The Oaks

We were amazed with the property.

It had everything you need and was absolutely perfect for the size of our party. The house is bigger than we thought which was a lovely surprise. Perfect distance to walk or drive into Windermere. Would highly recommend.

This holiday cottage was a delight to stay at.

The place was clean and very well equipped, pretty much all the rooms have their own en suite which was excellent with additional bathrooms downstairs during the daytime. There was 24 of us and it never felt cramped or overcrowded anywhere in the house. The kitchen was excellent with 4 ovens and importantly 4 dishwashers which were well utilised by us! We managed to cook for 24 each day with ease and clean up after while having a relaxing time. The grounds are beautiful and we almost didnt leave the property as there was so much to do there and we felt like we could just sit and watch the scenery all day. The staff beforehand were very helpful and answered all our queries well. We also managed to park arund 6 cars in the driveway which we were pleasently surprised about. Overall an excellent venue and we will definitly consider staying here again.

Lovely house, very well equipped for a big group celebration.

Fab location and facilities. We had a small issue with heating in some of the bedrooms and couldn't figure this out but luckily it didn't interfere with the stay. An amazing place to stay. The owners were very accommodating. Much appreciated!

I actually think the pictures didn’t do it justice even though the pictures were great, once we turned up and saw the view out the back first hand it blew us away, totally private, huge venue, people actually got lost in it.

Loved it from start to finish, will definitely be going back.

Martin the caretaker who met us on arrival was most helpful and none of our party of 18 who stayed at the Oaks had an issue with the property. I will certainly hope to book again - ideal for family get togethers. George

The Oaks sounded ideal for my family of 16 adults and 9 children.

It turned out to be perfect in every respect. It easily accommodated 25 people with one bedroom unused. We never felt overcrowded, the lounges were very comfortable and homely with fires burning. 3 days and nights with no television requested - has to be good! The hot tubs and sauna were amazing. The kitchen was so well equipped and the caterer we used was superb. Can't fault it. 100% we will return.

A large and well equipped house for a large family get together.

very well set up with enough equipment to cater easily, there is lots of space to spread out with multiple lounges. The dining area is not ideal as it is very narrow meaning you sit 25 people on 4 tables of 6/7 placed lengthways on each other so very impersonal and isn't a nice social way to eat together. My only other comment would be we didn't feel it was right to ask everyone to strip their bed, collect towels and put them all in laundry bags and to place them near the front door on leaving. This was very unexpected when you consider the price of rental for this property.

Stunning location, very clean and comfortable, well maintained,maintenance staff very friendly and helpful, definitely worth a visit

The house was spotless and perfect for our group of 20 (10 couples).

We loved the kitchen and all the different seating areas and several of us enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and pool table. The views were amazing. The kitchen as fabulous and had everything we needed and more! The only constructive comment I can add is that the boys wanted some chalk for the pool que. Other than that everything was perfect.

Booked for family holiday to celebrate 60th birthdays.

We had an amazing time. Great to have 10 en-suite rooms plus good sized bathroom for the other two rooms. Good communication from the management team. Loads of space and different lounges to chill and party in. Hot tubs well used . Fab views. 30 min walk to Bowness, uphill on way home, you need to be a quite fit to do this. Minor issues with equipment but management team responsive.

Had a fabulous day celebrating twins 60th birthday accommodated all of the familiy easily 23 people including five children the oaks was absolutely perfect

Absolutely beautiful property and the perfect get away for a large group to relax and celebrate any occasion!

Some slightly tired and lack of attention to detail to maintenance and repairs around the property and also the grounds keepers coming to clear the chairs to the property before check out wasn't welcomed, especially as it is quite an early checkout. 11am would be a far better time!

The cottage is very nice, very big, very clean, the kitchen has all the appliances and accessories, .

The children loved it and the adults as well. I am heavily recommend it. We love it.

What a weekend!

We celebrated a 30th birthday 25 women ages from 18 to 70 The place is fantastic absolutely massive, everything we needed was there , hot tubs kept clean and topped up, Sarah was there at hand if needed, check in was easy and not complicated, the rooms where fantastic clean and tidy fresh bedding on before we arrived. The kitchen was big enough for us to cook a meal for 24 of us and plenty of seating area.... would definitely recommended..... a 25 minute walk into bowness where there were pubs to eat and drink at and easy enough to get a taxi back if needed .... we will hopefully be back in the future

I visited the Oaks with a group of 19 girlfriends last weekend.

The Oaks is a very beautiful property with amazing views across a valley and the surrounding area is wonderful with lots to do and good restaurants. The Oaks is a luxury property and is even better than the photographs on the Sykes Cottages site. The interiors are tastefully and well furnished with lots of different seating areas, the kitchen is very well equipped with a large wine fridge which was very important for our party! The bedrooms are luxurious with excellent showers and bathrooms and for such a vast property it was lovely and warm. We thoroughly enjoyed the two large hot tubs and sauna. Sarah from the office was most helpful before and during our stay, as was Martin. Any queries were quickly addressed. We were so impressed we hope to visit again next year. Thank you to everyone at the Oaks.

An outstanding house that delivers in every way.

The facilities were superb, there was barely anything missing that you could wish for (Maybe a couple of Air Fryers), cleanliness was second to none, the grounds were outstanding and the staff were extremely helpful. We had the house full of people and not at any time did it feel like there wasn't enough space, a really relaxing place to stay. Would highly recommend and we look forward to staying there again soon.

Absolutely amazing house with incredible views, facilities and staff.

It exceeded our expectations which were already high having viewed the online videos etc. I celebrated my birthday with 22 friends and family and nothing could have been better, we stayed at the house from Friday to Monday never leaving it just making the most of the grounds, hot tub and sauna. We have just returned from a 7 day break at this property.

We had a group of 25 made up of 12 adults and 13 kids (age range 1-11). The house is fantastic. The grounds and gardens are stunning. The view over the hills is amazing. It really has everything you need for a big group. There are 4 separate lounge areas with several TV’s which came in very handy with kids. Some of the TV’s have sky too so ideal for watching the golf and cricket while we were there. The house was able to accommodate everyone without ever feeling busy or on top of each other. There is pretty much a bathroom or ensuite for each bedroom. The shower / water pressure is excellent. The kitchen is great. Huge open space with 4 ovens and 4 dishwashers. The ice machine was a hit too on the hot days. The facilities are first class - the sauna and 2 hot tubs are perfect. There is a pool table too. I asked everyone for their feedback before we left and genuinely nobody had a bad word to say about anything. We would 100% recommend to anyone who is thinking of staying here. Finally the communication from the management team on site is excellent. Thank you to Sarah and Jo for their help with everything. We will be back soon (as soon as we can find a date suitable for all 25 of us)!

A wonderful place!

Spacious and somehow cosy. The two hot tubs were excellent for adults and the children. Excellent catering suggested and provided for three days. We were 25 people ranging from 10 months to 74years of age and we had travelled from around the world to be together as a family. The oaks gave us exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Time and space to be together. Thank you.

A fabulous house in a beautiful location.

Perfect for our large family group of adults. Very well equipped large kitchen. Comfortable ensuite bedrooms and the views from the garden are stunning. We have booked again for next year!

Excellent property.

This was our second stay at the property and it did not disappoint.

This property was outstanding, 20 adults and 2 kids, all catered for perfectly, we moved the dining area to the room with the pool table, made more of a square table and it worked better for us, we obviously put it back after.

This is a stunning property for a large family group.

Appointed to a very high standard. Fantastic kitchen facilities. A wonderful mix of space to be together and also corners to retire too. The beautiful views were a bonus. Highly recommend.

The Oaks is a beautiful house, 18 of us stayed and it catered for all of our needs.

The photos were what drew us to book the house, however, even these do not do the house justice. It is immaculately clean, we had everything we needed and the hot tubs and sauna were a real treat! The showers were hot despite the number of us using them at the same time. The location is wonderful - just a short walk into Windermere with some beautiful tracks for us to explore the nearby hills/viewpoints. The views from the house were beautiful too. We would definitely look to book again. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we all had a fantastic time!

This is a very special property.

We held a 50th birthday party here over a week in November and had a spectacular time. The house has every comfort imaginable and the sauna, hot tubs and pool table were particularly popular! The huge kitchen was a focal point - so well equipped and so many dishwashers, cookers, kettles etc. A number of people commented on how comfortable the beds were. Spotlessly clean. Well done to Sarah and the team - they could not have been more helpful!

The Oaks Country House was perfect for our family holiday.

We numbered 21, and were 3 generations from 3 continents (UK, USA and Australia). The house is very well equipped, furnished, clean, spacious, and obviously well cared for by the managers. It has a fabulous kitchen area with everything youd need. Communication was excellent and the welcome much appreciated. There was room for everyone, the leisure area was well used, as was the dining room, which easily accommodated our party. We were able to easily access walks and Lake District tourist spots by car and foot. We'd highly recommend a stay here.

What a wonderful place!

Everything wonderful, magical and sparkling. We hired for a large group celebrating our friends wedding and it fit the bill and more. Could not have asked for a better location (spot the deer!) and for so many people in one place we all could find a quiet spot or a noisy one depending on what you wanted. The facilities were great with a cleaner coming each day of our hire to clean the hot tubs, so many ovens, plenty of plates and utensils. Could have done with more mugs and tall glasses but I’m now being picky. We loved it and so pleased to have been able to have the privilege to have stayed.

The Oaks is an amazing property and was perfect for my group.

I run a large walking group and although the property fits 25 people we had 17 staying. Some people know each others and some are meeting for the first time. When you throw 17 + people together into one house with a mix of personalities you need space. The bedrooms being able to split into twins and most having an ensuite is ideal for our group. Lots of lounge areas o people can find somewhere quiet if they need to. The hot tubs and sauna were an amazing feature after a hard day walking. The kitchen was very equipped making group meals around the fab table easy. If I am going to be picky an electric whisk would have been nice ( making pavlova and beating eggs whites for 3 large pavlovas was hard work on the arms, good job there were plenty of us to take turns )

The house was even better than the pictures on the website.

It was a perfect location, the owner had thought of everything and we did not want for anything. The local information provided by the owner was really useful. The hot tub maintenance during our stay was excellent. We would definitely recommend the property.

The property is fantastic with great facilities and great location.

We were a family gathering of 24 people yet there was enough space to always find a quiet sitting room or to gather togeher as a large group. The well equipped kitchen and dining facilities mean that we could prepare meals and enjoy them together. The hot tubs were wonderful. If anyone is looking for a large property for a luxury holiday with family/friends then we can highly recommend.

The Oaks exceeded our expectations.

My extended family (12 of us) stayed a week and enjoyed the spacious accommodations (12 rooms), large kitchen (3 refrigerators and 3 dish washers) and large dining area (seating for 32) with views of rolling hills and grazing sheep. Multiples sitting rooms and places to watch tv, play games and read were also appreciated. Very memorable week in an exceptional property!

We are a big group and have stayed at many properties across the UK. This is the best property we have stayed at!

This was a perfect venue for a family event to celebrate my husband's 75th birthday.

All our guests loved the house and there was something for everyone from the youngest of our grandchildren aged 6 to the more mature guests. The grounds and views are wonderful and there were plenty of local walks to suit all abilities. The house is a convenient 20 minute walk away from Bowness and all its facilities. The manager of the site was also very helpful.

Beautiful house, great location well equipped thanks for 3 great days

We all had a great time and will be booking the Oaks again when an anniversary such as our recent Diamond Wedding comes around.

Another excellent stay at The Oaks.

We stayed over the weekend for a friend's surprise 60th birthday and we had a fabulous time. The house is extremely comfortable and well equipped. All the rooms are nicely decorated and there are lots of communal spaces too. The two hot tubs were a big hit as was the sauna. We have talked about making it an annual trip.

The property was beautiful, had everything you could think of and was perfect for our group stay.

The view out of the back of the property was superb, great to look at whilst sat in the jacuzzi! The location was great it? it was only a short walk into Bowness. Would highly recommend the property to anyone for a large group stay. There was a small issue with the WiFi and not all the guests were able to access it. This was not a huge issue though.

A few issues cropped up during the week which you would expect for a property of this size but all issues were dealt with efficiently. Should we need a property of this size again then we will be back.

A wonderful place to have a large family reunion.

The children and the grandchildren enjoyed the hot tubs until the weather got so hot that they were not so inviting. The large garden, with shade, was an added bonus. Sarah Johnson was very helpful with our enquiries re bike store and internet, (it turned out we should have been logging into Oaks Guest (I think) not The Oaks.

Just back from a wonderful weekend break at The Oaks.

The house & facilities exceeded our expectations. We were a group of 24, the house was perfect. Lots of lounges to relax in but it seemed we spent sent most of our time in the fabulous kitchen! The wonderful weather meant we took full advantage of the terrace, hot tubs & spectacular view. The communication & updates from the management of house was excellent. They met us on our arrival to make sure we were happy which we certainly were. It was truly a very special weekend for us all.

The house was out of this world !

! Enough sofas for everyone to have one of their own. The house was spotlessly clean. Gardens, hot tubs & sauna were fabulous. The house had everything we needed and more ! Perfect location for Bowness and surrounding areas. Host was very accommodating ! Thanks again

Excellent accommodation.

Cleanliness was to a high standard. All the facilities are fabulous. The view to the back of the house is just beautiful. We saw deer, hares, foxes, birds of prey and pheasants. The hot tubs and saunas are an added bonus and were used a lot during our stay. The beds are extremely comfortable. The living areas were spacious and well decorated. All in all a fantastic stay.

Absolutely brilliant, everything thought of and more than enough utensils and washing items.

So much space - we were 19, as some dropped out at last minute - and it sleeps 24, no-one disturbed anyone, just bodies floating round as they went about their business!! Quiet areas, kitchen sofas, 'games' room etc. Great for chilling, even with the Lake District weather, or being busy with activities, even goal posts for a knock about. We wish we could have stopped longer. Wonderful staff and customer care. I have emailed with 'suggestions' for little tweeks and possible hand rails for disabled access from disabled room to top lounge but we managed nevertheless. Would highly recommend and certainly go back.

Our Group of 17 persons have had weekend celebrations together on four occasions in the past.

This one was the best…we liked the Oaks because the kitchen facilities were the best we’ve had, the bedrooms were of a very high standard and the location by Lake Windermere was excellent.

Location was excellent and taxi service from Carlos was spot on .

The provision of essentials like tea/coffee dishwasher tablets were invaluable due to our late arrival time. The views are magnificient, the area so peaceful, it was just the perfect location for our family get-together. I would (and already have) recommend this property to anybody.

The Oaks was better than expected.

A beautiful property with plenty of room for a large group. Multiple living spaces so plenty of room to space out. Multiple ovens and dishwashers really helped when cooking for a large group. Has every appliance you would need for a a self catering holiday. We got some nice weather so could take advantage of the outdoor seating and garden, again plenty of space to play games or relax soaking up the sun. Not that it was an issue but some previous places I have stayed have things like cooking oil/sprays etc but there wasn’t anything like that so just make sure you bring everything you would need. Not sure if that is because of COVID. Also not a lot of toilet roll. Walking into Bowness was only a 10/15 min walk once we found the quickest route. Cross straight over the road at the bottom of the drive. Would definitely stay there again.

The best holiday home i have add Butifull inside outside fully modernised very well equipped very comfortable and looked after end Clean please no cutting any corners very spacious and beautiful equipped kitchen Big and spacious and beautiful sitting areas with comfortable couches all over the House and very comfortable beds in all rooms and good Showers no problem with hot water magnificent garden and beautiful views two beautiful Jacuzzis in the garden and sauna inside close to the Jacuzzis very quiet neighbourhood and beautiful surrounding grounds peaceful and quiet

An exceptional property, very quiet location, but only 1 mile from the centre of Bowness.

Lovely bedrooms, and very comfortable lounges. Very well equipped kitchen and a great dining room. Large outdoor area, with 2 hot tubs, which were well used after a hard days walking the fells. Very helpful Manager who sorted any problems out. We used an outside caterer on the last night, which was very good, and a very reasonable price.

Fabulous venue, very well equipped kitchen and plenty of everything you need for a large group of people.

We had a great weekend and made plenty of use out to the hot tubs and outside area in general as the weather was kind to us! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for something for a large group of people and would definitely go back!! Many thanks Lynn

Lovely big house with good facilities and comfort en suite bedrooms.

Hot tubs got lots of use and great views of fields and hills from the patio with plenty of room for children to play and run around.

the welcome hamper was a lovely touch, we had the most amazing weekend in the Oaks, the house was decorated to a very high standard and was spotless.

Fabulous house and location which far exceeded expectations and certainly had the wow factor!

Plenty of room for our guests and need to especially mention the catering team who made and served a meal for us which made it a special occasion.

Location ideal with easy taxi rides th Bowness saving the trouble of trying to park. Hot tubs and sauna an added bonus . Very comfort able for a large group. I would give it 5 stars.

This is a fantastic house which is well appointed and in a beautiful and quiet location, yet within easy reach of Bowness.

We would recommend staying here to anybody and everybody. This was our annual family gathering, 6 Grandparents, 10 Parents and 8 grand children under the age of 4. The house provide plenty of space for us all to enjoy the weekend, with enough space for the children to play, lounge areas to get away from the chaos! and relax. The kitchen is excellent and very well appointed, as our the bedrooms and bathrooms. Our only compliant would be the lack of a plan of the accommodation on the Sykes website which makes it difficult to allocate rooms and bed configurations required. Other websites do this and we find it invaluable when deciding if a house is suitable for our purposes before booking. This was overcome by the very helpful on site team who should be complimented for their attention to detail. Also it would be useful; if Sykes titled photographs so you can understand which rooms are which.

The Oaks is an amazing house, extremely well equipped for the amount of guests, very clean and comfortable.

We all enjoyed the hot tubs (even in the rain) and sauna. Would definitely return.

The Oaks is the best which we stayed. Very high standards..5 star facilities..you got everything What you need..very spacious rooms with all facilities...including Kitchen and bathrooms..Sauna and hot tubs give you added pleasure...clean,tidy and hygienic...beautiful views..very safe...Jo and Russell were very helpful and wonderful people..definitely on our return list.

This was the most beautiful house, it was well appointed and had everyone's needs taken care off.

We were lucky enough to have the best weather in years and made good use off the Hot tubs and grounds,but I am sure we would have been just as happy to use indoors equally as well if the weather was poor. Fabulous kitchen and just soooooo much space, plenty of cloakroom facilities downstairs . A thoroughly well thought out house and an ideal way to spend a week celebrating my 60th with family and friends . Definitely on my return list.

Fantastic holiday home for large family get togethers and family occasions Furnishings and accommodation are of the highest standard

Fab-u-lous is the only word to describe this property.

The standard of accommodation is first class from the bedrooms to the lounges to the wonderful kitchen- even the artwork has been carefully chosen to enhance the rooms. It has a real "wow" factor which begins in the wonderful entrance hall and the dining room is superb. We were a party of 25 ranging in ages from 12 to 82 celebrating a 60th birthday. The house met all our needs having a large number of ensuite rooms and disabled facilities. One of the requirements for our trip was the ability for everyone to sit down together and have a celebratory meal- the dining room was beautiful and has a view to die for. The hot tubs and sauna were very popular and towels were provided for everyone to use. We had snow which made the experience even more magical and on two nights had clear skies which meant we could see hundreds of stars in the sky and not a sound could be heard. Plenty of room for everyone and we would certainly like to visit again!!
