What guests are saying
We had a fantastic time here, the Lodge was amazing, loads of space, the large TV almost gives you a Cinema type experience, a few minor cosmetic things to sort but nothing that takes away from the experience.
Fantastic views, walks all around, lovely bakery down the road AND a pub about 30 seconds from the lodge...we were in dreamland. Thanks, we will be back.
Eildon Lodge has a very good location with lovely views, lots of space and good for exploring the lakes.
The Property is a little tired in places but that wasnt important to us. We have booked lots of cottages over the years but at Eildon Lodge we never felt truly able to relax as we didnt feel like guests, just people passing through until the next booking and some improvements could be made. Firstly, there was no welcome pack, there is a local bakery so some small provisions with a welcome note would go a long way (bread, butter, jam etc). Granted a pint of milk was left, but this was found in the fridge. A lot of the crockery wasnt dishwasher safe, which for a large group wasnt helpful (we wanted to maximise our time in the surroundings not washing up, although we did find some crockery that was dishwashersafe, so again some simple info here in a welcome note would be good). Too many instructions on check out with to higher expectations on guests on departure especially given an early check out time. Stripping beds and putting bedding and bags in bags, but no bags provided, dishwasher had to be empty, this meant that items couldn't be left in dishwasher with this going, instead all items had to be washed and dried before departure, again eating into time on the departure day, effectively meaning we couldnt have breakfast before leaving. All rubbish separated into bins, again we would expect to so this but there was insufficient number of bin bags left for our party size. There was a tub of dishwasher tablets but with a not saying we were only allowed to use one dishwasher tablet for our trip. This alongside the tone of other instructions and holding a credit bond for insurances cheapened the whole experience for us. We had paid a lot of money and a few extra touches and less authoritarian approach in instructions would have gone a long way.
To be fair this property is ser in beautiful grounds, with beautiful views .
..most of the accommodation is first class...the kitchen is well equipped..the lounge and conservatory are beautiful but, with the he exception of the upstairs bedrooms the bedrooms are cold and therev as a very damp smell to the bedding . We had to actually wash the duvet in the downstairs bedroom as we could not sleep there with the damp smell. Also the kitchen doorknob was loose and actually came off and dropped onto my foot.
