    “I’m not usually one to write reviews, I just click the stars and off we go but this time is different… Our entire stay was marvellous!”

    Upon driving through the gates it felt elegant. Trimmed hedges, mowed grass up the drive to a manicured courtyard outside the cottage door. The rooms were fantastic, fully equipped kitchen and comfy living area, the comfiest of beds/pillows and huge bathrooms with premium fixtures and fittings. Everything about the cottages are of a premium feel and everything was spotlessly clean. If I really had to be picky, the oven was over complicated, might just be I’m not familiar with that type ...

Everything about the cottages are of a premium feel and everything was spotlessly clean. If I really had to be picky, the oven was over complicated, might just be I’m not familiar with that type. Also you park your car in an (albeit lovely) car park round the other side of the cottages so is a short 1 minute walk or so back round there, ordinarily no problem and the only reason I say is we stayed for 5 nights so had a good amount of stuff with a baby and a food shop but that’s our issue - there’s also some work going on nearby which looked like renovations of an old cottage but this didn’t cause us any intrusion whatsoever, couldn’t even hear anything, so don’t let that put you off. Would 100% return.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town.
