“We stayed at Nutkin Cottage as a family of five on the run up to Christmas.”

The house is beautiful and having the three bedrooms and three bathrooms it was perfect. The house had been decorated for the festive season and so along with the real fire it was the perfect Christmas escape. We could not fault this house in any way; the decor and furnishings were all wonderful including the use of a high chair for our 6 month old. The location is ideal being a few minutes walk from Windermere shops, cafes and restaurants and we managed to park outside the house using the permit every day with no problems. We had a fantastic stay and we definitely plan to return. We would highly recommend Nutkin Cottage.

With amenities and attractions, a stone's throw away, this classic Lakeland cottage offers a family of six a lovely home from home with a private garden, high-quality amenities, and beautifully furnished living areas. All rooms are finished to a high-quality standard, making this a wonderful retreat to the Lake District. The living/dining room immediately welcomes you with a large, stylish dining table to host family dinners and celebrate special occasions. Moving into the sitting area, two sumptuous armchairs and a sofa invite you to settle down by the warmth of the characterful open fire, whilst a film of your choice plays on the Smart TV. Just next door is the kitchen, finish to a high standard with an electric oven, gas hob, washing machine and dishwasher; savour breakfast for two at the bistro seating, or perhaps dine outside in your private garden! This multi-level space is a secluded spot to enjoy a glass of bubbly, whip up dinner on the barbecue, and hideaway in the cushioned alcove with a good book. After a busy day exploring the Lakes, head to the first floor to freshen up in the pristine bathroom with a bath, shower over, and heated towel rail for added comfort. This floor also hosts a twin room with lovely blue tones, a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, whilst two lucky guests have the second floor to themselves. This king-size bedroom has views across Windermere, a Smart TV for those lazy mornings, and an en-suite shower room. Start your mornings with a cup of coffee in the front patio with outdoor seating, while you plan the day's agenda! Shops, pubs and restaurants are all close by, such as San Pietro Windermere for Italian cuisine, Tapios for Spanish tapas, and The Pig for British staples and beer, while you can stock up at the local convenience store. You'll have so much to see and do in this bustling town, such as cruises, including private cruises and sail and dine options, watersports on Lake Windermere, finding familiar faces at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, and hiking up to Orrest Head Viewpoint for panoramic views. An abundance of sights and hikes scatter the lake including the National Trust's Wray Castle, and Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's country farmhouse, and walks to the top of Claife Heights. Spend the day in Ambleside to wander the Roman Fort, spend a rainy day at Ambleside Climbing Wall, and visit the picturesque Stock Ghyll Force. Discover local heritage in Grasmere for guided tours of William Wordsworth's former home, idyllic walks around the River Rothay, and the National Trust's Allan Bank and Grasmere. Thrill seekers will find unforgettable hikes up Scafell Pike, Fairfield Peak, and The Old Man of Coniston, to name a few!
