“Great property - nice homely touches making it more than somewhere to sleep.”

The kitchen has all the pots, pans, and crockery you need - no extras in the cupboards, other than salt and pepper. Therefore, you will need to take all food, etc., with you if cooking from scratch. The bedrooms are very nice and cosy - the main bedroom has a large wardrobe and drawers, but no vanity unit if that's your thing! Plenty of plug sockets. Outside space is lovely, overlooking the lake. For small kids, the boundary wall is climbable, about 3ft, but a drop over 6ft at the other side, ...

Outside space is lovely, overlooking the lake. For small kids, the boundary wall is climbable, about 3ft, but a drop over 6ft at the other side, so they need to take care - also for escape dogs - can't be left unattended. Nothing in the cottage for dogs, so need to take all bowls, bedding etc. The above comments are not criticisms, but are meant to help people when planning. I would definitely stay here again

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the cosy bedrooms, homely touches, and lovely lake views. Unfortunately, due to the large patio doors and the lake view, there isn’t room for a vanity unit in the main bedroom, but there is one in the twin room. As a self-catering property, guests will need to bring their own food, so your tips about planning ahead will be helpful to others. All our properties are dog-friendly, but we don’t offer dog-secure cottages as we like to keep the estate open, and we don’t provide dog items, as most guests prefer to use their own. We’re also grateful for your helpful advice regarding children and outdoor safety, and it’s wonderful to hear you’d consider staying with us again. We’d be thrilled to welcome you back anytime! About the location

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
