    “Gatesgarth is just as fabulous in real life as it looks in the photos.”

    The split level open plan design worked brilliantly for our group, creating a sociable environment where you all felt connected whether on the ground or first floor. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need including a handy Quooker tap and there’s plenty of space around the table for eight or more. The architect has done a brilliant job designing it, there’s a real wow factor to it, with the expanses of glass framing the wonderful view. The bedrooms are all superb with en-suite ...

The architect has done a brilliant job designing it, there’s a real wow factor to it, with the expanses of glass framing the wonderful view. The bedrooms are all superb with en-suite bathrooms, so there’s no issue with anyone feeling they’ve drawn the short straw. There’s plenty of parking and there are pubs and shops within easy walking distance. We walked from the house and did an epic long walk around and up to the Old Man of Coniston and had everything from wind, fog, sleet, snow and then sunshine to enjoy the amazing view; magnificent! Thank you to the family who own it for making this fabulous house available for us to enjoy. Would definitely come back and recommend.

CONISTON

Hawkshead 4 miles; Ambleside 8 miles.

Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing. A first class holiday location at any time of the year.
