“Loved Buckbarrow, the location and the scenery, especially it snowed and covered all the mountains around us making our holiday so magical and special.”

We walked to Wast Water seeing different views of the mountains covered in snow ( breathtaking). Saw wild swimmers and a couple getting ready to dive in the lake. They were doing "The Grat Scuba Drive" from Cornwall to Scotland, Wast Water being the best for scenery so far. They gave us a car sticker to advertise it and website to follow them on to find out how cold the water was. Amazing holiday experience for us. The only 3 negatives we had was:- 1 the shelf of the fridge door was broken, ...

The only 3 negatives we had was:- 1 the shelf of the fridge door was broken, so had to store drinks in the salad tray not leaving enough shelf space to store other chilled produce very easily. 2 we couldn't get the hob extractor fan to work 3 would have the lights tobe a bit brighter for reading None of these had a big impact on our holiday, it was truly a a magical place to be. We never used our car all week. Thankyou for allowing us to use your flat

About the location

ESKDALE VALLEY

Irton 2.6 miles; Gosforth 4.3 miles; Seascale 5.4 miles

The small village of Eskdale Green sits amongst beautiful Lakeland countryside and consists of a scattering of cottages, some farm dwellings and a number of outstanding traditional English pubs serving good food. An area relatively unknown to many Lakeland visitors, this great location boasts a skyline dominated by the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby stunning valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking and ever-changing scenery to be enjoyed throughout the year. The valley is notable as being one of few major valleys in the Lake District not to have its own lake, although several tarns are perched above the valley sides. Local attractions include Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys imaginable. With both beautiful Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church, amongst the many well known landmarks in this awe inspiring and beautiful area also within easy reach, this stunning location will have visitors returning time and time again.
