“This was our first time to this area of the lakes and it didn't disappoint!”

Dufton is quaint with a central green and a pub which had great food by the way, we particularly enjoyed the quiz night (Thursday). The accommodation is excellent, everything has been thought of along with a lovely welcome basket of food. You can see that Shepherds View Is loved by the owners Carole & Simon. The accommodation is excellent, everything has been thought of along with a lovely welcome basket of food. You can see that Shepherds View Is loved by the owners Carole & Simon. We stayed 5 nights, lots to see and do in the area from walks from SV to trips out, all the information you’ll need has been carefully put together by the owners in a book inside the cottage, this we found most helpful. We would highly recommend.

About the location

DUFTON

Appleby-in-Westmorland 3 miles; Penrith 13 miles.

The attractive, unspoilt rural village of Dufton is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley. The village has a pub, which serves good food, an Agricultural Show held on the last Saturday in August, and is just three miles from the historic town of Appleby. At the heart of the lush Eden Valley, Appleby-in-Westmorland is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain; still today, many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. Enjoy a walk on the Pennine Way at Dufton, or explore one of the local cycle trails. With the delightful Pooley Bridge, Penrith and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

Please note - dogs are not permitted to sleep on and/or in the bed.
