The stylish living room opens through French doors to the furnished patio for al-fresco dining. The contemporary kitchen is open plan to the scenic dining room, so the cook will never leave the party. Each bedroom is a picture-perfect retreat with luxurious bathroom facilities. The master double boasts a viewing balcony, and all ages will love the twin room - with separate bathroom and access to rear patio area. == Accommodation in detail A traditional slate porch leads to the entrance hall, where solid oak flooring spreads throughout the ground floor complimented by sumptuous rugs and polished slate. The lounge is contemporary with leather furnishings, a view to die for and French doors to the furnished patio and sun terrace. Open plan to the kitchen, the dining room also enjoys the wonderful view and provides plenty of space for sociable dining in. Also on this level there is a Cloakroom, downstairs WC and access to the garden. Upstairs leads to the three recently decorated spacious bedrooms; the Kingsize master bedroom featuring; viewing balcony over Grasmere fells, and en-suite shower room, the second Kingsize bedroom also features an en-suite shower room and the Twin bedroom with separate family bathroom and garden access. Location This large cottage in Grasmere is truly enviable for its scenic location. With the views beginning at home, you'll be tempted to take on such famous Lake District walks as Silver How, Lang How and Helm Crag. Rising behind the property is the impressive 'Fairfield Horseshoe' - keen walkers will be spoilt for choice. But a holiday property in Grasmere isn't just a dream for walkers. This historic Lake District village is famed for its connections with the poet William Wordsworth, who lived in the village at Dove Cottage - now owned by the National Trust and open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum. Artists will enjoy browsing several watercolour galleries in Grasmere, particularly the Heaton Cooper Studio which displays the Cooper family's famous work as well as that of inspired local artists. The village centre has all the facilities you'll need during your self-catering holiday in the heart of the Lakes. From local shops and supermarket to quaint tea rooms and acclaimed restaurants - the Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room is a treat for a special occasion. For touring by car or exploring the Lakes, the A591 leads you effortlessly south past Rydal Water to Ambleside on the northern shore of Lake Windermere, or north to Keswick and Derwent Water. Also easily found to your south are the breathtaking Langdale Valley and the Lake District's third largest lake, Coniston.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
