    “A truly wonderful stay at, what we both agreed, was the best accommodation we’ve stayed in, in the Lakes, and we’ve stayed in many!”

    Chris and Julie couldn’t have been more helpful, both up to and during our stay, taking the time to give some useful tips for the area. The area itself is idyllic, in the far eastern part of the lakes, so a lot less busy and unspoilt than the tourist hotspots. Beautiful local walks include Kentmere, Longsleddale and the two tarns, at the top of the mountain (Gurnal Dubs and Potter) which you look out to. Eating out, a great choice of pubs, within half an hour, Punch Bowl and Black Labrador to ...

Beautiful local walks include Kentmere, Longsleddale and the two tarns, at the top of the mountain (Gurnal Dubs and Potter) which you look out to. Eating out, a great choice of pubs, within half an hour, Punch Bowl and Black Labrador to name but two. Stavely yard is also well worth a visit, particularly the More Artisan Bakery, for excellent food, especially the breakfasts. The accommodation itself has that perfect balance between modern luxury and character, with clearly a lot of thought put into the layout and finish and with everything you need for your stay. You even have your own access to the River Sprint, with a beautiful paddling/swimming spot just on the bridge as you drive in. All in all, a superb week. Already booked for next year.

Enjoying an idyllic position near the River Sprint in Garnett Bridge, Cumbria is this excellent, detached lodge of The Owl's Shack.

The perfect dwelling for a family of six's self-catering break in the Lake District National Park, Owls Shack enjoys close proximity to a range of fells and picturesque towns!

Three off-road parking spaces welcome you on arrival, along with those gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside; you can even spot sheep in the fields!

Progress inside to find a stylishly furnished open-plan living space, where the flickering flames of the woodburning stove entice you to curl up in front of the Smart TV.

After a moment of unwinding, make your way over to the kitchen, where you can rustle up delicious meals with ease, thanks to its fantastic selection of appliances, including the electric range cooker with double oven and 4-ring hob!

When dinner is ready, gather around the dining table and savour it over a glass of wine.

When sleep calls, head down two steps to bed in one of the three fantastic bedrooms, with two of these comprising king-sizes and en-suite shower rooms, and the latter room containing a bunk bed that is perfect for the little ones!

A highlight of the property has to be its garden, an enclosed space with amazing views of the fells, perfect for relaxing.

Cocks Close Estate

Cocks Close Estate is a 24 acre exclusive estate with half a mile of the River Sprint on one side and views up to the Fells and Mountains of the eastern Kentmere range on the other. The estate includes, ancient woodlands, pastureland and a 1 acre tarn. The estate rests on the outskirts of Garnett Bridge, Cumbria and is a fabulous selection of holiday lettings, including a large, stone-built cottage and three luxury, detached lodges that have been named after the animals that once made them their home. The lodges and their interiors have also been designed by the owners, giving them a very special touch! Outdoor enthusiasts will be delighted by the close proximity to the National Park, an area renowned for its outdoor adventures, including walks and cycling upon Cunswick Scar, Potter Fell, Whitbarrow - Lord's Seat, Kentmere and Sallows. Alternatively, venture to the town of Windermere offering a chance to enjoy canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, diving and boat trips, whilst Ambleside has even more great things to do for the entire family. A historic market town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate.
