“This is the second time we have stayed at The Potting Shed.”

The property is well laid out and spotlessly clean. There is outside space with a table and chairs which catches the sun from mid afternoon. Lovely to sit out with a glass on wine! When we arrived there was milk in the fridge and a super cake. The welcome pack was sent to us by email a couple of days before we arrived which is very useful. There is walking from the door and an OS map available for guests to use. The property is situated up a quiet lane not far from the bus route ( No 555) with an hourly service to the lake district. Steve the owner is very helpful if there are any queries.

It is light and airy and everything has been thought through. It has a lovely feel to it. The kitchen is very well stocked with good quality items. The outdoor sitting area so quiet and sheltered. The Potting Shed is in a good location for visiting the Lakes/Morecambe Bay etc. plus walking from the door. The owner sent information about the cottage on an email a couple of days before arrival which we found very useful. Thank you Steve and Allison, you have a gem of a place and we hope to return.

Clean tidy with everything you needed We were just annoyed that it was only after booking we were informed that it was a sykes cotrage.we keep away from sykes as during covid we lost a lot of money when they wouldnt refund even though the rules said they should when they had cancelled. I would definitely recommend this cottage We did eat at the local pub but we weren't very impressed. The staff were very nice but the food wasn't really up to standard. However there are some lovely places to eat in Kirkby Lonsdale which is only 20 minutes away by car.

.. this is common for a lot of Sykes cottages. We would prefer Saturday to Saturday rentals. Overall lovely cottage, very comfortable, modern and clean. Great to come back to after a busy day out walking. Location good for a range of activities including Lakes.

When we arrived, we were met by the owner and given a guided tour of the cottage, which was in pristine condition and had all of the creature comforts and a few added luxuries for good measure. Despite the property being situated with the grounds of the owners house, at no point did we feel that we were being over looked or had a lack of privacy. Overall, we had a cracking break in a lovely cottage that was perfect for exploring the Southern Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and the coast.

This elegant, lovingly-decorated holiday home boasts luxury furnishings and is set in an ideal location for discovering both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks. The cottage boasts a contemporary finish throughout and includes high quality features, such as a beautiful designer kitchen and a superb bathroom - you're sure to have a break to remember. This romantic retreat is set solely on the ground floor and has a beautiful open plan living space with original beams, a fabulous kitchen and a cosy, stylish sitting area with patio doors leading to a lovely patio. This cottage is a real delight, retaining much of the character of the original building, enhanced by the modern and well-thought out styling employed by the current owners. Settle outside on the spacious patio on sunny afternoons, enjoy a barbecue together, or simply relax and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple before taking a short walk around the village. Visit the village pub which is just a ten minute walk away from the cottage. An abundance of pretty walks and cycle routes are available right from the doorstep, whilst the nearby medieval Devil's Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Valley, a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, are well worth a visit. Lancaster and Kendal are also easily accessed and there are fantastic fishing and riding opportunities nearby, together with a choice of golf courses. Windermere and Ambleside are a short drive away and the pretty villages of Arnside, Sedbergh and Settle provide excellent days out. This quality cottage is an ideal getaway for exploring this beautiful area, at any time of year.

BURTON-IN-KENDAL

Kirkby Lonsdale 7 miles; Kendal 12 miles.

A small, traditional Cumbrian village set in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the peaceful Forest of Bowland. The village has a Post Office/general store, a butcher and a pub that serves good food. It lies 7 miles from the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and 12 miles from Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District. There is easy access to many areas of interest, with the historic city of Lancaster and the seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool all within easy reach. The acclaimed RSPB wildfowl reserve of Leighton Moss is only 4 miles away, while Morecambe Bay is also famous for birdwatching. Other locations well worth a visit are the villages of Silverdale and Arnside (overlooking the beautiful Kent Estuary), Ingleton, Settle and Clapham. Levens Hall (famous topiary) and medieval Sizergh Castle with a beautiful garden are nearby. Good pubs and restaurants are also abound in the area. There is plenty of good walking nearby, and golf, fishing and riding are all available locally.
