We are all picky adults who like our space and comfort, and the cottage suited us well. It is very thoughtfully equipped and furnished, and much more spacious than it appears in the photos. Comfortable beds, good showers, big fluffy towels, loads of storage space, an excellent kitchen. And at the height of the heatwave the interior was as cool as we were likely to find anywhere in Cumbria. The patio at the rear is shady and sheltered, a delightful place for an evening drink. Recommendation: our favourite South Lakes visit is Sizergh Castle, just ten minutes drive away. We spent two mornings there this time - once for the house and gardens, once for the walk to the little church with its Great War commemorative fresco.
