“Lovely cottage that was less than a 10 min drive to Penrith and Pooley Bridge.”

Very quiet and peaceful surroundings and a perfect place to rest after a day in the Lake District. My children loved the horse in the field next to rear garden and the cows/sheep in field opposite the property.

The property

A pretty sandstone cottage set amidst the abounding countryside in the small village of Catterlen. A cosiness welcomes you and your family and friends into the cottage through the utility with plenty of space to hang your coats and store your boots, which then leads through to the open-plan kitchen; well-appointed to ensure you have everything you need to prepare and cook a hearty meal. Walking from the kitchen leads you through a lovely hallway with a characterful window and exposed wooden beam resting over, dating back to when the property once housed the farm horses. The hallway takes you into the sitting room which hosts a formal dining table for you to enjoy evening pleasantries in style. Relax on the luxurious sofas that crowd around the gas fire, where you can exchange stories and plan for the days ahead or simply enjoy a good film together. Step out from the kitchen into the delightful courtyard which is bordered by beautiful sandstone of vivid shades, taken over by nature to bring bursts of inviting colour. Breathe in the cool air as you feel the gravel beneath your feet; you will be overjoyed by the verdant pastures surrounding the cottage, simply take a seat on the patio and soak it all up. As the last of the day's sun begins to fade over the rolling landscape of the Cumbrian countryside, find yourselves a place to rest your head with three lovely bedrooms to choose from upstairs. Head to Penrith of an evening where you can enjoy a nice meal at one of its excellent pubs or restaurants. During the day, the sandstone buildings hide some intriguing yards, lanes and alleyways, with a myriad of attractive gardens and shops to explore.
