Second time here.

It’s a lovely place and well located. Was not as clear as last year and we were missing some towels

This was our second visit to Glen View.

Last time we visited was at Christmas. Being there during summer was equally lovely and exactly what we needed. It’s a great base for walking and ideally located for using public transport and leaving the car on the drive.

Pro: Beautiful cottage, well-equipped cottage, comfortable beds Con: Living room can get uncomfortably hot at the height of summer (main window has no shutters)

This was our fourth visit to Glen View, we love the location, stunning views and homely feel of the house.

Glen View Cottage is a beautiful cottage in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk into Grasmere Village.

It has a fantastic layout with the lounge and kitchen on the top floor and a big window with amazing views. The kitchen is very well stocked with a good amount of crockery and cutlery. Our only negative would be the sofa, which is in fact a lot bigger than it seems in the picture (a positive) but isn’t particularly comfortable to sit on for long periods of time, also, I dropped something on the floor which rolled under the sofa and I found a lot of dust and crumbs. Other than that, no complaints, we would definitely stay there again.

A bright and light property that is warm and comfortable and easy to run.

We stayed at Glen View for Christmas.

I spent a lot of time before booking in researching properties and decided on this one, I was not disappointed. From the moment we arrived and saw a Christmas tree in the window and wreath at the door we fell in love with Glen View. The accommodation is very comfortable and layed out well. The open plan living accommodation with stunning views was perfect for being together, particularly on Christmas Day when we were cooking, relaxing or playing games. Aside from the lovely home from home feel, the accommodation is perfectly positioned for exploring. We’ve been visiting the Lakes each year for the last 23 years and this has been our favourite base. From Glen View you could leave the car in the parking space for the e tire time if you so wished, there are shops a short walk away and a very good bus service. During our week we walked from Grasmere to Ambleside, up Silver Howe, to Elterwater and back, up Helm Crag on Christmas Day and to Easedale Tarn. In short, we had the BEST Christmas and Glen View contributed to one amazing holiday making memories to last a lifetime. We’ve never stayed in the same place twice, but we definitely will return to this super cottage.

Great house - our 3rd visit.

But as others have said, the sofas can't seat 6 people and the floor is very noisy. However, great location, beautiful house and stunning views.

The kitchen is quite well equipped. Pretty clean - a few corners missed but nothing disastrous. Beds comfy - mattresses will need replacing soon but ok now. Booked for next year!

Lovely property, perfect location and the property is well equipped.

Sofa really isn’t comfortable to relax on as the cushions slip forward and not ideal if you did want to watch tv as you are sat facing the wrong way. Also very noisy floor boards to the stairs and middle room making it noisy in the ground floor bedroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage.

The views from the balcony, lounge and garden were outstanding. It was well equipped, clean and the beds were very comfortable. However we’re not sure that the middle “king size” bed was a king size. The 2 adults sharing it thought it was a double. There are 3 floors so a lot of stairs to climb. Especially for unloading and packing up. We would consider booking again because it is a fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. No complaints from us

Peaceful Cottage with Stunning Views We recently stayed at Glen View in Grasmere and overall had a lovely time.

The location is fantastic - just a short and scenic walk into the village for shops and pubs, yet peaceful and surrounded by nature. One of the highlights was the amazing picture window in the living space, offering panoramic views of the fells and a front-row seat to watch ewes and their newborn lambs - a truly special experience. The kitchen was well-equipped, beds were comfortable, and the bedroom terrace was a real suntrap. We also appreciated the laundry room and downstairs bathroom, and the thoughtful selection of books on local walks. There are a few areas that could use some attention. The large picture window, while beautiful, has no blinds - this made the setting sun uncomfortably bright and left the living area lacking privacy in the evenings. A roman blind would be a great addition. The sofa was unfortunately unusable, as the cushions constantly slid off - we ended up using just the two high-backed dining chairs. The layout is a little awkward, with lots of stairs, and the middle bedroom floor creaked loudly, to the point where we though the ceiling would come down on us. That said, we would consider visiting again — but only if we didn't need to use the middle bedroom.

Our third time at Glenview and another excellent week blessed with good weather.

Walking from the door we went up past Eastdale Tarn and on to Langdale. On another day up towards Helvellyn and down to Rydal, also a low level day to Ambleside for food and shopping and back on the bus for £3 each. Keswick is half an hour by bus (the 555 from Grasmere centre, again £3 each way). Glenview @ Grasmere is a fantastic base, a lovely house and we will be back.

The front door on ground floor would benefit from a door curtain to stop draughts.

We had a very enjoyable stay in this most comfortable and stylish cottage.

It is well-equipped and immaculately clean and the view is spectacular - we had a mixed week weather-wise and the changing light on the fells was wonderful. We can't think of any negatives.

Lovely cottage, very comfy beds, great location for the village of Grasmere & plenty of beautiful walks.

Kept us fit up & down the 25 steps.

The cottage stay was a lovely experience and everything so clean and wellmaintained, I have never stayed anywhere that was so well equiped, it had everything we needed.

The beds were comfortable and curtains and accessories were lovely. One thing to point out to other visitors is that there are a lot of stairs as the cottage is on three different levels but if you can walk fells, then you won't have a problem.

Fantastic property, excellent location.

Generally very clean and comfortable. Small housekeeping issues- dirty grill pan , no dish scourer. If you are visiting do take basic housekeeping kit with you. Cleaning liquids are provided such as washing up liquid and disinfectant but no cloths,scourers or dish washer tablets. Don’t expect a welcome hamper- it’s the only company we have used where there is no basic starters such as milk or tea/ coffee provided. Would we return- yes. This is a fabulous comfortable house with spectacular views.

Overall we were very pleased with this lovely cottage.

Only a couple of minor issues such as the downstairs bedroom had a strong musty smell. Also found a long hair on the linen on the day of arrival in this bedroom. And the TV in the middle bedroom was small so I found it challenging to see the screen clearly while lying on the bed. Other than this it was lovely experience. Beautiful view of helm's crag out of the lounge window. And sitting outside was nice during the days of sunshine. Only a short walk into the village. Tidy and clean overall with some beautiful paintings decorated in the property. Would definitely recommend to others. Lovely.

Lovely property overall.

Just a few minor points-duvet in the bedroom with en-suite probably needs to be bigger (it just reaches the edge of the mattress on both sides so could be chilly depending on time of stay). We struggled to identify which bin belonged to the property. Could this be labelled with the property name? Overall a fabulous property in a great spot. Just needed a bit less rain the week we were there….

Superb place to stay in the centre of the Lake District

Glen View is a fabulous cottage in the very heart of the Lakes.

It's got great access to both the glorious countryside and Grasmere. The cottage is well equipped, warm, clean and spacious. I don't usually come back to the same place twice, as I like to try out new places every time I go on holiday, but I may make an exception in this case!

A really stunning property, light and airy living space with a beautiful picture window overlooking helm crag and towards Easdale.

Easy walk to Grasmere and to a number of beautiful Fell walks. Beds were perfectly comfortable and beautifully decorated.

My sister in law and myself had a great holiday at Glen View.

It is in a great location (gate opposite house offers a good path across fields into Grasmere village - less than 10 min walk; you do not need to walk up the road). It was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed with superb view of the nearby mountains. The living area feels light and airy and the beds are comfortable and showers are good (no mean dribbles!). We want to come back, which says it all really! Thanks for a great stay.

Beautiful quirky cottage with fabulous view.

The raised patio was a perfect sun trap. Really handy for Grasmere and some beautiful walks. The cottage was lovely and clean and had every you need for a great holiday. Would love to come back again. Only tiny, tiny niggle was the base sheet was too small for such a wide bed in the main bedroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glen View and would definitely visit again.

Excellent property in a wonderful setting.

It would be nice if there were curtains or blinds of some description on the big picture window in the lounge.

Cottage was ideally located and makes the most of the superb views.

Very comfortable & well equipped , kitchen well equipped The only disappointment was that we had phoned to request one of the beds be separated to twins as we were a party of 5 women & despite when phoning it was confirmed that this would be done it had not been . It did not spoil our weekend but was a disappointment on arrival

We loved the house!

The living space and kitchen are fabulous, so comfortable and such wonderful views. The master bedroom is also great. The location of the house is perfect and it's very nicely appointed, we made a roast lunch on Easter Sunday and had everything we could possibly need to make and serve it for 6 of us. We were very sorry to leave! Just a few things to note: the balcony door from the master bedroom sticks and is difficult to lock and unlock, which means we didn't use the balcony at all - a shame, as it's very pretty. The signposting of the house from the road is very poor - no visible house name from the road, we spent quite some time looking for it on arrival and had to ask some local kids/guess it from the photo on your site in the end. The Sainsburys delivery man also spent some time looking for us the next day. The gas fire in the living room needs better instructions - it took us a while to work out we needed to check the gas pipe before trying to turn it on and it's not easy to get to ignite. Annoying, as it does make a difference to have it on when its particularly cold and damp. One of the spots over the mirror in the master bathroom is on the way out - flickering and dimming while we were there and something the cleaners might not notice so a small thing but thought worth mentioning.

We had a lovely week at Glen View.

Liked the new set up in the living area, sitting at the dining table admiring the view. The cottage is a great base for getting around, we parked up and either walked or caught a bus (which was very reasonably priced). Look forward to coming back again. Thank you.

We had a fabulous Christmas in Glen View Cottage.

Fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. In particular, the kitchen where I was able to make Christmas Dinner. Plenty of serving dishes, glasses, mixing bowls etc. The fire added extra heat to the living area, however most of the time the heating was warm enough. The Christmas tree in the living room was a lovely added touch. A couple of points to mention, the drains in the ensuite of the master bedroom smelt. The bed in the double bedroom was wet on the surface, it looks like there'd been a leak from the ceiling. That aside, we'll definitely return to Glen View. As a family, we made some great memories. Thank you to the owners for sharing your beautiful property.

Second time we have stayed here and we love it.

Would be great to get the gas fire going only for decor - it’s perfectly warm without. The beds are really comfortable as is the new sofa. The streetlight outside the master bedroom is a bit bright. Everything works perfectly and the kitchen is v well equipped. 5 min walk into Grasmere and some great walks right from the front door.

One minor issue. The small window in the lounge is broken and wont shut. Everything else was great.

Generally nicely and attractively fitted out with plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. (No pan that fitted the steamer.) We all really enjoyed our stay. Downstairs loo not mentioned in details - so better than advertised! But... ground floor bed not split as requested, Several lights didn't work properly, not sure why oven gloves not provided as tea-towels were. Cooking necessities like oil, salt, pepper lacking. The settee, though looking nice, is very uncomfortable. However, generally a very enjoyable place to stay.

What a fabulous place to stay- we absolutely loved Glen View Cottage.

It is light, bright, modern and spotless. It has everything you need for a comfy, easy holiday. The view from the enormous window in the upstairs sitting room overlooks a meadow full of flowers and with views up to Easedale tarn it is just beautiful. The location couldn't be better, with walks on the flat and into Grasmere and of course the fells beckoning in every direction. There was a place to sit in the sun, parking for our two cars, a lovely comfy sofa - we could not fault this cottage I always feel grateful to share in some one else's bit of heaven - thank you to the owners - we had such a super holiday.

The situation was excellent.

A property which is on three floors with beautiful views from the windows. The bedrooms were well furnished but the ground floor is rather dark and dingy, however lovely large comfortable beds throughout. The kitchen is very well equipped and all crockery and cutlery were very clean as was the entire cottage. The biggest drawback is the two very uncomfortable and unattractive setees in the lounge. On the whole, a very pleasant clean, comfortable cottage.

A clean and comfortable cottage with great access to the hills and Grasmere from the doorstep.

All the facilities including showers, kitchen, washing machine and tumbler worked well and the beds were very comfortable. All in all a very nice week in Grasmere!

Super cottage in an amazing location - great base for a long weekend in the Lakes.

Well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and views to die for. Will definitely be back.

Amazing cottage, amazing views, if any slight criticism the sofas were uncomfortable and stairs are very creaky and trying to get down the stairs past toddlers room at night impossible as woke them up!

The cottage was in a perfect location, cosy and really well equipped.

What made it for us was the superb views from the upstairs open plan lounge. A lovely holiday.

Had a fabulous stay here, great location, very clean & modern, everything we wanted.

Couple of gripes though. The property information file said the instructions for the appliances etc were in a black file in the utility. Still haven’t found it! Looked everywhere in that property so had to resort to going online to search for each appliance make to figure out how to work oven & hob, microwave. Thank goodness for the Internet! Also the gas fire in living room is an absolute pain to light. The pilot light just would not ignite. Each time it took 20+ attempts. Some days we just gave up, others we eventually managed. Once it was lit, it was very effective against the rain we had most days. Also the blind in the master bathroom is not sufficient to block out the street light which is right outside that window. The whole room is illuminated each night. An eye mask is a must. These things didn’t spoil our stay there, we are definitely re booking this property.
