Palm Court

We had a lovely stay overall and would happily recommend this cottage.

It was very well equipped with all the holiday essentials and plenty of extra touches that made our stay comfortable. The property is fairly modern, communication with the owner before arrival was excellent, and the welcome gift basket was a thoughtful touch that was much appreciated. There were only a couple of minor downsides. The check-in and check-out times (5pm and 9am) are quite restrictive and not ideal when you're trying to make the most of your holiday. We understand this is to allow enough time for the cleaner to prepare the property between guests, but it does make for a very short first and last day. That said, we were fortunate that the cottage was vacant the day before and were able to check in earlier. Finally, this is purely a personal preference, but a TV in the bedroom would have been a nice addition. Overall, a comfortable, well-equipped holiday cottage with great communication from the owner and lots of thoughtful extras. We enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

This was our second stay at Palm Court.

It has everything you need and more within a 20 minute drive of Bowness. Most of what we did activity-wise was within a 10 minute drive of the property which made it really easy and super convenient to access. Tesco was just 10 minutes away and there's also a small shop in the village. Gareth is a smashing host, friendly and approachable who leaves you to enjoy the holiday but would be there if you needed him. We didn't encounter any problems at all on both visits so beyond the initial welcome, we didn't need to get in contact with him. It's a lovely, well maintained property. I'm certain we'll be back again soon. Can highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Palm Court with our two huskies, so thank you to our hosts.

It is spacious, well provisioned, catered for all of our needs, and is in an ideal location to explore the incredible scenery of the local area and southern lakes. After long days walking/hiking, it was the perfect retreat in which to chill and recover every evening. We had a lovely meal in The Royal Oak too, and would thoroughly recommend it.

Well equipped house in a lovely setting and beautiful village that has really good access to the motorway for trips to Lake District or outings to Morecambe Bay, Lancaster and beyond. The house and kitchen in particular, is really well equipped. The detail and care put into our stay was lovely- bedding is luxurious, comfy mattress on the main bed, spacious shower. The hosts were always accessible and friendly. The only downside was the living room area, which was a lot colder than the rest of the house (which was lovely and cosy). Throws are provided but maybe a heater in that area might help. To add context- we were there when temperatures were -2c so this maybe this wouldn’t be an issue in warmer weather.

It was just perfect and had absolutely everything we needed.

The shower was good, the bed comfy, the kitchen well equipped, no complaints whatsoever.

We had a wonderful week stay at the property, it was very equipped especially for the dog we found poo bags, a bed, bowls and blankets under the stairs just in case you were to forget anything.

We self catered in the property and found there wasn't a lot of cupboard space to store our food shop so perhaps if cupboards couldn't be added a pan rack would help to free up the worktop space. Other than that we could not fault anything else about the property and rebooked for next year while still on holiday in the property. Gareth was lovely very helpful but not overbearing considering he lives next door. We can't wait to return and make more memories.

A fantastic property and extremely well equipped and furnished to a very high standard.

My only comment would be that a dishwasher would have been useful, but that’s only because we use one at home. We would definitely book again.

Beautiful house in a very peaceful village, very well equipped, fantastic place to stay to explore the lakes, perfect for our family of 5 and a dog.

Gareth, the host, was very friendly and welcoming. We are hoping to come back there again in the future.

Palm court is a beautiful house with great facilities - washing machine, coffee machine, ample parking.

There were lots of little extras - cleaning products, condiments in the cupboard, coffee pods, tea bags, dog bowls and blankets etc. The smart TV and very comfy sofas were great at night. The garden is enclosed for the dogs and the house is in a good central location for the Lakes, the Dales and even Morecambe and Blackpool. We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to return. Thank you for having us!

Property was lovely and easy to find!

Lovely and clean. We came on motorbikes ready to ride round some of the lovely Lake District roads and Gareth the owner was very accommodating and said we could pop them under the shelter for when it rained. The house had everything we needed to cook and feel like a home away from home. If we ever come back to the Lake District we would definitely look at staying here again!

Delightful property to stay in, it has everything you might want and more.

The enclosed garden was wonderful for our 2 springers. The accommodation was well appointed and was just as described. We would use it again. Ideal accommodation for those wanting to explore the lakes and Morecambe bay

We chose this property above others due to the high number of positive reviews we'd read.

We would absolutely agree that Palm Court is very well deserving of the praise it's received. The house is situated down a quiet cul-de-sac and you're not overlooked at all at the back of the house which is lovely. Gareth is a very friendly and welcoming host who assured us he could be contacted at any time if we needed him, we're pleased to say that we encountered no problems whatsoever so didn't need to get in contact. Parking at the front was ample and very convenient. We all commented how comfortable we'd been staying at the property. Everything was of a high quality including towels, bedding and appliances. We appreciated our welcome gifts too! Houses we'd considered within the Lake District were not of as high a standard as Palm Court and yet were £300 more expensive. We took a gamble going for this property and it totally paid off. Everywhere we visited was within a 30 minute drive of the property including Windermere, Kendal and Morecambe. There's a lovely small zoo about 5 minutes drive away and Levens Hall was only 13 minutes by car. We would definetly stay here again and understand from another holiday maker next door that many visitors are repeat guests which speaks volumes.

Property was lovely, very clean and the welcome gift was really nice.

Host was very accommodating when we asked to arrive at the property earlier than agreed time, overall Gareth was really helpful. The garden and conservatory were fabulous, our dog really enjoyed. Facilities were great, heating very good and the coffee machine was a nice touch. Location was quiet and tranquil, easy access to surrounding areas like Lake Windermere, Lancaster, Morecambe Bay, Kendal etc. Really good for day trips in the car. Overall would definitely stay again, we all really enjoyed it.

Last minute booking for 4 nights - couldn't get any longer as booked up. Comfy beds, sofas. Plenty of space and seating.inc large conservatory. Off road parking. Enclosed garden - dog proof and peaceful. Had good weather, so nice sun trap. Very clean throughout. Plenty of cleaning stuff (makes a change). Well equipped kitchen. Good Wi-Fi and tv. 5 min drive to Dalton Cragg - good for local dog walk. Silverdale and Arnside a short drive. Owner welcoming and helpful. The wine and cookies were appreciated. Highly recommended. What an amazing cottage.

Amazing property.

The only thing I would suggest is a nest of tables in the living area to put drinks next to where you are sat as the table in the middle of the room is quite a distance away

We always want a holiday home that facilitates for our two dogs.

I have never come across a more nicer comfortable property. They provide home from home for humans and dogs alike, which leads to everyone having a really lovely relaxing holiday.

Excellent property of a very high standard.

Spotlessly clean, every home comfort you could wish for. Owner provided welcome goodies which was a nice bonus. Only issue was that 5pm check in is rather late and 9am check out quite early especially with a family to get sorted and to leave property in a clean order. All in all a wonderful find and great holiday I would definitely recommend

A hidden gem.

Spacious very clean. Comfy beds. Everything you need a home from home. Good outdoor space great for a dogs as it was enclosed. A pub and shop a couple of minutes from cottage. Great communication from owners. Would highly recommend this property.

Superb location giving access to Cumbria, the Lakes, Yorkshire and South.

Just walk up to the top of Hutton Roof and realise how fantastic a location this is. The walk along the canal must be one of the most beautiful and historic and interesting canal walks. The accommodation is excellent, spacious and private. The furniture and beds are comfortable and the WiFi is strong. It is safe and secure for pets. Gareth was welcoming, friendly, there if needed. Stay as long as you can!

Palm Court is a very smart house with furnishings and equipment to match the stylish aesthetic.

Gareth and Kirsti obviously have a good eye for design. It is also very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything necessary for a splendid holiday. Gareth is on hand with helpful information but is never intrusive. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with many lovely walks, long and short. The garden is safely enclosed so we had no worries about our dog. I recommend this property unreservedly.

Lovely house very spacious .

Plenty of provisions , including welcome pack . Very nice surprise. No complaints about anything in this property except the towels. Although they were clean they had a musty smell as though they had been folded while still damp. (Sorry)

Really lovely house with great facilities.

Beds really comfortable. The shower is wonderful. The weather was fabulous, as ordered by Gareth. Visited Silverdale, Arnside, Ingleton waterfalls (quite a walk but worth it) and Sizbergh castle. Really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Palm Court!

Best holiday we've ever been on.

.....so much to do in the local area. What made it really special was the cottage we stayed in....it was so cosy and clean and everything you could need had been thought of. Gareth, the owner was warm and welcoming and so helpful

Palm Court was a perfect place to stay for our impromptu holiday for family of 5 adults and our little dog.

We chose it for easy access to the M6, half an hour to Windermere for kayaking, 25 mins to Morecambe, 15 mins to Arnside beach and loads of beautiful countryside scenery and walks in between. However, the house is also perfect just for chilling out. We really couldn’t fault it. For home cooks like us, the kitchen is so well equipped it’s a home from home and more. The enclosed garden was perfect for some peaceful sitting out and bonus that the dog was safe and sound. The bedrooms all have very comfy beds and are light and airy thanks to the velux windows and colour schemes. Highly recommended, it was a last minute booking for us and I’m very happy we struck it lucky.

The property was fabulous it had everything we needed for a quiet week away.

It was very spacious, comfortable, clean and close to all Cumbrias/ north Yorkshire place's of natural beauty. Great for our long dog walks down the canal too.

The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Gareth was always available to answer questions and help us when we needed it. The welcome basket was an added bonus and we realky appreciated having the basic essentials available (tea, coffee, washing up liquid, tea towels etc). Gareth had even thought about having essential things available for the dogs. Which made it feel more like home from home. Palm Court is a lovely property to stay in.

The downstairs layout is spacious and the open plan worked great for us. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs. The beds were super comfy and we all slept well. There is a large screen TV which was good for us oldies to watch in comfort! The owner was really helpful and was on hand if we needed him for anything. He lives next door but didn’t intrude at all and we only saw him when we called him. The eggs and wine were much appreciated. This house is perfectly placed for fantastic walks on the crags, coastal walks ,such as at Silverdale, and only a short journey to Kendal or Windermere. A great place to stay. Thank you.

We arrived just after 6pm on the first day and received a lovely warm welcome from the property owner - we were shown where certain things were and how to work the heating etc.

The property itself has everything you’d need - even spare dog bed, bowls, lead etc, the owner has thought of everything. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful, with a walk in shower and it’s an overhead waterfall one too, which is great after getting back from a wet & cold walk to warm you up. The property is very clean, the beds are super comfy, and the TV is a smart TV - so you can watch Netflix, NowTV etc. on it if you log into your account. The conservatory is really spacious and the garden is super cute. There are some gaps between the concrete gravel boards and the hedge, so we had to keep an eye out on the dogs when in the garden as one of them is an escape artist and has 0 recall so he’d just be off, but smaller dogs wouldn’t even be able to see over them. Location of the property is perfect for the holiday we wanted - we drove on day trips to the well known places in the lakes, which were easily accessible as we just hopped onto the M6! There’s a pub 5mins walk from the property, which served tasty food and is dog friendly - with plenty of outdoor seating. There is a village shop about 6mins walk from the property which sells a huge variety of items and is also a post office - so you can send a postcard if you like! Will be recommending this property to everyone who mentions wanting to visit the Lakes :)

Another excellent stay in beautiful Cumbria.

Palm Court is a fantastic place, comfortable, modern and a perfect base for all the amazing sights of Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire. The owner Gareth is on site and is a great host (thank you for the eggs and fizz on arrival). We will be back soon.

Beautiful property, great location for exploring the Lake District but also easy to get to Blackpool to see the lights.

The hosts were great if we had any questions, quick reply and very friendly.

Comfortable beds and downstairs seating in both lounge and conservatory.

Well equipped kitchen crockery, utensils etc with range of cleaning products as well as tea coffee salt and pepper. Plenty of hot water and good power in shower. Outdoors garden is secure for dog owners.Good location iro the village and pub which serves good food and beer, also the surrounding countryside which provides good walking facilities close by and a little further afield for example Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Gareth the owner is a lovely man and generously provided a bottle of fizz and some of his chickens free range eggs.

The cottage was lovely , spacious , clean and the beds were comfortable, The garden was great for our small dogs and safe .

The only downside was the late check in at 5pm And early checkout at 9am . Other than that a perfect retreat .

Who needs to fly abroad when there is so much to discover in this country.

We have just spent a fabulous week in the Lake District. This house is a gem. From the moment we arrived to the second we left it was just perfect. Gareth and Kirsty were perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Always available to recommend local eateries and places to go. Lots of extras like Prosecco and fresh eggs were lovely touches. This house felt like home not just for us but our two looney spaniels as very dog friendly and safe. We cannot wait to go back and enjoy all that the house, village and lakes has to offer.

Didn't realise that there was another property (the owners) so close but owner very helpful & friendly to make sure everything was ok.

Lovely spacious house, lots of thought gone into making it dog friendly, although the back gate didn't shut properly so we lost a dog for a few minutes one day. A pair of scales for the kitchen would be handy. Great location for getting out & about. Lovely touch with the wine, eggs & coffee pods!

The accommodation is superb and there was lots of space in the main living areas. The dogs loved playing in the garden which is secure. The property is well situated to get to the Lakes and there are lots of places to visit nearby. If we return to this area, we would not hesitate to book this property again.

.. lovely cottage ..clean ..well furnished ..lots of lovely little touches ..wine in the wine cooler ..tea..coffee..plus coffee pods for the machine..a box of their eggs ..it was brilliant ..Gareth called round to make sure we had everything we needed.. It's in a great area with easy access to the Lakes as well as the Sales ..The pub in the village serves good food and there is a farm shop with cafe nearby .....

Showed us around the cottage, very informative, such a nice guy. Palm Court is a lovely property in a quiet location, with plenty of parking, ideally situated for many lovely walks, and not far from the Lake District. Very spacious, clean, light, airy and exceptionally comfortable. Love the split level lounge area. Enclosed secure garden for the dog. Dog bed, bowls, extending lead, towels and even food for a four legged friend. Quality bedding and towels. The bed is so comfy, slept like a log. Lovely wet room with a wonderful rainfall shower. Short walk to the village. The King's Arms pub does great food and is dog friendly. Looking forward to returning for another relaxing stay. Thank you Gareth for allowing us the opportunity to stay at Palm Court.

Everything we needed was provided in the cottage, owner very friendly and helpful.

Cottage clean, bedding and towels spotless, will certainly be back.

The accommodation was a let down, which is such a surprise as the previous reviews were all raving about it, that’s why we booked it.

The paint work was tired, chipped and unclean. The floors in the kitchen and dining room were not clean. There were dirty towels left in the Washing machine. There was be a layer of thick dust on the back of the bathroom door. The conservatory was not a nice place that we would have ever sat in, with damaged glazing and lots of flies. Such a shame as we were looking forward to relaxing there for the weekend.

Excellent property clean, bright, large and homely, everything needed for a short break,couldn’t fault it.

Accommodation was brilliant, comfortable, beds very cozy, lovely shower.

Owner was nearby and could not have been more helpful, very polite, would definitely stay again.

The cottage was really nice and in a nice location with pretty much everything needed.

My only comment would be it’s a little tired and really needs a bit of TLC. The living room especially is crying out for some curtains because it gets dark extremely cold in there, with no way to warm it up other than heating all the house to an unpleasant temperature (due to the positioning of the room). Overall though it was a pleasant stay and if things were updated I’d definitely stay again as the location is lovely and the place was nice and spacious.

Really lovely property.

Clean, neat and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Nice that it was dog friendly and had a secure garden. Heating was easy to use and came in very handy! The beds were comfortable and good quality bedding. Nice little village and the local pub is not only dog friendly but also does a lovely Sunday roast!

Emergency text from us on M6 telling him we were stuck in traffic & he stepped in to accept our online food delivery and even put bits in the freezer - thank you so much :) The cottage was nice and bright and airy with lots of windows. They really had thought of everything you might need, from rubber gloves, spare lightbulbs to an airer, it was all available. The little extra touches made it a home from home and easy to settle in. Kitchen was fully equipped with microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, posh coffee machine & pods, nest central heating, drinks chiller and everything you may need to cook a full dinner. Bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. Bathroom was actually a wet room with a fabulous shower, which was great and again, lots of storage for toiletries. Nice hallway area to store wet shoes and a walk in cupboard in the dining area to put away coats and bags. The garden was enclosed except if you have an escapee terrier like we do, who found the only hole in the hedge above the concrete border to leap through! Sorry neighbours. Nice and quiet with good access to the lakes and surrounding towns. Great fish & chip shop recommendation in Arnside for a rainy Friday night with hungry kids - thanks again. Kirkby Lonsdale, Kendal, Windermere all really lovely even in the rain. This was our first experience of Sykes and renting and we would definitely recommend Palm Court to anyone heading in that direction. Thank for a relaxing, much needed week away. We hope to be back in the future and will be booking in for some sun this time please!

We had a brilliant week at Palm Court, This house was extra clean and tidy,very spacious we are a family of 5 and 6 with the dog and we were all very comfortable even a bed for the dog, leads treats and bowls if you have forgotten anything you don't need to worry, We had treats left for us too, As a family we would recommend a stay here.

Palm Court was easy to find being close to the route to the motorway, the cottage was spacious and comfortable, with all necessary amenities, with three men in our group we could have done with a 2nd toilet, maybe downstairs, but other that that, we would definitely recommend the cottage to family & friends.

We had a fabulous time and thank Gareth for his help during our stay. Overall Brilliant!

Quiet.

Location , excellent vacillities . Easy to get to all parts of National Park . All windows opened as weather was good so we got plenty of fresh air , especially at night . Nice little garden to hang washing out in and lovely conservatory.

Fantastic place to stay, couldn’t fault it.

We only stayed for a short break of three days over Christmas due to work commitments and would have loved to have stayed longer. Even our little West Highland Terrier enjoyed his time there :-) The cottage was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed, there was also a few treats/goodies waiting for us on our arrival which was a very nice touch. The furniture/decor was in excellent condition and very comfortable and the kitchen was very well specced with everything you should need. The dogs bed came in very handy as we had forgotten to bring ours Will definitely consider staying here again in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone else too.

We had a lovely week staying in Palm Cottage the cottage had everything that we needed for our stay ,a lovely welcome basket was much appreciated, The location of the property was great for exploring he Lakes and Dales , The owner had supplied everything that was necessary not only for ourselves but for our 2 dogs too , The enclosed garden was a added bonus not only for peace of mind for the dogs but also for our 5 year old granddaughter, only point I would make I felt some areas of the house could have been a little bit cleaner but this definitely wouldn’t put us off from returning

Everything you need is there, the accommodation is well thought through with several helpful extras in case you forget anything. I must mention the quality of all furnishings- basically everything is high quality and you can feel the luxury! From brand new John Lewis bedding to snazzy coffee machine in the kitchen (pods included). Gareth was exceptionally helpful, a wonderful host. If you want a luxurious escape from reality with close access to a range of natural beauty spots then this is the place for you. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thank you!!

Excellent service from Sykes, Owner Gareth was so helpful.

All information prior to travel was received in a timely manner. On the day we were travelling I text the owner to advise we were driving later than expected and he text back to advise he would be there and what to look for as the lane would be quite dark. The property was very welcoming, warm and clean. The rooms are well set out and the beds really comfortable. Very kindly provided goodies on arrival too. Pet supplies included dog food, treats, lead and even water bowls and a bed!! Wifi, TV and board games available with a welcome file and information relating to the Lakes. Gareth recommended The Kings Arms which saved amazing food and drinks, the staff were so friendly. We were well placed and visited Ingleton Falls, Morecambe Bay, Kendal and Carnforth. Also an easy walk close by which takes you along the Canal. The kids had a riding lesson at Larkrigg Riding School, only 10 minutes away . We would definitely recommend this property, we had a lovely week and will consider a return.

The owner of the property was very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble, left us a lovely starter hamper with some yummy goodies in.

Very comfortable stay and ideally located for south lakes, we had a fantastic time. Very dog friendly too, provided water bowls, bed, food and treats, we did not need these but was nice to have incase we had forgotten anything. Really good stay, thank you.

Lovely welcome pack of basic necessities plus a few little extras. Generally clean but only negative thing was that due to the owners allowing pets, there were dog hairs everywhere in the main living area and the vacuum cleaner, when used, made the rooms really smell of dog.

Area was really good, ideal location for visiting the south Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and north Lancashire.

The house had lots of new equipment and the owners provided lots of food and drink which was not expected but really appreciated.
