“The property suffers from serious damp especially on the ground floor bedrooms which affects clothing which smell must after afew days and not helped by the heating thermostat being on the first floor so the heating shuts down when the round floor is till below the target set.”
The towel rails in the bathrooms are on the central heating system so the towels don't really dry - the rail in the right hand back bedroom also needs attention as it has a lot of air in it. The sinks in the two right hand bedrooms and the kitchen drain very slowly. The oven pan and the BBQ grill were very dirty. Water pressure in the showers is very poor even when only one shower is being used.. The settees in the lounge have seen better days. The fire extinguisher bracket in the kitchen is loose and the CO2 extinguisher is quite well hidden in the Utilty Room. It should also be noted that there is only one means of escape - the front door.
We welcome constructive feedback. However, when comments relate to regulatory compliance, we expect the relevant regulations to be checked for accuracy. This was frustratingly not the case, as if you had checked you would be aware the property is fully compliant with all letting regulations. All required certificates are displayed in the house and submitted annually to Sykes. A review of these or contact with Sykes would have clarified this had there been a genuine concern.
Regarding the issues raised on your first evening: You reported the refuse bin was not fully emptied and that the BBQ contained ash, although you stated you would not be using it. We attended the following day to address both points. Bin collection dates were stated in the House Manual & the bin would have been emptied during your stay. You mentioned low shower pressure; although this had not been raised previously, we offered to arrange a plumber, which you declined, and no further concerns have been reported. You did not mention any radiator issues but these were noted by the next guests and resolved the same day.
For accuracy, we do not keep any extinguishers in the kitchen, and the property does not suffer from any damp. Your comment appears to relate to temperature preferences. The house uses a HIVE,system which is pre-set to 20°C, with clear instructions for adjustment in the House Manual. Had we been informed you needed assistance, we would have been happy to help.
We take pride in furnishing the property to a good standard, including sofas by David Payne and a Habitat chaise, but we appreciate that individual preferences vary and are sorry these did not meet yours.
