Lavender Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at Lavender Cottage.

The cottage was comfortable and very well equipped with a lovely little garden with views of the lake and fells. Parking, using the parking permit, at the little car park nearby then walking the short distance along the old railway line to the cottage was very easy. The permit could also be used at a few other car parks around. We enjoyed the short walk (5-10 mins) to Coniston in the evening to catch a bite to eat. Steam bistro was particularly good. And there were good walks from the doorstep. All great!

Lovely cottage, comfortable and warm with an excellent well equipped kitchen.

The only downside was the garden which is indeed enclosed (and beautiful with amazing views) but is not joined on to the house. It is across a road so you can’t just open the door to let the dog outside. The back door also opens on to shared space so there is nowhere to let a dog out safely.

The cottage's main positives are it's position high above the village and the view of the lake from it's garden.

We have visited Coniston yearly for the last 30 years and this is our first stay in Lavender Cottage. The cottage is quite tired and well worn in places especially the soft furnishings and bedding, also some plaster is cracking off the walls and there is black mould in the bathroom however the kitchen is totally ridiculous, it seems every cupboard has been filled with useless clutter and there is nowhere for guests to store their supplies apart from on the worktops, every cottage we have stayed in has had cupboard space available for guests! The kitchen also has a foisty smell especially from the base cupboards at the fridge end. As always we enjoyed our time in Coniston, we have stayed in lovely cottages over the years always in one of the 2 rows of miners cottages and we would rate this cottage as average.

Great location and everything we needed for our weekend stay!

Very comfortable cottage in excellent position.

The Parking Permit was greatly appreciated and a major reason we would use this cottage again (because of the tricky parking nearby) The only thing we feel could be improved would be instructions for the log burner and an empty cupboard in the kitchen for food provisions.

Lavender Cottage is beautiful and just as the photos show.

It is so convenient for the local pubs in Coniston and also great walks straight from your door so you can park your car and leave it for the week if you wish. Would highly recommend.

A wonderful cottage in a wonderful location.

Although it can be a steep pull up from the Black Bull after too many pints of Bluebird Bitter. The cottage was extremely well equipped. We will certainly be returning

Lovely cottage.

Cosy and well equipped. The fire was great as we needed to get the downstairs warm. We would have liked some instructions as to how to use the fire and perhaps a few starter logs/kindling etc to get us going. Otherwise we had no complaints at all.

Lavender cottage was a gem to visit.

The owner has provided everything you could wish for. The information left is very informative and if the weather not so good , there is a plentiful array games, books and dvds to keep anyone happy. The lady has really thought of everything and I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone going to visit this area. The only thing I would say is if you are going in the later part of the year when ice or snow, then the roads in the area could prove very challenging to drive.

A little gem ideally located for walks and Coniston itself as long as you don’t mind a bit of a hill back to the property.

The welcome goodies was a very nice touch and gratefully received. The cottage is very tastefully dressed and felt very cosy. Personally for me the only issue was the mattress it was very flimsy and gave me a bad back but the rest was amazing

We had a lovely stay in Lavender Cottage.

The views were spectacular and the garden was a real bonus for enjoying the view while eating out. The cottage has lovely charm and was presented to a high standard. Coniston is a super place to explore and this cottage proved to be an ideal base!

Fantastic cottage with everything you could possibly need for your stay.

The beautiful garden was a highlight with the most amazing views. Only a quick short walk into coniston made a great location. We didn't want to leave!

We loved Lavender Cottage - it has such a calm, relaxing feel about it and the views are amazing.

We really appreciated all the helpful instructions and welcome gifts. We very rarely return to the same holiday cottage but will definitely consider staying here again.

We had a great stay at Lavender Cottage.

The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need. It would have been nice to have had the heating on for arrival as it was a chilly first impression but the cottage soon warmed up. We had brought our own logs and matches, however a lack of kindling meant we had to go out to get some before we could light a fire. Perhaps a starter pack for the fire could be considered. The cottage was clean, cosy and very tastefully decorated. Very pleasantly and conveniently situated for walking from the door. Be aware the lane to get to the cottage is very tight! Car parking a short walk away but we packed and unpacked the car at the door so this wasn't a problem. We'd definitely return to the cottage. The garden would be fantastic in summer months! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Welcome treats were much appreciated. Views over Coniston from cottage are beautiful and lovely to wake up to every morning First time we have stayed in Coniston and it did not disappoint Hopefully we will be back

This was certainly one of the nicest cottages we have stayed at.

Exceptionally clean throughout, cosy and comfortable. It had great views over Coniston and was ideally placed for great walks to some of our favourite places. We didn’t use our car all week! We would definitely pay this cottage another visit.

Lavender cottage is a beautifully dressed little cottage with all you need to have a lovey break. all of the little thoughts in how to present the place were wonderful, from the book detailing all about the cottage and what to do locally to the little maps on the book shelf the whole place was a proper home from home. Thank you for such a lovely stay

The cottage was perfect - amazing location and views, immaculately clean, well-equipped with really nice quality appliances, the bedding and towels were lovely quality.

We would definitely recommend it and hope to be able to visit again. We did find it a bit tricky to find by car, but parking at the little car park close by and walking was very easy. Thank you!

Lovely homely cottage everything that we could possibly need was provided.

All equipment and furnishings to a high standard. A little difficult to find and information received beforehand stated we could get in at 3 pm but it was actually 4 pm. Cottage was close enough to Coniston to walk into and some very nice places to eat.

Lovely cottage.

Location superb. Views second to none. Garden terrace great for a tipple at days end weather permitting. Been to the Lakes many times but never to Coniston. Village is a piece of Old England

A charming cosy cottage with stunning views from the Garden.

A lovely welcome pack on arrival Well equipped kitchen, hot water and comfortable beds. Local shop and takeaways a 10 minute walk away. The Railway line a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. On a beautiful sunny day which we were lucky enough to have, it's such a beautiful place to sit in the Garden and look at the stunning scenery and relax. We will be back

The cottage was perfect, with everything we needed.

The views are spectacular and the walk into Coniston takes about 10 minutes. Could not recommend this place more highly. We will definitely return!

What a lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting.

The owner had thought of everything and more for the perfect stay! We loved the view of course, the garden out the front is fabulous but the little touches like the handbook with some really useful advice on the area, the welcome pack and all the kitchen equipment was five star! Already recommended to friends and family. Also thanks to Sykes for the phone call checking everything was great, never had this level of customer service before, a really good experience.

Lavender cottage is beautiful, we enjoyed spending time in the garden, the views are spectacular and outdoor seating both at the top and bottom levels of the garden perfect.

The parking pass is excellent, we used in Hawkeshead. I think it would be a good idea to mention this in the cottage description, as there isn't much space for parking right next to the cottage. However with the pass there are a few good options close by. We did manage to park on the banks, next to the cottage the 4 nights we were there. The cottage was perfect size for us and our little dog, had everything we could have wanted and more. Welcome pack was amazing! We appreciated it all. Only one slight issue we had was the front door, very difficult to open and lock. Also a few of the internal doors stuck at times, just minor things that could easily be put right, and didn't effect the enjoyment of our stay. We would highly recommend this lovely cottage and will definitely be back.

Lovely place for a weekend stay in the summer.

Comfortable furnishings and obviously newly decorated, pictures probably understate it. Good shower with hot water enough for 4 of us. Fabulous views from the garden. Was slightly concerned about parking but the Old Station Car Park is an easy couple of minutes walk and owner has provided a permit (we didn’t know this so had paid for 24h parking but at £9 was good value). No EV chargers in Old Station Car Park but the ones in other car parks didn’t seem overly busy. Probably not an issue 90% of the year but maybe a fan for each bedroom might be good for nighttime, we were reluctant to open windows as a few midges around!
