“We had a very enjoyable stay in this most comfortable and stylish cottage.”

It is well-equipped and immaculately clean and the view is spectacular - we had a mixed week weather-wise and the changing light on the fells was wonderful. We can't think of any negatives.

“The cottage stay was a lovely experience and everything so clean and wellmaintained, I have never stayed anywhere that was so well equiped, it had everything we needed.”

The beds were comfortable and curtains and accessories were lovely. One thing to point out to other visitors is that there are a lot of stairs as the cottage is on three different levels but if you can walk fells, then you won't have a problem.

“Fantastic property, excellent location.”

Generally very clean and comfortable. Small housekeeping issues- dirty grill pan , no dish scourer. If you are visiting do take basic housekeeping kit with you. Cleaning liquids are provided such as washing up liquid and disinfectant but no cloths,scourers or dish washer tablets. Don’t expect a welcome hamper- it’s the only company we have used where there is no basic starters such as milk or tea/ coffee provided. Would we return- yes. This is a fabulous comfortable house with spectacular views.

“Overall we were very pleased with this lovely cottage.”

Only a couple of minor issues such as the downstairs bedroom had a strong musty smell. Also found a long hair on the linen on the day of arrival in this bedroom. And the TV in the middle bedroom was small so I found it challenging to see the screen clearly while lying on the bed. Other than this it was lovely experience. Beautiful view of helm's crag out of the lounge window. And sitting outside was nice during the days of sunshine. Only a short walk into the village. Tidy and clean overall with some beautiful paintings decorated in the property. Would definitely recommend to others. Lovely.

“Lovely property overall.”

Just a few minor points-duvet in the bedroom with en-suite probably needs to be bigger (it just reaches the edge of the mattress on both sides so could be chilly depending on time of stay). We struggled to identify which bin belonged to the property. Could this be labelled with the property name? Overall a fabulous property in a great spot. Just needed a bit less rain the week we were there….

“Glen View is a fabulous cottage in the very heart of the Lakes.”

It's got great access to both the glorious countryside and Grasmere. The cottage is well equipped, warm, clean and spacious. I don't usually come back to the same place twice, as I like to try out new places every time I go on holiday, but I may make an exception in this case!

“My sister in law and myself had a great holiday at Glen View.”

It is in a great location (gate opposite house offers a good path across fields into Grasmere village - less than 10 min walk; you do not need to walk up the road). It was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed with superb view of the nearby mountains. The living area feels light and airy and the beds are comfortable and showers are good (no mean dribbles!). We want to come back, which says it all really! Thanks for a great stay.

“Beautiful quirky cottage with fabulous view.”

The raised patio was a perfect sun trap. Really handy for Grasmere and some beautiful walks. The cottage was lovely and clean and had every you need for a great holiday. Would love to come back again. Only tiny, tiny niggle was the base sheet was too small for such a wide bed in the main bedroom.

“Cottage was ideally located and makes the most of the superb views.”

Very comfortable & well equipped , kitchen well equipped The only disappointment was that we had phoned to request one of the beds be separated to twins as we were a party of 5 women & despite when phoning it was confirmed that this would be done it had not been . It did not spoil our weekend but was a disappointment on arrival

“We loved the house!”

The living space and kitchen are fabulous, so comfortable and such wonderful views. The master bedroom is also great. The location of the house is perfect and it's very nicely appointed, we made a roast lunch on Easter Sunday and had everything we could possibly need to make and serve it for 6 of us. We were very sorry to leave! Just a few things to note: the balcony door from the master bedroom sticks and is difficult to lock and unlock, which means we didn't use the balcony at all - a shame, as it's very pretty. The signposting of the house from the road is very poor - no visible house name from the road, we spent quite some time looking for it on arrival and had to ask some local kids/guess it from the photo on your site in the end. The Sainsburys delivery man also spent some time looking for us the next day. The gas fire in the living room needs better instructions - it took us a while to work out we needed to check the gas pipe before trying to turn it on and it's not easy to get to ignite. Annoying, as it does make a difference to have it on when its particularly cold and damp. One of the spots over the mirror in the master bathroom is on the way out - flickering and dimming while we were there and something the cleaners might not notice so a small thing but thought worth mentioning.

“We had a lovely week at Glen View.”

Liked the new set up in the living area, sitting at the dining table admiring the view. The cottage is a great base for getting around, we parked up and either walked or caught a bus (which was very reasonably priced). Look forward to coming back again. Thank you.

“We had a fabulous Christmas in Glen View Cottage.”

Fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. In particular, the kitchen where I was able to make Christmas Dinner. Plenty of serving dishes, glasses, mixing bowls etc. The fire added extra heat to the living area, however most of the time the heating was warm enough. The Christmas tree in the living room was a lovely added touch. A couple of points to mention, the drains in the ensuite of the master bedroom smelt. The bed in the double bedroom was wet on the surface, it looks like there'd been a leak from the ceiling. That aside, we'll definitely return to Glen View. As a family, we made some great memories. Thank you to the owners for sharing your beautiful property.

“Second time we have stayed here and we love it.”

Would be great to get the gas fire going only for decor - it’s perfectly warm without. The beds are really comfortable as is the new sofa. The streetlight outside the master bedroom is a bit bright. Everything works perfectly and the kitchen is v well equipped. 5 min walk into Grasmere and some great walks right from the front door.

“Very nice property with great views.”

Generally nicely and attractively fitted out with plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. (No pan that fitted the steamer.) We all really enjoyed our stay. Downstairs loo not mentioned in details - so better than advertised! But... ground floor bed not split as requested, Several lights didn't work properly, not sure why oven gloves not provided as tea-towels were. Cooking necessities like oil, salt, pepper lacking. The settee, though looking nice, is very uncomfortable. However, generally a very enjoyable place to stay.

“What a fabulous place to stay- we absolutely loved Glen View Cottage.”

It is light, bright, modern and spotless. It has everything you need for a comfy, easy holiday. The view from the enormous window in the upstairs sitting room overlooks a meadow full of flowers and with views up to Easedale tarn it is just beautiful. The location couldn't be better, with walks on the flat and into Grasmere and of course the fells beckoning in every direction. There was a place to sit in the sun, parking for our two cars, a lovely comfy sofa - we could not fault this cottage I always feel grateful to share in some one else's bit of heaven - thank you to the owners - we had such a super holiday.

“The situation was excellent.”

A property which is on three floors with beautiful views from the windows. The bedrooms were well furnished but the ground floor is rather dark and dingy, however lovely large comfortable beds throughout. The kitchen is very well equipped and all crockery and cutlery were very clean as was the entire cottage. The biggest drawback is the two very uncomfortable and unattractive setees in the lounge. On the whole, a very pleasant clean, comfortable cottage.

“Had a fabulous stay here, great location, very clean & modern, everything we wanted.”

Couple of gripes though. The property information file said the instructions for the appliances etc were in a black file in the utility. Still haven’t found it! Looked everywhere in that property so had to resort to going online to search for each appliance make to figure out how to work oven & hob, microwave. Thank goodness for the Internet! Also the gas fire in living room is an absolute pain to light. The pilot light just would not ignite. Each time it took 20+ attempts. Some days we just gave up, others we eventually managed. Once it was lit, it was very effective against the rain we had most days. Also the blind in the master bathroom is not sufficient to block out the street light which is right outside that window. The whole room is illuminated each night. An eye mask is a must. These things didn’t spoil our stay there, we are definitely re booking this property.

With plenty of rustic charm and all the home comforts you need for a relaxing break at any time of year, this stone-built, three-storey cottage serves as a fantastic base for a family holiday or a break with friends in the renowned Lake District National Park.

Step into the cottage to find exposed stone and beams throughout all three floors, offering a characterful setting, reflective of its picture-perfect surroundings, while the stylish décor provides a home-from-home you won't want to leave.

Make your way up to the second-floor and settle down in the open-plan living space where earthy tones create a warm ambiance in the heart of the home.

Take advantage of the kitchen facilities and have the chef of the group rustle up a tasty meal with the induction hob and electric oven as natural light pours in from the skylights; granite worktops and a Belfast sink make this space ideal for preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the dishwasher helps with the cleaning up.

From here, admire the views from the floor to ceiling windows of the great outdoors, before setting off on an adventurous day in the countryside.

On your return, feast at the elegant glass-top dining table, before sinking into the sofa to watch some TV shows as night rolls in.

When sleep calls, choose from three bedrooms which effortlessly blend chic artwork and furnishings with traditional beams and catch your rest; the first, located on the first floor hosts a super-king bedroom with an en-suite shower room and patio doors to a sun terrace where you can savour your morning coffee with a view.

From the doorstep of the cottage, a footpath leads you into the delightful village of Grasmere, where plenty of quaint shops and eateries can be found to give the designated chef a night off, such as the Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room restaurant.

Peaceful and full of history, the village is ideal for exploring on foot and venturing off-path to discover tremendous views of the varying terrains.

Home of poet William Wordsworth, the fascinating Wordsworth Museum can be enjoyed, or perhaps take a trip to his former home, Dove Cottage.

With plenty of watercolour galleries in the village, you will be immersed in the work of locally-inspired painters, however for the foodies of the group, an unmissable visit to the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop will take you back in time for a tasty souvenir.

Following the footpath from the cottage in the opposite direction, you will come to Easedale Tarn, and you can also explore the famous Lake District walks such as Silver How, Helm Crag and the impressive Fairfield Horseshoe.

Further afield, be sure to take a trip to the nearby towns of Ambleside and Windermere for more shopping and dining options, as well as watersport activities and lakefront strolls on the magnificent Lake Windermere, or follow the A591 north to Keswick and Derwent Water, or branch off into the Langdale Valley.

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
