An absolutely stunning property in a stunning location.

We've stayed at Oak Tree Cottage 4 times now.

It's perfect for a couple, comfortable, clean and has got everything we need. We managed to enjoy sitting in the garden this time as the weather was beautiful. Handy for the village and all the pubs and restaurants and a short walk to the lake as well as the fells being super accessible from the door. Highly recommend.

The bathroom was outstanding!

Kitchen was much more then adequate, but could do with a little attention to detail; ie new frying pan, pasta bowls. Bedroom furniture was top quality but we found the mattress a little soft. TV in bedroom also nice! Lounge great, very comfortable! Very comprehensive and useful information pack. Also from the owner (Melanie!) lots of good information about walks, Coniston shops and facilities. Garden very good indeed, lovely outlook and totally secure and safe for our dog. A repair to the side gate from previous guests damage was repaired extremely quickly, and a personal note from Melanie to reassure us that this would be carried out was awaiting us on arrival. Great parking, good sized and well signed slot.

We loved oak tree cottage in coniston, great location as it was in walking distance of all the shops and pubs, fantastic views out the back and great access to all the walks around the area, the garden was perfect to let our dog out for toilet breaks at night and the hosts were very helpful and left a lovely little goodie box for our arrival.

The wood stove was easy to light and they left us a bundle of wood too, this was a lovely touch to keep us warm after a cold wet walk. The bathroom was huge and shower was lovely and powerful, one minor thing was the shower head and drain were a little dirty. Bed was really comfy and plenty big enough, the kitchen had all the appliances and utensils you could need for a short break and was very clean, I would recommend bringing all of your own supplies for making any food and drinks as there was no l coffee/ tea/ sugar but the hosts were kind enough to leave us a pint of milk. Also no foil for replacing the grill tray, there was even a dishwasher that we made use of saving us having to hand wash. I would highly recommend Oak Tree Cottage for a short stay anytime of year! Another lovely stay in Oak Tree cottage , very spacious for two people with all the amenities you would need , great location for local walks and not far out to visit other towns , lovely little welcome pack on arrival !

Plenty of room for us and our dog. Views are spectacular. Loved the bathroom. Appreciated the parking. Local shops and hotels are close by. Will defo be back as we had a lovely relaxing week.

Great location, with only a few mins walk into Coniston. The cottage was really cosy, with a fire burner, great cosy bed and brand new, powerful shower. We also appreciated the welcome package from the owner!

A working can opener and a small pan would be good, otherwise a lovely clean cottage

The cottage was was in the village to Coniston with all the walks very nearby so no need for the car .

We had a very comfortable stay in Oak Tree cottage.

Loved the light, spacious bedroom and large shower in the bathroom. The TV in the bedroom was a nice surprise and very welcome.The views from the garden were stunning and it was very pleasant sitting on the patio in the afternoon. The box of goodies was much appreciated. Cottage is a short walk into the centre of Coniston and 15 minutes from the lake. Ideally placed for walking up the Old Man and to Tarn How. Would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Coniston.

Wow what a lovely cottage we loved staying and didn't want to go home would love to live in it permanently, lovely welcome gift and milk in fridge we had a fantastic time lots lakes to visit and lots to see will hopefully be back next year would recommend this lovely cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage.

It's location in the village meant we were so close to all amenities , there's a variety of stunning scenic walks from the doorstep including over to Hawkshead and Grizedale forest then easy to catch a bus back or vice versa, easy to walk to the lake for a swim then with the additional comfort of the cottage, lovely log burner, excellent bathroom (the bath is perfect for a deep long soak after hard walks), comfortable bed and then the icing on the cake, the view from the garden beautifully relaxing and we especially liked the stable kitchen door so even when the weather was not so good we could still enjoy the view and let the outsdide in. Perfect.

This was our 3rd time at the cottage.

We just love this little gem, home from home, everything you could want is at hand. The views are spectacular. The owner Melanie is very helpful and goes the extra mile for you. We have already booked for next year.

Absolutely fabulous.

There is nothing not to like about Oak Tree cottage. Quaint and cosy,with breathtaking views and a secure garden with outdoor seating.Ideal position for the five minute walk into the village,where there's a choice of four pubs ( The Black Bull is the best! ).Numerous walks for all abilities on the doorstep. Highly recommend Oak Tree,it's a gem. It is on our " to do " list to stay again.

Warm cottage, excellent location & parking.

Fantastic views. Lovely owners, warm welcome. V comfy bed, kitchen & bathroom excellent. Just found the lounge seating was a bit stark, could do with softer furnishings, didn’t really fully relax in there..However, we do understand why it’s so because of dogs being allowed there. Not that much privacy from road but again, a personal observation . Light pollution from v bright street lamp into the bedroom did affect sleep quality but it might not bother guests who aren’t so light- sensitive! We appreciated the little welcome pack that Lakelovers issue, we’ve experienced these before, thank you.

Mattress was uncomfortable but that was only problem. Would definitely stay again. All the information the owner left in the cottage about the area and the history of the buildings we were in was very interesting and informative.

Perfect home from home, just outside the hustle and bustle of the village but close enough to push the wife in her wheelchair.

everthing that you need for a relaxing holiday. if you dont want to go out you can sit in the back garden evjoying the views. the yewdale pub is a nice friendly place to eat and drink (table service)

Good parking. Cottage is very clean and well laid out really comfortable with a modern large bathroom. Made use of the log burner. So many lovely walks in and around Coniston.

The owners really have done a great job on making this cottage a lovely relaxing and enjoyable stay . It was very clean and tidy and the layout was fantastic , with plenty of room . Very beautiful cottage, clean and tidy.

Well thought out layout. Well equipped and large kitchen. Fabulous bathroom and a lovely big bedroom. Quite often cottages for two are very compact but this was perfect. Great location for walking from the door. Off road parking was a bonus as we never use the car when we’re visiting the Lake District , so it was nice to know it was in a safe place. All in all 10/10, one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in for a while. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our stay great welcome pack! Recently upgraded tv DVD player didn’t work with tv! We only went to use it the last day so didn’t contact owners! We would return again!

We loved our stay at Oak Tree Cottage.

On arrival it immediately felt comfortable, clean and homely, enabling us to relax and enjoy our stay. The location was fantastic, with walking from the doorstep and Coniston's pubs and restaurants a short walk away. The cottage was exactly as described, great for our dog too and as a base to explore. We would definitely return and have already recommended to friends.

We had a lovely stay at Oak Tree Cottage.

The cottage was clean, comfortable, well maintained and had everything we needed. The garden was ideal for our dog and the view at the back of the cottage was fantastic.

The kitchen tap really needs correcting- the fitting has placed the tap levers at the rear of the tap instead of the front making it very difficult to use.

The tap drips badly after you’ve turned it off and it flows water very poorly.

Would highly recommend this beautifully finished cottage which has all the little touches you would look for. A lovely little hamper of local produce and milk in the fridge was a nice touch too. Thanks for a great stay.

Beautifully furnished and well stocked. A delightful welcome box which was much appreciated. Attention to detail second to none. Highly recomended along with the wonderful local walks. The Coppermine Valley is a must for all ages.

The cottage had everything you could want and was very clean and very comfortable, would love to return at some point.

Well-situated and a proper home from home. I overheard someone in a shop say that it’s unreasonable to expect pristine property in the Lake District. They clearly hadn’t tried Sykes Cottages.

Totally lovely cottage,gorgeous mountain view out the back garden.

Ideal location,plenty of great walks around the area,we absolutely loved our stay in Coniston. The cottage itself,is modern,well equipped,gorgeous open fire place..we didn't miss anything,could've easily stayed even longer,we felt very comfortable. Also the lovely welcome gift box(of a local shop- fudge,jam and biscuits) and to also find milk in the fridge was a very nice touch and very much appreciated. Thank you! Definitely recommend this beautiful place

Both cottages Holly Tree and Oak Tree are excellent and highly recommended.

Beautiful inglenook fireplace. Perfect situation. Very comfortable property for us and our dog. Lovely enclosed garden and really appreciated the off road parking. Would have liked to see some basic cooking ingredients like salt,pepper,cooking oil but other than that perfect stay. Lovely welcome parcel when we arrived too. Beautiful cottage. Very attractive, clean and comfortable little cottage with great facilities and a good location in Coniston.

Beautiful views. We felt that our stay could have been improved with a recycling provision on site rather than being directed to a community recycling point in the village. And the kitchen bin needs fixing. However, we would book again I’m sure, if visiting the South Lakes in future.

A fantastic little cottage, ideally placed for exploring the local area.

Great transport links to the other lakes and the owner provided a folder of local walks and information. It is difficult to turn out of the cottage in your car, as you can’t see what is coming, so it would be great to have a mirror attached somewhere, so it makes it easier to see what is coming. The cottage is clean, well stocked and has a great king size bed, which is very comfortable! Peaceful and a very happy place.

The views from the back garden are amazing of the mountains. The cottage has everything you need and plenty of space. Garden is really dog friendly. Its an ideal location into Coniston village and a ten minute walk from the lake.

The property is a lovely little end cottage on the main road into Coniston.

The road can be busy as the property is near the centre of the village but as such is very convenient for access to the centre. The property itself is perfect for two people (and a dog in our case). All the floors downstairs are hard and easy to clean when you come in from a rainy walk. The lounge is cosy and the kitchen is of a good standard. There were enough utensils. Upstairs feels warmer and is carpeted. The large bed is nice and reasonably comfortable and the bathroom facilities are great. It was nice to have some logs for the fire but there could have been some extra kindling. We received a small package of goodies which was a nice surprise. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and the property was just right for us. The location was perfect for us as it allowed easy access to the village and walks in the area, but it can be quiet busy at times. We did have an issue with a lose tap and radiator, but the owner was easy to contact and sorted it. We would definitely recommend this property and definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed staying at Oak Tree cottage and appreciated the thought and effort put into making the cottage such a lovely place to stay.

This was our second stay at Oak Tree Cottage and it was even nicer than the first because we knew the location , facilities , cleanliness, quality are all superb , a fantastic week , thankyou again.

We just loved this cottage, welcoming, homely, everything we needed was there.

The owners little touches, like our welcome gifts were beautiful. The enclosed garden was ideal for our little Westie, the parking is great, off road and at the rear of cottage. Loved the fact there was a big shower but also separate bath, the bedroom is big and plenty of room to put our laugage, the location is good, although on the road, but this didn’t seem to worry us, as a few minutes walk and you are in the centre of village with, pubs, shops and bus stop and some beautiful walks. The view from the rear of the cottage is stunning. We stayed for Christmas and we enjoyed our Christmas Eve walk to come back to the cottage, lite the fire and drunk the mulled wine, just one of the gifts the owner left for us, our little westie(Otto) also made himself at home, so a big thankyou to the owner for making our Christmas a memorable one. There were only 3 things that I would like to see at the cottage, 1. An outside tap, to wash our boots and to wash the dog down, we managed with a bowl of water, just didn’t want to bring any mud in the cottage. 2. A bigger maybe microfibre back door mat to absorb wet coming in from outside. 3. A new kitchen rubbish bin as the one there the lid wasn’t working properly, but these are only things that we felt were needed. We will be sure to book again, can’t wait to come back. Thank you.

Nice big bedroom and fantastic bathroom. Has everything you could need. Welcome pack and log burner already prepped were nice touches. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay with our 1 year old dog.

The cottage is clean and homely. There are beautiful views of Old Man Coniston from the garden and it was a secure space for our young dog. Kitchen and bathroom are both high quality. Just a short walk to the village but be aware that it’s on the main road so you do get a bit of traffic noise in the cottage and need to walk on the road for a short distance. Coniston is very dog friendly and the cafes and pubs were very welcoming.

Overall it is a lovely cottage in a perfect location close to some basic amenities.

However the mattress on the bed is awful you can feel the springs. Also poor quality duvet and pillows. Did not have the best nights sleep. Also the placemats were dirty. However close to amenities and the beautiful Coniston Lake. Lots of amazing local walks including the Old Man if your up for a challenge. Kitchen had all the things you could want. Parking an added bonus and a must with it being so busy at the moment. Having a lovely treat arrival welcome box was a lovely little touch. Just needs that mattress sorting.

The cottage was excellent.

Massive bathroom and all rooms a good size. Excellent location and a beautiful view from the garden. Garden was very dog friendly (unlike other cottages that we have stayed in). Really clean and the treat box was a lovely touch. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, beautiful sunshine all week! Lots of great walks, straight from the cottage and the village facilities are a short walk away. It was the best cottage that we have stayed in at the Lakes.

It's location , off road parking , dog friendly , facilities , could not fault any part of our stay.

This is a very clean and well equipped cottage with a stunning backdrop just 2 minutes walk from the centre of Coniston and is highly recommended.

The location is great, with views from the back of The Old Man of Conniston.

It is an easy walk to the activities on the lake; boating and paddling of all kinds. The pubs and shops of Conniston are very close. The cottage has been very nicely modernised, the bedroom and ensuite are spacious. It was cosy when the heavens opened to sit by the log burner.
