“We loved the fresh cake and prosecco with dog treats - this was a really lovely suprise.”

The property overall was fine although we hadn't realised that there was no windows in the main living area so we had to hang out in the bedroom if we wanted a view - and that was limited by the trees. The property heated up well - this was needed since it was jolly cold while we were there. However there were no logs for the log burning stove - we brought some up with us incase this was the case - but if you advertise a log burner and say fuel is included you should provide logs. We tried to get in touch before our holiday to find out if logs were provided and simply couldn't get in touch with Lakelovers - I tried on many occasions and eventually left a message for them to get back to us - still no reply. Very bad customer services - will try to avoid Lakelovers in future. If there was a real problem I have no confidence that we would have got any sort of response from them. We saw a few rats scurrying around outside the property and there was an alarming russling behind the sink so i think the owners need to address the rat situation.

As with all guests I contacted you prior to your arrival at which point you could have asked me personally about the wood Nevertheless there was a supply of heat bricks in the fully accessible utility room.I am sorry you did not enjoy the view of the brook and trees from the window but the view of Helms Crag from the garden is spectacular. With regards the alleged vermin I am shocked as I have not had any comments prior or post your visit but rest assured if true will be dealt with immediately. Published on behalf of owner. About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
