“Stepping stones riverbank cottage is the perfect place to relax and unwind!”

It’s in a great location to explore the lakes and we couldn’t have asked for anything more! The only feedback I would give is I think the enclosed private patio area is a bit misleading as I thought we would have a safe place to let our dog out but this wasn’t an enclosed area so would’ve been great to have a place that we knew she was safe in outside.

“A beautiful property which is extremely well maintained to a high standard.”

Heating set to be on twice a day and easy to override should you need to. Perfect location for scenic walks into Grasmere and Ambleside, no need to use your car unless you wish to travel further. Will definitely book again :)

. lovely cottage with amazing views of the river and countryside. The cottage has everything you need and is a perfect Winter getaway destination (and Summer I imagine).. only a 20-25 min walk to Ambleside and is well placed to walk to Rydal Water and beyond to Grasmere too. On Sykes it says dog friendly but in the cottage handbook it says no pets allowed but I think that might be an old handbook and we were fine with our little pooch.. the outside grounds aren’t secure but it was no problem nipping out with her for loo visits. If I had to be picky I’d possibly say a new tv would be great for next time and even a new mattress but no biggie. Looking at booking here again for our annual pre Xmas getaway next year.. loved it..

“The cottage location is lovely.”

It has everything you need for a holiday property. Privacy roller blinds for the windows would be a good idea as quite a few people walked by and looked through the window. It would save the Roman blinds being pulled and blocking out the light. Whilst the property was clean the number of cobwebs should be addressed. Overall a lovely cottage in a great location.

“Riverbank cottage is an amazing gem location is spectacular where you can park your car up and take walks from your doorstep.”

Ambleside, Grasmere and Rydal water are close by to explore. As for the cottage very well equipped for everything you could need a welcome pack and fire logs where a nice touch , I can fully recommend Riverbank cottage for a breakaway in the beautiful Lake District

“This property is in an excellent location, with a lot of character to the building.”

However, the cleanliness of the property needs attention. Dust webs, dirty kitchen appliances, bread crumbs left in bread bin. Around the flooring, dust & dirt. Dirty cupboard doors. Dirty soap dispensers in the bathroom. There should be a sign outside the front door, warning people of the slippery tiles when wet…accident waiting to happen. The property met all our living needs for a weeks stay. Would have been nice to have logs for the fire.

“Beautiful location.”

I understand it is due a refurbishment and that was reflected in the price. A welcome pack would have made all the difference, we had to fo back out for milk & tea after driving all the way down from Scotland. Also some information leaflets. Staying in October the weather was turning chilly and yet the timed heating didn't come on until around 10am and then went off shortly after, we never figured out when it came back on again. It would have been good to have been provided with a few logs as we were looking forward to arriving at dusk and having a fire. Just one or two clothes washing tabs would also have been appreciated. Very slippery in the bathroom without a bathmat or anything to soak up the water. It is a beautiful old cottage and with relatively little money and more thought could be a welcoming home from home.

RYDAL

Ambleside 1.6 miles; Grasmere 2.7 miles.

Lying to the north of Ambleside and Windermere, Rydal is a charming unspoilt village full of history and which has changed little in the last two hundred years. Rydal Water with its shoreline walks adds an extra tranquillity to the location, which is one of the central most points of the Lake District. Home to William Wordsworth for some years there are many walks spreading out from Rydal with spectacular views.
