    “What a fantastic house this is, will definitely use again.”

    The communication between myself and the owner was great, they also allowed us to enter early as the house was ready, there is lots of parking, I would say the only downside was the the main road with no path onto it. So you have to watch little ones when going out. We made a point for telling them the stone bench opposite the house was special its a sun trap ! they sat there with an adult until we were all ready ( there was 8 of us plus a dog!) But saying that it is a fantastic location in ...

We completely agree that, as with any property, young children should always be supervised by an adult when outdoors. We are glad you were able to use the super bus stop just outside the house; it is often a bonus for larger families, as it’s well‑priced, reliable, and offers routes all across The Lakes and the bonus is you can all travel together. Sandown, a delightful, four-bedroom, detached home rests on the outskirts of Bowness-on-Windermere, a thriving lakeside community in the stunning Lake District National Park, and just a short walk from the lake's shoreline and the town centre.

This wonderful, Windermere cottage benefits from reverse-level living to maximise the breath-taking views, whilst providing families and friends with a great home base from which to explore this stunning region of England.

Four ground-floor bedrooms are on offer at Sandown, including three doubles and a single, all benefitting from the luxury of en-suite shower rooms.

The roomy first floor features a spacious sitting area with plush sofas to unwind upon after a day of adventure, and a dedicated dining area, perfect for gathering around for mealtimes; a well-equipped kitchen is also on offer, complete with all the essentials to ease your self-catered stay.

A small yet delightful patio area completes Sandown, where you can dine alfresco with the barbecue alight, whilst ample parking is also available to the exterior.

This charming Windermere cottage is perfectly located for a handy base with easy access to the amenities in both Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere village itself, including a hub of restaurants and shops.

Bowness-on-Windermere boasts a lovely lakefront where you can take a cruise up towards Ambleside, which is a popular tourist area, or down towards Lakeside to discover the Aquarium of the Lake or board the Haverthwaite & Lakeside Steam line.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away.
