The dining area, which has beautiful oak furnishings, some dating back to 1600s offers the perfect setup for mealtimes. Refresh your culinary skills by whipping up a hearty dinner in the stylish kitchen, fully-equipped with an electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. There's plenty of space to sit on the high stools and chat or snack. A useful utility room for bike storage and drying, complete with a washer and dryer, means it doesn’t matter how muddy you get on your Lakeland adventures.
The family bathroom includes a walk-in shower and a roll-top bathtub, totally tempting for long- leisurely soaks. Head past centuries-old doors to stairs leading to three gorgeous bedrooms, two with super-king-size double beds and one with bunk beds. All enjoy stunning open views. World-renowned, quaint Cartmel is home to two Michelin star restaurants, including acclaimed L'Enclume, atmospheric gastro pubs and cafes, speciality shops, the famous Sticky Toffy Pudding and beautiful riverside and cobbled areas. Its medieval 12th century Priory and country’s smallest racecourse make the village a tourist mecca.
The southern tip of Lake Windermere, at Newby Bridge, is just a short drive away where you can enjoy a steam train ride, meandering to Haverthwaite. You can also embark on a Lakeland steam cruise from the jetty here to popular Bowness and Ambleside, which has The World of Beatrix Potter among its many attractions.
Close by is the elegant Edwardian seaside town of Grange-over-Sands, with its exceptional shops, including a chocolatier and award-winning piemaker and butcher. The lovely old railway station sees journeys progress up the picturesque coastline, or across the estuary viaduct to popular Arnside. Also within easy reach are the historic houses of Holker Hall, which hosts regular food festivals, and Levens Hall, with its world-class topiary garden.
