“The property suffers from serious damp especially on the ground floor bedrooms which affects clothing which smell must after afew days and not helped by the heating thermostat being on the first floor so the heating shuts down when the round floor is till below the target set.”
The towel rails in the bathrooms are on the central heating system so the towels don't really dry - the rail in the right hand back bedroom also needs attention as it has a lot of air in it. The sinks in the two right hand bedrooms and the kitchen drain very slowly. The oven pan and the BBQ grill were very dirty. Water pressure in the showers is very poor even when only one shower is being used.. The settees in the lounge have seen better days. The fire extinguisher bracket in the kitchen is loose and the CO2 extinguisher is quite well hidden in the Utilty Room. It should also be noted that there is only one means of escape - the front door.
We welcome constructive comments and are open to suggestions for improvement. However, we do expect accuracy, particularly when strong or compliance-related claims are made which evidently have not been checked. Certificates for fire safety, gas safety, insurance, and our fire risk assessment are clearly displayed in the house and are also submitted annually to Sykes. Perhaps you missed these, but they could have been verified should you have had genuine concern.
Regarding your 1st evening’s concerns: you reported the refuse bin was not empty and that the BBQ had ash in it, although you wouldn’t be using it. We responded promptly the next day to remove rubbish and clean the BBQ. The bin collection schedule, which was due during your stay was noted in the House Manual. You mentioned low shower pressure. While this had not been raised previously, we offered to call out the plumber, but you declined. This hasn’t been raised since. You did not mention radiator issues, but this was flagged by the next guests and was resolved that same day.
Your comment about damp appears to relate to the temperature downstairs as the house does not suffer from any damp issues. The property uses a HIVE system, pre-set to 20°C, with easy-to-follow adjustment/boosting instructions in the House Manual. Had we been made aware you had difficulties making adjustments, we would have been happy to assist. We do appreciate your feedback regarding the thermostat's location and have given this consideration.
We use quality furnishings; sofas by David Payne and a Habitat chaise but we understand preferences vary and are sorry these did not meet yours. We are pleased most guests rate their stay highly; both previous and post guests to your stay for example, left a 5-star review so we are sorry your experience didn’t meet the same expectations, but we appreciate you are entitled to your opinion and wish you all the best for your future holidays.
