“A beautiful large house, with great views, great amenities, very well positioned in Grasmere, ideal for family gatherings.”
We stayed in September '24, the gardens are well maintained, secluded and dog safe. Off-road parking was easy and convenient. The house is beautiful and retains its Victorian features. We found the beds were very comfy. The kitchen is well appointed with a range style oven, a microwave and a slow cooker, plus a second modern oven in rear utility area, a full sized fridge/freezer, washing machine and separate dryer. Ample space for coats and boots. A 2 minute walk down to the village takes you to a well stocked, friendly Co-op store and a range of local independent shops and cafes, while 2 minutes up the road is the The Swan pub. Good local bus route links to surrounding towns inc. Ambleside, Windemere, Keswick.
The cellar is beautiful, containing a unique spring water well feature - keys appropriately hung above the door out of reach from children.
Lots of useful local information provided in sideboard drawers (local events, attractions, bus timetables), along with Ordnance survey maps, and guides for walks, cycling, motoring, whatever you need.
Thank you for a lovely holiday, will come again.
