Jenny's

This was our third time at Jenny’s and we found everything to be exactly as before.

Jenny’s is modern, comfortable, clean, well equipped, practical and fantastically located both for Hawkshead Village and the Windermere/Coniston area. The dedicated parking space immediately to the front of the property is the icing on the cake. We will no doubt be back for a fourth stay in due course.

Return visit to this clean , cosy cottage in central location in one of the nicest villages in the lakes , the cottage has everything needed for a relaxing stay & comfortable furniture & beds , we will be returning for future visits & all ready recommended to friends .

Our 5th visit to Jenny’s Cottage.

Perfect location and superbly kept up to date. We loved the new settees and decor. There’s pretty much everything you need in the cottage. It would be good to have some more comfy cushions for the outside chairs/bench which could also be used on the kitchen chairs. Not a big thing but just adds a bit more comfort. We’ve had another fabulous stay with weather to die for. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage.

Jenny’s cottage is central to Hawkshead but tucked out the way so is very quiet.

The cottage itself is comfortable and well maintained and well provisioned. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom with walk in shower is a good size. It’s all on one level with only one step up as you enter, should that be important to you. It has a small courtyard garden that is a sun trap. Parking for one car is right outside. Hawkshead itself is well located for day trips and with good walks emanating from the village, it also has 3 pubs and a number of eateries. We’ve stayed at the cottage a number of times and will undoubtedly return.

Surpassed our expectations.

Everything felt very new and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was excellent. Kitchen was well equipped. Smart TV and comfortable lounge. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay at Jenny's Croft again.

Fourth time staying at Jenny’s cottage never disappoints satisfactory for all our needs Comfortable well looked after cottage central position for Hawkshead village pubs restaurants tea rooms and shops all walking distance .

Jennys cottage had everything we needed for our week in the lakes.

Clean and tidy, towels and hand towels, a couple t- towels, the shower room was perfect just what you want after a long walk. Handy having a washing machine for a quick washes and a dishwasher. No problems with the heating, warms up very quick so we didn’t have it on for long it was just to take the chill off in the evenings. We were out during the day. We popped a few of the pubs for a drink after our walks they were all good, we Would recommend the Queens head for a meal it was delicious my husband had a steak and said it was the best he’d ever had, I had the Roasted salmon with mash and it was lovely

We have stayed at Jenny's many times and always appreciate the well maintained facilities and the convenience of being in the centre of Hawkkshead, plus a parking space!

It is easy to find local walks and the bus service is valuable. After a 3 year interval we notice that there is now a larger range of eating places. Billy's is nearby and, although not cheap, has an imaginative and delicious menu.This year we were blessed with sunshine every day but, even without that, Jenny's is one of our favourite places to stay.

Lovely cosy cottage in a prime location for walking routes in a lovely village with welcoming pubs, cafes & shops ,The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay comfortable beds & sofas plenty of kitchen utensils & spotlessly clean on arrival , we will definitely be returning for further stays & recommending to friends.

It appears to have been very freshly decorated throughout. Bonus of parking directly outside. Everything you need in the kitchen. Lovely stay and will definitely be back

The cottage was very clean, warm and well maintained and was very well equipped as well as very extensive TV packages, as we experienced some wet days and was grateful for the entertainment package.

The cottage was in the centre of Hawkshead and well situated for the shops and local pubs that gave excellent food and drink.

! Great location and really lovely accommodation.

Lovely accommodation in the heart of Hawkshead but lovely and tranquil , outdoor space was lovely to enjoy a glass of wine and being enclosed ideal for the dog .

Property had everything you need for a relaxing holiday with walks from the doorstep and pubs only seconds away. Would recommend. As previous reviews sofas could do with replacing but this is only minor problem and would not stop me booking the property again in the future .

The Holiday Property was stunning.

Living area very comfortable,had a lovely feel to it. Kitchen area very well equipped. Bedroom are comfortable bright and airy and a lovely little yard The property is central in Hawkshead on a bus route and plenty of walks in the area. Beautiful would highly recommend.

Cottage is the ground floor of a 2 story house and is central to Hawkshead but off the tourist trail, ideally located.

Easy parking for 1 car. Cottage itself is clean and comfortable with all the facilities you’re likely to need. Decent size kitchen area and newly refurbished bathroom. Small enclosed patio area. 2 minute flat walk to get to the centre of Hawkshead and the pubs and eateries. We’ve stayed there 3 times and definitely would again if in the area. Hawkshead itself is a good base to stay, away from the bustle of Ambleside and other towns but with easy travel access to places of interest.

Jenny’s Cottage is lovely and perfect for a comfortable week’s stay in Hawkshead.

There is everything you need in the kitchen. The cottage is well proportioned and it’s lovely to have the option of the two different seating areas dependent on where the sun is. We made good use of the internal courtyard on an evening whilst the picnic table at the front was great in a morning. The beds are comfy as are the two 2 seater settees. We used the garden chair cushions for the dining room chairs as I found those a little uncomfortable but that’s a real minor thing. The shower has been replaced since our last visit in 2020, which is very nicely done. (this was our 4th time here by the way). The cottage is perfectly situated for all amenities. There are lots of pubs, cafes and eateries in Hawkshead itself and a decent Co-op for anything you may need. Whilst you’re very close to the hubbub of village life you’re tucked out of the way so it’s quiet. No doubt we’ll be back we love it. We’re so pleased that the owner started taking dogs again, I’m glad I checked as we had a break from 2020 to 2025.

Jenny’s cottage is a comfortable, well equipped property with easy parking.

I can’t fault it as great place to stay near to the village centre. The beds were very comfortable with hotel standard cotton sheets and lovely soft towels. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to make for an easy life whilst away. There’s a lovely area inside the front door for coats, shoes etc. and a private outside seating area ideal for relaxed breakfasts or leisurely evening meals. We had a great stay thank you!

Loved the cottage and location was perfect.

One drawback for us was the height of the sofas too low for us perhaps some raiser would help to lift them we sat on the garden chairs!!we shall certainly be back.

We had an amazing stay at Jenny’s cottage.

The perfect space and location for a half term escape with the dog. We had one issue on the first day but the maintenance team and out of ours contact worked speedily to sort it out (and on a Sunday!). That I really appreciated and allowed us to continue our holiday in the best way. We loved: the routes from the doorstep (to Grizedale forest, Ambleside and Tarn Howse); the space available in the property and the privacy; how well stocked the kitchen was there was EVERYTHING you would need to cook. It made it a comfortable home away from home for the whole week. Also the dog friendly Red Lion pub, a very well stocked Coop and local deli made sure we never went hungry or needed to drive elsewhere to restock. We didn’t move the car the whole week. The only criticism is we couldn’t find a pen to write in the visitors book.

Just back from a lovely, peaceful, relaxing & comfortable stay over New Year at Jenny's cottage.

2 adult couples + small dog very comfortable in this space. Warm, fresh, bathroom had been renewed and was very clean, modern and has a gorgeous walk in shower. Comfy beds, plenty of hot water all day, parking for 2 cars infront on one another. Loved it. Footsteps from Queens Head pub and all Hawkeshead has to offer. Lovely place. Thanks for having us.

We loved the property it was fantastically close to all the shops and pubs in the village, but a few things drove us nuts the shower first of all we could never get it warmer than lukewarm to cold and this was when then the water was hardly coming out.

Second thing the second bedroom was made up as a twin which we didn’t ask for and my poor elderly mother that is 4ft nothing couldn’t get into them without help. Still we all had a lovely time and was really happy with the property all in all.

We had difficulty contacting either Lakelovers or Sykes re our request for lighter tog duvets x 2 single.

Several calls said they would do what they could and get back to us. Sadly I had to make a call, and was told that our issue had been updated several hours earlier, according to log, but no one had called us. We never got lighter tog duvets. At a previous holiday in Hawkshead at Gooseyfoot, we made a similar request and within the day said duvets were delivered to the apartment. Seems since being under Sykes umbrella service is not as personal. We found it very uncomfortable sleeping under the duvets supplied, especially as the whole five days were gloriously warm.

We really enjoyed our time at Jenny’s.

The property was clean and well maintained, there was a good supply of kitchen equipment and utensils. The bed was really comfortable and the sofas too. The only thing we would suggest is that there be clear instructions to advance the heating, this we worked out in the end but would have helped. We enjoyed lots of great walks from the door and the little shopping area was nice to potter round.

Lovely cottage lacked a few more essentials like more than 1 toilet roll for a week and 1 bath and 1 hand towel!

Lovely cottage, well furnished and excellent base for the lakes

This property is in a good position: right near the centre of Hawkshead but still very quiet.

The courtyard is lovely, but the stone surface to the ground is difficult for someone will reduced mobility. A rail in the shower would be very useful. There was no salt in the pot! But that's a small thing - generally, it was excellent.

Ideal location, 1 minute walk into centre of village with good parking for 1 car.

Well appointed kitchen, good bathroom with brilliant shower. Plenty of storage and comfy beds. Small patio with seats and table. Our second time there and would be happy to stay there again.

Very comfortable property.

Walking distance to all amenities in Hawkshead is a huge bonus Especially enjoyed private seating area off the bedroom is a wee sun trap. Wouldn’t hesitate a return visit visit to Jenny’s

Great cottage - wonderful location.

The is a little gem of a ground floor cottage. Well decorated and in excellent condition. Kitchen very well equipped. Beds comfortable. Communication with owner excellent. Definitely recommend an would happily stay again.

Fantastic location to the village.

Well appointed kitchen, Could do with a little more cupboard space in the kitchen to put the groceries. A shaving mirror in the bathroom. Fridge noises could be a problem when trying to watch the TV or having a conversation

Enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed.

The kitchen had enough crockery and cooking equipment should you wish to self cater ((which we didn't). Also a dishwasher. Very comfortable cottage and would stay again.

A great stay at Jenny's in a wonderful location.

Fittings and equipment and so on all very thoughtful that made a lovely stay. Lovely court yard garden out the back. I marked down comfort by 1 star because the 2 two seater settee's were great for the two of us staying but would have been a squeeze if we'd had to share. I know this happens everywhere but a summer weight duvet would have been nice - we were very hot; the beds were very comfortable. All linen was very good. I would highly recommend. Note - not a criticism just an observation for you to get on top of - the lovely shower had just a couple of little spots of black mould that I wouldn't like to see get out of hand and spoil what is an amazing shower room

The cottage is ideally located for the centre of Hawkshead being a very short walk into the village.

It is easy to find and has good parking. Inside it has 2 good size bedrooms with comfy beds, well laid out kitchen and bathroom with a good shower. The seating area is comfortable. Outside is a small enclosed courtyard that catches the afternoon/evening sun. The cottage is on a single level so if mobility is an issue this property should be ok. The upper storey is a separate property that was vacant whilst we were there. We would definitely stay there again if we revisited the village.

Property is well equipped and in a fantastic location.

It is very comfortable and was a great base. Good parking and a couple of minutes walk to village centre. There was no welcome pack so bring tea bags, milk etc It’s sold by Sykes as no pets but is actually pet friendly and welcomes dogs! Twin beds available but these were not made up and bedding not available to do this yourselves. There are no recycling facilities provided and it’s advised to put recycling in main bin but there are facilities in the local car park. The property hadn't been thoroughly cleaned but this has been raised and hopefully will be resolved for future users.

Fabulous little one floor cottage, warm and comfortable, top notch kitchen equipment, smart TV and in a great little village made all the better as there's no through traffic in the village due to a bypass.

is property was nothing like the property we booked and i was most upset to get an e mail the day before we arrived at primrose mount sent to my computer which i had no way of seeing as computer was at home We left home at 10 am on the friday as we had booked an over night stay in morecambe so that the travelling was not too much for me as i had been in hospital with pneumonia earlier in october l really do think you could at least have phoned me I definately would never consider a holiday with you agaln

Loved this property.

Both the position of it and the facilities in it. The reason for a low mark regarding comfort is because (as an elderly couple) we both found the settees very low to the ground and difficult to get out of. Also found that front door a bit tricky to use. Maybe needs a squirt of WD40

Had a lovely stay in Jenny's cottage, great location.

The cottage was clean and had everything you possibly need.Yhe walks are fabulous around Hawkshead,so easy to follow.We stayed in Hawkshead 52 years ago for our honeymoon,but have visited lots of times.The only problem is getting a meal at some of the pubs,This is because of having no staff,it's ashamed for the village,and they have tried to sort things as much as possible.So once again a great stay.Sue and Tom.

Lovely property, very warm and cosy.

Very close to the centre of town and easy access to the countryside for walks. Double beds are really comfortable and a great upgrade. Only downside is the inability to dry clothes. It is rainy season, but also warm. There is no dryer in the property and we did not want to put the heating on ! There appeared to be no outside washing line...

Owner has clearly invested time and money into making the cottage appealing, interiors are beautiful. Fully equipped kitchen, again all lovely. We didn’t use the small courtyard due to weather but would have in dryer conditions!

Really nice and cosy holiday home

An absolute gem of a holiday cottage.

Very clean and comfortable. the shower was very good and plenty of kitchen utensils, bowls etc. The bedrooms were lovely and the beds comfortable. The cottage was situated in the centre of Hawkshead and once parked up you didn't really need to use your car as there were plenty of amenities on the doorstep as well as good walking. We couldn't fault it other than possibly the lack of a dvd player,( a very minor issue) but the smart TV was more than adequate so not really a problem. A really lovely little cottage. Will definitely go back.
