The property

The “fairest spot and earth” was how William Wordsworth described Grasmere 200 years ago and today this pretty village, surrounded by the high fell and one the side of the pretty lake with which it shares its name, the village remains one of the most delightful parts of the Lake District. Set on the edge of the village and just a few minutes walk from the famous Swan Inn, Lanterns At Grasmere, is a beautifully presented contemporary bungalow.

The owners have taken pride to create a high quality property that offers fantastic accommodation in a first class location ideal for family or friends whatever the time of year. All laid out on the ground floor, the cottage includes a bright and airy lounge, a large conservatory, a spacious kitchen, three bedrooms including two with ensuites in addition to a smart family bathroom.

The third bedroom can be presented as either a superking or twin bedded room (please specify when booking) giving the property the extra flexibility to offer great accommodation all year round. The short walk brings you into the very heart of Grasmere village with a fine array of tea rooms and shops, and a range of places to eat from Michelin Starred Forest side less than a five minute walk from the cottage, local bistros to the cosy village pubs.

Walks abound in this part of the Lake District from gentle rambles along the lakeshore or to take in the stunning views from Loughrigg Fell or head higher onto the fells to bag a “Wainwright” or two including Fairfield, Helvellyn and Helm Crag all of which the more adventurous can conquer direct from the door! ==Accommodation in detail Park on the paved driveway and two steps lead to the front door that opens to a large hallway that runs through the property and offers plenty of space for coats, boots and outdoor gear.

The spacious lounge is bright and airy and three comfortable sofas are arranged around a large coffee table, large screen TV and in front of the feature fireplace with a warm and welcoming log burning stove.

Patio doors open to the “Cocktail Patio”, the first of the two patios which is a real suntrap on a summer's afternoon.

Double doors from the lounge open to the large conservatory with family dining table and a secondary seating area with sofa and arm chairs making it the ideal to sit and relax with a good book or the weekend papers.

French doors open from here to the second patio with outdoor dining table, ideal for dinner on warmer evenings. The spacious kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need throughout your stay and features a range cooker with five ring gas hob, with double electric oven in addition to a fridge/freezer, diswasher, Tassimo coffee maker, microwave and washing machine. There are three great quality bedrooms to choose from.

To the rear of the cottage the master bedroom is presented with a welcoming king-size bed and complemented with a stylish ensuite shower room.

The second is again presented with a kingsize bed and complemented with an ensuite bathroom with bath with shower over.

The final bedroom is presented as either a super king size or twin bedded room (please specify when booking).

A smart family bathroom offers a bath, separate shower, basin and WC. A walled garden wraps around the property with planted boarders with mature shrubs, patios and paving.

To the front of the property there is parking for three cars.

The utility area separate outside utility room offers plenty of space for the secure storage of mountain bikes and outdoor equipment. Location Nestled in the very heart of the Lakes, Grasmere is a lovely place for a romantic break in peaceful surroundings.

With the views beginning at home, you'll be tempted to take on such famous Lake District walks as Silver How, Lang How and Helm Crag.

Rising very close to the property is the impressive 'Fairfield Horseshoe' - keen walkers will be spoilt for choice. However a holiday property in Grasmere isn't just a dream for walkers.

This historic Lake District village is famed for its connections with the poet William Wordsworth, who lived in the village at Dove Cottage is open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum.

Artists will enjoy browsing several watercolour galleries in Grasmere, particularly the Heaton Cooper Studio which displays the Cooper family's famous work as well as that of inspired local artists. The village centre has all the facilities you'll need during your self-catering holiday in the heart of the Lakes.

From local shops and supermarket to quaint tea rooms and acclaimed restaurants - the Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room is a treat for a special occasion and the Michelin Star awarded Forestside is just a few minutes' walk from the cottage.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

Please note this property has a zip link bed. This will be made as a twin by default. Please contact the call center should you wish it to be a super king.
