    “What a lovely place to stay, not too far from all the main towns and very close to the lakes.”

    Our hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming and the welcome pack was a nice touch and being on a working farm we got to see some of the animals, also the pictures of the property do not do it justice. Can’t wait to go back soon!!

The property

Grayrigg Foot Stable is situated in a truly rural location and is sure to appeal to anyone looking for peace and tranquility whilst visiting the Lake District.

The two bedroomed cottage has been renovated by the owners retaining an abundance of original character, including old stones and beams, a cosy wood burning stove housed within an Inglenook fireplace is complemented by contemporary style making your stay truly memorable. Situated in a truly rural location Grayrigg Foot Stable offers a chance to get away and enjoy the peace and quiet whilst still being close to the many villages and towns of the Lake District as well as the Yorkshire Dales.

Grayrigg is a small traditional Lakeland village just 5 miles north of Kendal and 8 miles south west of Sedbergh with their abundance of shops, restaurants and tea rooms.

Within a 20 minute drive are the more frequented villages of Windermere, Bowness and Grasmere. The property has been lovingly renovated by the owners, using local craftsmen, the old stones and beams from the original building have been restored and the cottage retains many of the original features of the barn once used as stables and pig sty.

Attention to detail has been paid in every room, furnished with a blend of traditional furnishings and in a contemporary style, the Inglenook fireplace housing a wood burning stove, the old stable divides now create a relaxing dining area all help to give a warm and welcoming ambience. Grayrigg Foot Stables is oil centrally heated and comprises: Open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area with polished wood floors throughout, wood burning stove, flat screen TV with DVD player and Freesat.

A stable door leads out onto a small patio area which was the original pig sty feeding area.
