in good weather with ample seating and tables are available. Judith was quick to respond and very helpful when I had a question (this was not regarding any problem or negative issue with the house at all). The personal approach was much appreciated. Would we return again? Yes, definitely! All in all, a perfect week. Thank you Judith.

This cottage is in a very quiet area in an ideal position for Bowness and Windermere.

It’s a very roomy cottage except for the lounge/dining room especially for six guests. The upstairs bedroom is ideal to retreat to, it’s large and self contained with its own bathroom facilities. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Our only negatives would be the lack of coat hangers for the three bedrooms - and the duvets for the two bedroom downstairs were not very substantial especially for winter stays. The owner called us before arriving to inform us of different phone numbers if we had problems, thankfully we didn’t but it was very much appreciated. With that said we’d happily book the cottage again when visiting the Lake District.

The only small comment would be lack of slip mat in showers Other than that an excellent cottage well positioned in a quite peaceful location They even organise good weather if you ask nicely

The Nook was a very cute and homely property we stayed for a week and had a wonderful time it's a really good location as a base and in walking distance to lake boweness.

There were a couple of negatives like there was a lot of cobwebs hanging around and the microwave made a strange noise when being used but I think the good outweighed them. The property was ideal for my daughter as she's in a wheelchair so 2 bedroom downstairs worked very well for us, We would stay at the Nook again

Thank you to the owner who managed to organise a short notice stay when I had to be moved to The Nook from my original accommodation. Cottage was well appointed, clean, comfortable and a great location for access to Bowness and the cruise boats. Definitely a home from home. I would certainly recommend.

It was perfect for us, location, layout, and the feather duvets were so cosy!

The property is lovely and was clean and tidy. The 10 min walk into Bowness although downhill (so uphill back) was just right. We’ll definitely be booking again in the future.

So disappointed with this cottage.

The whole of the property could do with a full deep clean. It was surface clean only. Skirting boards, doors, handrails, ledges, underneath the stairs and washing machine were all dirty. Also all the radiators could do with a clean as they were full with dust. In the Kitchen, the microwave was making an unusual noise when turning off, and the toaster needs a good clean. ( toast crumbs all stuck inside the toaster) The kettle was also leaking. In the downstairs bathroom, behind the toilet and sink was dirty, and only the small flush was working. Also you need a shower mat in the bath, it was very slippy when having a shower. Falls could quite easily happen. In the twin bedroom downstairs the tv was not working ( even after checking the batteries ) In the double bedroom downstairs, there were tiny flies all on the windowsill, and behind the bed was very dusty. The TV in the lounge had only 5 basic channels and 2 children’s channels. Although there were dvd’s in the cupboard there was no dvd player. The children were so disappointed. Finally no visitors book, or tourists information leaflets. Sorry to say this was the worst cottage I have ever been in.

Spotlessly clean. Great location. Well equipped. We were lucky enough to be there the weekend of a very heavy snowfall and had a magical experience.

We have stayed at the nook for 5yrs in a row now.

Its a wonderful cottage ( house ) in an excellent location only about a 10 minute walk from the centre of bowness. We will definitely be booking again.

We had a fantastic stay at The Nook - lovely cottage with a well-equipped kitchen, large bedrooms and an easy walk down to the town & lake with a 1 year old.

The layout of the property was very spacious for a family with a toddler.

The two Downstairs bedrooms and bathroom were easily accessible. Living room was comfortable with a TV and dining table. Very creaky downstairs floorboards which made moving around the house tricky during night time with a toddler. The kitchen had all the fittings needed for days/nights in when needed. 10minutes walk to Bowness main centre

Great location for everything you need and walking into Bowness (10mins) plus driving to attractions and activities.

Spacious cottage and well equipped. We needed maintenance help on 2 occasions but this was just 'one of those things' that could have happened at anytime - we think a power cut effected the dishwasher and shower but a very friendly 'JP' came out asap and kept in contact with us with what was happening, the owner also very kindly rang to apologise etc which was appreciated and a lovely thing to do. We found the beds super comfy and the down duvets lovely and warm. We felt the kitchen and bathroom could have been cleaner but understand there is only so much that can be done with the turn around so frequent during Aug. We also felt it would have been nice to have loo, and kitchen rolls and bin liners (enough to cover the week & in the bathroom bins) plus some cleaner left as we needed to pop out to the shops straight away to get a few supplies even though we did come with all sorts of kitchen bits we did expect those basics as this was a higher end pay bracket. The Bar B Que and grill pan was in a state so we cooked our burgers inside which was a shame but I guess that's down to the visitors that stay and not the owner. A lovely cottage, spacious and well equipped with supportive team looking after it. Thank you :)

Could do with a hand rail at the bath for older guests.

The garden could be tidier and some of the walls need a coat of paint. On the positive side very spacious and walking distance for Bowness.

The kettle leaks.

The clothes airer is broken. The clothes line is inaccessible. A table in the kitchen would be helpful. There should be a curtain in the hallway as the light shines into the bedroom with the door open. The duvets were too heavy and an alternative or a blanket should be provided for extreme heat / cold.

The Nook is a lovely property and in a great location.

We've stayed there several times now and will hopefully do so again next year. It's very spacious excellent for the six of us and is always very clean.

It is a pleasant place with all the amenities. It is spacious inside and out, with ample parking and conveniently situated near Bowness.

Lovely, homely house.

The upstairs bedroom and en-suite with dressing room was like a separate apartment ideal for Granny. A very warm house, the heating was great as October partially wet week. All bedrooms were of a good size but downstairs bedroom mattress was a bit uncomfortable. All bedrooms had TV’s. Kitchen well equipped but fridge door storage broken so limited space there. Living room sofas felt new, firm but comfortable and was a very pleasant room with plenty of dining space too and an up to date TV which was great on a rainy day with 2 children. The location is great and parking good although 3 cars, if large would be more realistic but still excellent for a Lake District property. Can highly recommend, believe me the few issues I have mentioned are minor as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Nook, its a lovely home from home property and we would love to return.

Beautiful place.

We’re looking to book again next year. Our criticism is only minor because it’s honestly a great place to stay- the fridge wasn’t the best for a family of 5. We’ve found this about a lot of holiday homes though so it’s not put us off. Other than that though it was perfect. Perfectly located too.

The property provided everything that was promised in the advert.

It was spacious, well equipped and maintained. The owner was very considerate in informing us on the day of our arrival what time we could actually enter the premises, rather than having to wait until the time stipulated in the advance information. Attention was also paid to seemingly small things, which were, nevertheless, important for comfort ( e.g. timely replacement of the television control). We appreciated all of these things.

! We didn’t realise how close we were to shops, restaurants and pubs so didn’t have far to stumble home !!! The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need if you intended to cook it has a lovely warm feel , we would definitely stay here again.

Very thoughtful and helpful owners who left a bottle of bubbly, flowers and a card for my partner's 60th birthday. We will definitely use it again.

We had a fabulous week in The Nook, it was a great location and you can walk into Bowness within minutes.

The cottage was super clean and comfortable and had everything in it that you needed for a week in the lakes, the heating was super efficient (it was a cold week). But the log burner was great too. It would have been lovely to have a few bits to arrive too, even just some milk and teabags, for a cuppa on arrival but its not essential. A starter pack for the log burner would also have been useful, bit of kindling, firestarters, logs. But it wasnt far to go and get things, but it is nice after a long journey for a welcome pack when so much money has been spent. The bedrooms were lovely, TV's in all of them, the large ensuite gave a separate space if you a travelling as a group. But the bed was so creaky and very hard, one little movement woke the other person up!! We even found an old jigsaw in the cupboard, that had all the pieces. Hot chocolate and fire when we got in from walking and a jigsaw puzzle. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone travelling and wanting to stay in Bowness.

I stayed at The Nook for a week from 11th March 2022 with my mum, brother, sister-in-law and my nieces who are 4 and 9.

There was plenty of room for the 6 of us in the house, with spacious bedrooms and a lounge and dining area to seat us all. Private parking at the property was great and would easily accommodate more than our two cars. The courtyard and seating area at the front was lovely. The property was clean with comfy beds, good showers/bath, nice decor and well equipped. Judith was very kind and helpful on our arrival and departure. Bowness is a 5-10 minute walk away, along a well lit street, with plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from, as well as all the tourist attractions. We travelled easily to Grasmere, Ambleside, and Conniston by car and walked to Windermere village one day too. I would recommend and return to The Nook. Thank you Judith. Sarah, South Manchester.

We had a brilliant time at the Nook, as soon as we arrived it felt like home, beautiful surroundings, so convenient a real find.

This is one of those rare Lakeland properties that is a pleasure to stay in whatever the weather or time of year.

It's easily comfortable enough for a group of 6, but is still cosy and well appointed. Good parking, a well-designed outdoor space (if only the weather had been good enough to use it!) and great location, less than 10 minutes' walk from the lake. The owner made us feel very welcome for our Christmas stay, and responded personally and rapidly when we had a small problem, getting it resolved on Christmas Eve! Thanks for a great holiday.

The location is good and the property was clean and tidy.

Wifi could be improved. The fireplace was a good extra and kindling supplies would have helped. Kitchen facilities good. Recycling facilities need to be provided please. Overall with these improvements, a good stay

Will always book our holiday through Sykes, there are good choices of destinations through Sykes. Close to all amenities within walking distance. The weather was perfect and we found local buses were very good and not long to wait for them. Definitely book our next holiday in England through Sykes.

The cottage was well equipped in the kitchen, comfy sofas, amazingly quite and peaceful.

Great cottage and space for larger families and for friends getting together without being on top of each other. Cosy outside space too at the front and back, great location with a 10 - 15 minute walk into town, with an abundance of great restaurants if you didn't want to cook. Coming back to the cottage there is an incline but not too bad. Great kitchen area to prepare and cook food for all. BBQ was amazing although you do need to take your own coal. Beds were comfy apart from the double on the ground floor. The mattress was really hard and my son didn't sleep well all week. The carpet on the stairs to the loft bedroom was a little loose on a couple of steps. There was a wasp nest outside the front of the house and we did have an issue with them outside when we were eating (we did notify the owner) and curtains could be beneficial in the landing window to avoid that early bright sunshine coming through the bottom of the doors. With this said we will definitely be back and was so happy staying here and cannot wait to come back and stay again. Thank you. Sarah Andy and James. Xx

Very convenient for shops and restaurants in Bowness

The Nook was a lovely base for our holiday in the Lakes.

One small point. Why does the fan in the downstairs bathroom need to be on 24/7? If there is a ventilation issue, surely it can be timed to go off at night!

The accommodation was superb, with lovely furnishings and unexpected little extra like spices, slow cooker & picnic wear.

It’s in an excellent spot just up the hill from Bowness. Both the courtyard and decking at the back are absolute sun traps. We will definitely return.

Very peaceful location but just a short (but steep) walk into Bowness. Sunny courtyard at the front of the house and deck at the back. Great to have the bedroom and en-suite upstairs for the grandparents to have some privacy. The owner was very helpful and responsive.

Good location and lovely cottage.

Minor points, bathroom fan always on, tap washers upstairs need replacing and the option of an electric fire in the living room rather than heating the whole house or lighting a log fire would have been nice. Overall we had a really lovely stay and would definitely go back in the future.

This was the perfect place to holiday after months of lockdown, we had to move our dates.

Judith, the owner\manager of the Nook is amazingly considerate and welcoming. We'll come again, when we are allowed to holiday! The house was warm, clean and comfortable.

1) Damp house and you can actually smell moisture particularly in the double bedroom on the ground floor 2) Stained bedsheets, pillow cases and tea towels 3) Floors not cleaned properly.

Hair on bathroom floors and even in the microwave 4) Provided with wood sticks with rusted nails on to light up the fireplace - H&S issue 5) Sykes merely acting like a 3rd party agent, they pass all enquiries to the house owner; despite the fact that you pay directly to Sykes, not the house owner. Not a proper ownership of responsibility, you are likely to be bounced between Sykes & the house owner in case of any disputes. 6) Overall not good value for money

Just had our second holiday in this lovely well equipped cottage.

It has everything you need for the perfect getaway. Great location too, just a 10 minute stroll into Bowness.

The cottage was very clean upon arrival & our family of 6 had plenty of room inside, the upstairs bedroom & en-suite was very spacious & the bed very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare our food, plenty of crockery, glasses, cookware etc and little extras like salt & pepper, oils, herbs were much appreciated. The outside decking & patio areas were lovely to sit & enjoy a bottle of wine

Extremely cosy and warm as stated in February when storm Ciara hit. Very spacious accommodation, especially with upstairs bedroom which is separate accommodation to downstairs, great for different families. Great location, walking distance to all amenities in Bowness. Would definitely return.

There was 6 people in the house and was given only 4 bath towels.

Notification that you should take you own toilet rolls would be helpful.

The sheets in the downstairs bedroom smelt of smoking we had to wash them.

Did the cleaner not check? There was only one bedside light in all the bedrooms many people including us like to read before sleep very difficult with only one bedside light. Most of the large knives were blunt. Expected some soap or hand wash - none. Expected salt and pepper.It has been at all other cottages we have been to. The cottage is great but little things let it down and i would give it 4 out of 5. Do the small things and get 5.

We had a great week at a great location, with some very enjoyable walks within the area, the accommodation provided everything we needed.

Set back from the main road so nice and quiet.

Very attractive surroundings but the rear garden decking is a bit neglected. We sat outside at the front of the house which is a sun trap. Comfortable living areas and spacious bedrooms. An electric shaving point in the downstairs bathroom would be ideal. We would happily return to this cottage again.

This was the first time using Sykes for a cottage holiday, have previously used other companies.

I thought the fact that I was never in touch with the owner made it much less personal and communication was difficult, I called before the booking and spoke to a call centre about the type of duvets and pillows used as I have asthma I was told they would definitely be feather and to take my own, when we arrived we found our bed had been set up with non feather, which was nice but a complete waste of space to pack our own. Also other places offer a welcome pack normally a pint of milk and some bits to get you started, they only left washing up liquid a few dishwasher tablets and dishcloth which felt very basic compared to what we normally get. Allot of bits were tatty, chipped plates and glasses the dinning table was very sticky; part of the shower door was broken and the toilet seats were badly fitted.Overall not the highest standard. The location of the place was very good nice walking distance into Bowness. No spare bin bags were left and the previous ones left out were split open by animals as they were next to the bin, so we had to buy bags and clean up the mess, the instructions said the bin men would take bags next to the bin but they didn’t, so when we left from previous and our bag the bin was already full creating the same problem again of the next people having to leave rubbish next to the bin.

Yet it is so quiet and relaxing, especially cosied up next to the fire in cooler weather !! What a stunning part of the world, we highly reccommend this great place and holiday destination !! Lovely house in great location.

Layout of house suited us perfectly. Brother and sister-in-law with children stayed downstairs and we had the upstairs with our baby so didn't disturb them. Had all amenities needed and was even lucky enough with the weather to be able to enjoy the BBQ.

The cottage was excellent and great location, everything that you’d expect was provided, even down to providing the logs and kindling for the first night!

This is just a gorgeous home.

We had a lovely holiday in this cottage - the layout worked perfectly for 3 generations of the same family sharing the cottage.

The location was very good as it was only a 10 minute walk into Bowness with lots of nice restaurants/bars/shops. The town was quite trendy and not fuddy duddy which was nice for the teenagers and my 4yr old loved the world of Beatrix potter which was only a 15 minute walk away. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and the boat trip on lake Windermere is worth doing. The facilities in the cottage were good although we didn’t seem to have much hot water for showers but we managed. The cottage is on a fairly steep hill so probably not ideal for people with pushchairs. I will definitely be staying here again!

This is the second time we have stayed at the Nook and we enjoyed it as much this time as the previous one.

The house is lovely and is in a great location, nice and close to Bowness and Windermere but far enough away not to be noisy or busy. The only suggestion that I have is that I think a tumble dryer would be an advantage as washing and drying towels would be a lot easier. I would recommend the Nook as a great place to stay.

We had a lovely holiday.

The Nook was a great place to stay, close to the centre of Bowness on Windermere. The house was very clean and comfortable, and having everything that you could need. The only exception to this was the garden, the furniture had not been tidied up nor the table cleaned.

As already mentioned in other reviews, its location is perfect being minutes from Bowness and all its facilities and yet very quiet and peaceful. Everything we needed was provided and even the sun shone for us! A tip for people of a certain age, take your bus pass. We used ours everywhere even on the Goat bus visiting Beatrix Potter’s house. In fact we only used our car once during the whole week. Thoroughly recommended. Thank you!

Cottage very comfortable and and well suited for two families.

My Sisters and Brother-in-Laws had a fantastic time in the Lakes (6 of us in total).

The cottage was gorgeous and we would definitely like to come again in the future. The weather was perfect, did lots of walking and Bowness was only down the road form the cottage - perfect for eating out. The cottage garden was in full bloom and the colours were great, what a view to have outside your bedroom window. We loved our time there and would definitely recommend the cottage to family & friends.

The nook was a fabulous place with every thing you needed.It was spotlessly clean and in an ideal location. Ground floor bedroom for my disabled wife. It could have done with a grab rail in bath. Would I go with Sykes again most definitely.

Very nice place and Sykes were a great help.

Only thing i would say is could and done with some soap/handwash in the bathrooms and some extra toilet paper as quite low. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would go again.

Very central but not busy. Spacious and well equipped. Minor issue with ancient clothes horse but Sykes sorted that immediately with no problem. All staff were very friendly and professional.

Ideally situated being just a 10 min stroll into Bowness. We feel that we have found a little gem in a lovely part of The Lakes and we will definitely be booking a third visit.

Lovely cottage with plenty of parking, ideal for the 3 of us for a week.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and it's great to have a dishwasher. The lounge area is very comfortable, it rained so much one day we didn't leave the cottage! Just a 10 minute walk into Bowness, which was ideal. There are plenty of places to eat and things to do although it does get very busy.
