Beech - Woodland Cottages

This was our 4th stay at Beech Cottage and didn't disappoint again.

Fantastic location, gorgeous rooms and an amazing view and perfect for a large group getaway.

We stayed at woodland cottages for a long weekend for my husbands 60th, along with our children and grandchildren and my mum.

So 4 generations and each of us had a fabulous time and were extremely comfortable. You are given access to the website after booking, which is very informative and well set out. The cottage was beautiful 5 bedrooms all equally good sizes, 3 with ensuite facilities. Hot tub was lovely easily accessible, each member of tye family took full advantage of. The kitchen is well equipped with literally everything you could think of. You are left tea bags. Coffee. Milk etc to get you started on your arrival. Great quality eco friendly cleaning products. The log burner is fabulous as it did get a little chilly at night and gave a lovely cosy feel. The beds were all very comfortable with clean linen. There was one staff member onsite that weekend who could not have been nicer and more helpful. He really is a credit to the team. We stayed in beech cottage which I think seems to have the best views of the countryside etc We had sheep. Deer, rabbits, squirrels and a multitude of different birds all around the cottage. Which my grandchildren loved. We went into bowness and windermere which is literally a few minutes in the car or half an hour walk. Bowness is a beautiful little town with lots to see and do. I can't recommend enough thanks oak team for making our memories all that more special

We really loved Beech Cottage.

A fantastic location for walking, literally out of the front door onto public footpaths, and also really convenient for Bowness, Ambleside and heading further out into Cumbria. We would love to go back again.

We were a group of 9 family & friends celebrating 2 65th birthdays.

The cottage was very comfortable & very well equipped. We relaxed in the hot tub every day but thought it was dangerously close to the edge of steps down into garden. One of the ladies did have a fall, fortunately she was not hurt! We had a couple of walks into Bowness-on-Windermere for shopping & eating out. We had a wonderful stay & will definitely return

Beautiful cottage and really well stocked the ducks visiting us every day was a bonus

The location was convenient and Windermere, easily accessible, adding to the overall positive experience.

The rooms were kept impeccably clean, ensuring a comfortable stay for all. Although there was an initial issue with a leaking toilet, it was promptly addressed upon reporting. Overall, the place was close to perfect, and offered a memorable experience.

Had a family gathering so used two houses.

The cottages are in a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of space in Beech for two families of four. Our tumble dryer pipe was blocked, it was fixed straight away. Thanks for a lovely week!

Staff even came on a Sunday to fix the oven. Above and beyond

Loved our stay at the lodge, we've been many times before and we will be back again soon.

Beautiful cottage, easy walk to town with other low level walking accessible from the grounds

We had a pleasant stay, but aspects of the cottage were quite 'tired.

' There was room for improvement with the cleanliness. For instance there was a tampon and some socks under drawers in a bedroom, loose change under the table in the lounge, plus a number of cobwebs.

Excellent property, everything we wanted for a wonderful break.

The hot tub with amazing views was fantastic. We would like to thank the owners for being extremely accommodating when we needed to change our dates due to a sudden bereavement.

We had a wonderful family holiday at Beech - Woodland Cottages.

There was plenty of space for the five adults and four children in our party. The facilities were great, well appointed and comfortable. The location was very peaceful with wonderful countryside views out the back. It was nice and close to Bowness, which is right on Lake Windermere and near to many amazing Lake District attractions. The only slight issues were the lack of a safe walking route into Bowness, it’s fine for adults but we didn’t want to walk with the children. Also, the hot tub is amazing but you can’t see the view when you’re sat in it! These are minor gripes, we had a wonderful time and have already recommended to friends and family!

All guests were happy with their holiday our party all over sixty so walk into centre was a bit of challenge but done us good, definitely book woodland cottages again.

We found this a perfect holiday destination, the stunning views every morning were a joy, to sit there with a morning cuppa.

We found the cottage clean, user friendly with everything there you would need, even down to a dish cloth. The staff on hand were friendly and informative, the.morning alarm clock of sheep bleating, to sleeping listening to owls hooting, was fabulous,we are looking to re book....fabulous holiday

A lovely, quiet place to stay!

Facilities are well looked after and everything is kept to a high standard, including cleanliness! We loved staying here and would highly recommend to anybody who is looking for a relaxing stay! The cottage is situated within a close drive to Bowness-on-Windermere and is a great location for anybody looking to explore the whole of Lake Windermere.

Had a wonderful week blessed with good weather.

Cottage was warm and cosy, spa was private with a great view over the fields. Comfy beds, hot showers. Good location walking distance to Bowness.

We had a wonderful stay at Beech Cottage, the cottage itself was very comfortable and cosy with the fire.

The kitchen was well stocked with utensils/pots etc. The owners had taken on previous feedback and there is soap in all bathrooms. The showers were very powerful which was great, there was always enough hot water for us all to shower in the morning. The location was ideal for exploring surrounding towns and national trusts, as well as being able to explore around the cottage. The fire alarm was set off by the neighbouring cottage the first 2 nights but this was quickly managed and someone was sent down to investigate. The free firewood was a kind gesture for the inconvenience. Thank you for a relaxing stay and we look forward to visiting again,

Positives The hot tub was great. The setting was stunning with fantastic views and lots of wildlife to observe. The ducks were fun coming to visit you and even having a walk around the kitchen. The cottage was lovely and comfortable. Beds were great, very comfy. It was quiet apart from one evening when one cottage broke the rules and were noisy in the hot tub and partying till early hours (there's always one ignoramus). Internet WiFi was generally good (30 Mbps) but dropped out now and then. Reconnecting resolved the issue. Negatives There was mould growing in some of the bathrooms and one of the bath plugs was broken. The fact that you pay £1.6 to £2.5k prices and then are expected to gather the linen and towels (holidays are to get away from housework). I feel it's a bit cheeky to be asking as that's what you hire staff to do. Even a Travelodge doesn't expect you do strip linen, however a minor annoyance and didn't take long. Minor criticisms but overall fantastic Thank you

The property had everything we needed, we all had a wonderful time and made memories that we will treasure.

A lovely, quiet, comfortable cottage with a glorious outlook from the large picture window, suitable for a multi-generational family holiday.

Located within walking distance of Bowness for the fit and able and with easy access to the fells. The hot tub is a real bonus. It kept the youngsters happy. This is our second visit to The Oaks and we can really recommend it.

We had a lovely stay at Beech Woodland.

It was a family celebration with ages ranging from 1 to 62 and it suited us all. There was plenty of room and a good layout. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We would stay again.

Overall we have a lovely stay.

Couldn’t fault the cottage in anyway, it was clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend. Can’t wait to rebook

Great accommodation, this was my 2nd time to this cottage.

Decor is modern but keeping with the surroundings. cleanliness is brilliant! Hottub is a massive plus and inclides extra towels. Nice touch with fairy liquid, dishwasher tabs etc thank you again. Only downside is Wifi isn't great and a telly in each room would be better. Would definitely return

We have just spent the weekend in Beech cottage as a group of 10 friends and it was the perfect accommodation.

The cottage is much bigger than it looks in the photos and the views are even better in person! It is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Car is a must for the location but only a few minutes drive into Windermere. No complaints at all. Thankyou!

We enjoyed our stay.

The cottage had everything we needed and more and staff were very generous and helpful. We really appreciated the early and late check in times we got when we arrived. Would definitely come back again.

Fantastic cottage.

Lots of attention to detail paid in the decoration and furnishing. Everything feels very comfortable, and looks lovely. Looked even better than the pictures. Really enjoyed the hot tub, a good size, and the views are brilliant. Will look to come back! The only complaint we had was with the windows. They're very drafty, so the living room is always quite chilly, even with the heating on.

Beech cottage has it all literally.

Everything you could wish for will be in this cottage. Excellent stay.

Lovely lodge in need of some TLC , inside carpets were dirty in bedrooms and under cushions of sofa were very dirty with bits of crisps n debris from previous guests .

The sofa should be replaced as cushions were sinking and very worn . Beds were comfortable and showers bathrooms were clean . Outside area was clean and tidy . Not sure I’d pay same again as stayed in much better lodges for same money.

Beech cottage was finished to a very high quality.

It was a beautiful property and all the family, 6 adults and 2 grandchildren, were exceptionally pleased with the accommodation. The play area outside the cottage was smaller than expected but the children made friends with others in nearby cottages and all had great fun. The only downside was the over the bath shower in the downstairs bedroom which meant that my husband found showering extremely difficult but in fairness to the owners the bedroom was not advertised as an accessible room. Otherwise this was a wonderful break and an opportunity to make memories with our whole family.

The cottage was perfect for our stay with 6 adults and 2 children.

It was very clean, had comfortable beds, en suite facilities were ideal, kitchen equipment was very good. Location was good with only a short drive into Bowness. We would definitely return to this cottage in the future.

Beautiful cottage, great location and views

This is our 3rd visit to Oakes cottages and we have again had a lovely holiday.

The cottages are really clean, comfortable lots of space and set in beautiful woodland surroundings. Bowness is a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes drive away. The team are friendly and helpful, any enquiries or a general chat the staff team are happy to offer help and advice. The hot tub is perfect after a busy day visiting places in lakes, and the log burner kept us really warm in the evenings. I would definitely recommend staying here and hopefully we will be able to visit again soon.

This is a lovely facility and well kitted out.

The welcome pack was a nice touch too. The only issue was the oven. It might need servicing as it didn’t function well and didn’t reach the temperature it was set to. Often we were cooking much longer than ordinarily needed. It didn’t detract from our stay too much but was v frustrating. We would stay again. Thankyou

Spent the days walking then relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. Was great to spend a week away with friends.

Radiators need balancing and bleeding some hot some cold also wi-fi keeps dropping off

We could not fault this and a short walk to the lake was a bonus ,would stay here again no problem.

We Had a fantastic stay.

The house was in a lovely location with walks direct from the door. Other activities were available nearby. We ordered several of the food boxes which were waiting for us on our arrival which were very good and soon disappeared!! We would love to return and highly recommend this cottage.

All of us had an amazing time it was a home it didn’t feel like someone else’s cottage the comfort was amazing even the staff member who kept refilling the hot tub we got in before he removed the hose and he checked on us making sure the hot tub was okay and then even when the snow landed on the Monday he even wished us a safe journey the cottage has everything you could want, and from the information we were supplied they do cater for any needs that you put out there overall 5* place and only a 5 minute drive to Windermere great views from the windows!

The cottage was spotless and the staff were extremely friendly and not worried about us playing a bit of music.

The views were outstanding and in such a good location. Will definitly be coming back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Beech cottage to celebrate my wife’s 60th Birthday, our concerns about being large enough to accommodate a family of 10 were unfounded as there was more than enough space both inside and out to give everyone their own space whenever needed.

The location was fantastic, just far enough out of town for peace and quiet but great exercise for the walk up and down into Bowness enjoying the beautiful countryside on the way. The beds were all so comfy and the bathrooms were all of a very good standard with brilliant showers . We had a wide variety of wildlife at the cottage including Red Deer, which the children loved to see. All in all a fabulous holiday and will definitely return in future .

Cottage was stunning with every little detail completed. Location was peaceful and views were lovely. Having the hot tub was a bonus.

Property was clean and modern everything as expected.

Only thing I would have liked to see is a play area for children.

Would recommend the Mason's Arms, Strawberry Bank for a relaxing evening meal.

The cottage (Beech) was excellent, with a beautiful view.

I don't think the other cottages on the site had such a good view, however. The cottage was well equipped and they provided plenty of wood for the burner. There were 7 of us for the Easter break and we had plenty of room. The site felt pleasant and relaxing.

This accommodation was perfect in every way for our family gathering to celebrate a 21st birthday.

Would definitely recommend it to others.

We had a lovely stay for my husbands 40th birthday with friends.

Everything we needed was provided even down to plastic glssses to use in the hot tub. We had a lovely weekend.

We were extremely happy with the property in general however there were problems with the boiler which meant we had no hot water on the Saturday which meant 8 people either had to have a cold shower or none at all.

We did report it and the owner came round on the Saturday afternoon and sorted the pressure but as soon as we turned the shower on in the evening it went off again. Unfortunately by the time she could get round again it was too late as we had to be out for a restaurant reservation. This was really disappointing and inconvenient especially due to the amount of money we paid. We are looking for some kind of reimbursement for the inconvenience?

An excellent location, beautiful views and lovely holiday home.

It would have been great if a few more kitchen items were there (foil, cling film, perhaps a little welcome pack of bread, milk, wine) as lots of rentals now offer this. It can be hard to guess what will and wont be provided. Now the weather is getting a bit chilly and because we had small children in our party, it woul have been preferable to be able to control the heating ourselves instead of call the owners. We had a fab time in the lakes and will definitely be back!

Fabulous place!

Location great and facilities even better. Everything we needed was there and more. Found a great local taxi service to get in and out of Bowness easily. Overall a great stay and we’ll be back!

The cottage was amazing,equiped with everything that was needed for our holiday it was a shame to go out ,we could have easily stayed in it was so cosy.

Stunning views even had a visit from a deer and numerous squirrels. We loved it !!!

Great accommodation but a little pricey.

Fantastic week in the Lakes with fabulous views and location.

There was no handwash in any bathroom or kitchen, have not known this in a holiday let before.

Surely this is basic hygiene we were all disappointed this basic thing had not been provided. A lot of the mugs were chipped. No tongs.

I could not a find a single fault.

Everything was perfect. Will definitely be returning.
