“The property was tricky to find, but the host sent an easy to follow list of instructions.”

Perfect size for the four of us to enjoy a weekend getaway close proximity to Cartmel. Road was a bit dangerous to walk into Cartmel, but an Uber was easy to arrange. Kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, plates, pans, but would benefit from some more glasses. We never managed to get the TV working but that wasn’t a problem for our stay. Overall quaint property in a beautiful quiet setting with great village life nearby.

“Lovely peaceful cottage , set near to a lovely pond and surrounded by well kept gardens .”

The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage was warm and comfortable and we enjoyed using the range of games provided . It is also very convenient to walk into Cartmel, and within easy reach of Grange , Arnside , Newby bridge and other of places of interest in south Lakeland. It is worth noting , the cottage next door’s conservatory style window , does overlook the outside seating area , which could potentially be a drawback - but as it wasn't occupied wasn’t a problem . We really enjoyed our stay and would come again .

“A lovely, peaceful setting and a very comfortable cottage.”

It was very disappointing to discover that it was impossible to fathom the instructions for using the television. How difficult can it be to provide a simple television service? Also, it was not possible to operate the oven of the cooker. No instructions were provided and normal operating procedures did not coax it into life. A great shame that these aspects of the property tarnished an otherwise pleasant visit.

Hello, I’m so sorry you didn’t enjoy your time at the cottage. The king sized bed does have space along side even though it’s a bit narrow and no one has ever mentioned it as a problem before. Also I’ve never had feedback about the single beds being uncomfortable so I’m sorry if you felt they were. “The cottage was beautiful and the whole weekend was so relaxing and peaceful that we stayed an extra night.”

The cottage had everything that we needed. It was warm and very comfortable. The surrounding grounds are so well looked after too. I fed the robin, but failed to see the kingfisher; a heron paid us a visit, though. The owner was brilliant; I understand why she has such positive reviews. Things to think about if staying (not negatives, just advice): there's a ramp between the bedrooms and kitchen that may be an issue if you have mobility issues; the conservatory in the photo is part of a neighbouring cottage. Would I recommend the cottage and go back? Definitely. Thank you.

“We loved the property.”

It was comfy and cosy. The setting by a duck pond is lovely, and must be even nicer in the longer, warmer days when you could sit outside to admire the view. The only issue was with the TV. However it was dealt with by Sean (who drove out on a cold, dark night to our aid). immediately it was reported. Cartmel is full of pubs and eateries of all types, and there is a very useful shop that provides most things including wood and sticks for the wood burning stove.

“Lovely cottage would not hesitate to recommend .”

. We stayed over Christmas and the cottage was cosy / warm and peaceful . . Pefect for couples or family as had 2 bedrooms . . Liked the fact you could drive up and unpack car before parking in own space . . Also liked the seating arrangement in lounge area . . Actually there was nothing we didn't like . . Christmas day we saw the kingfisher outside the window perched over the pond and after 4 days nearly got the Robin eating out of our hands . . So relaxed we could of stayed longer . . Cartmel is a lovely village minutes away to have a drink / meal and Grange had a lovely park and walk along sea front . .

“The cottage was freezing on arrival, it took 2 days to warm up.”

There is a slope from the kitchen down to the bathroom and bedrooms, a grab rail is necessary for older people. It’s a long way to the allocated parking space and in the dark it feels uncomfortable. A much better torch is needed or should be suggested to bring with you. There isn’t an outside light, a dusk till dawn light is absolutely necessary. Everything is very low, bed, toilet and sofas. Important information if you are taking an elderly person with you. On a positive note, everything was clean, the towels are lovely and soft. Plenty of hot water. The cottage is tastefully decorated and very much in keeping. A great stay.

Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for your feedback. I’m so sorry if the cottage was cold on arrival. We certainly always aim to have the heating turned up for guests so it’s cosy on arrival so I’m not sure what went wrong there. My instructions were to have the heating turned up for you and everything warm. I have the slope painted with an anti slip paint and it’s only been done again a few weeks ago so it should have been safe to walk down. Thank you for your suggestion. The outside light is out of my hands. There is one there but the bulb has gone and the management of the park have got it ordered but it’s not arrived yet. I had hoped it had been replaced in time for your visit but obviously it hadn’t been. So I am very sorry about that. Wishing you both all the best Bridget Property Owner

“Very peaceful location close to Cartmel village.”

Stunning scenery. Coachman’s Cottage is lovely, Comfortable beds and sofas and everything you need for self catering. We even saw a Kingfisher dive into the pond which made our day. My only niggle there was no Wi-Fi connection in the main bedroom, not a huge issue but could easily be remedied with a booster kit. Highly recommended.

“Cottage peaceful but didn't realise it was in a complex with chalets.”

Parking OK for cars but tricky for larger vehicles. Good quality fixtures & fittings. Lovely beds but main bedroom a bit cramped. Cottage a bit fusty but plenty of heaters around. Are not normally asked to strip beds in Sykes cottages. Very impressed that Sean came round immediately when we were having problems with the TV.

“Perfect cottage in idyllic surroundings.”

Very quiet & peaceful in lovely south lakeland. Really wasnt ready or willing to leave! Cartmel area is full of character & amazing views. Quiet open roads (Early March) and charming off the beaten track pubs. Cottage is unique, cosy & comfortable. Facilities at cottage excellent & in fine working order, could not begin to find fault. Location great and walkable into Cartmel in 15 mins. Only addition we’d suggest if it could be accommodated would be the addition of a freezer, or even a fridge with a small freezer section, when staying for a 3 or more days this would be helpful especially if you want ice cream with your sticky toffee

“Arrived and had an Issue with the key fob, we called the number provided by the owner and someone came within 5 mins to let us into the cottage and provide a key for our use.”

Very prompt service. Our only criticism is that you could see straight into the cottage next door and they into our cottage. A privacy panel placed in the corner would stop this.

Cottage was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. Comfy beds and scenic countryside surrounding us. Having a warden on the site was also very helpful. Doorway leading to section where bathroom and bedrooms are is low, which may cause headache for taller people. As long as you remember to mind your head, you're fine. Pleasantly beds were long enough even for 6 foot+ Many thanks!

“Nice cottage, comfortable beds and living room, well furnished and facilities good.”

Parking easy. Good directions, easy and convenient collection of keys. Not a very safe road to walk along into Cartmel in the dark, for a drink or a meal, but it’s easy to park in the racecourse, next to the town centre. One comment for visitors, if you come in the winter as we did, bring your slippers and the floors are tiled or stone in the living room, kitchen and bathroom.

“We were very pleased with the cottage and our holiday, it did not disappoint from the good and accurate description to our comfortable stay and not having to go without anything.”

The owner clearly has thought this out and made it a real home that is cosy and catered for all. The cottage is in fine decoration and the sofas and beds are extremely comfortable. It is quiet and relaxing and plenty to see and do without having to travel too far. You are situated as an apartment within a bigger overall building and the garden is not exclusive so not exactly private but it has been very well done. We can recommend this cottage and would stay again no question, thank you.

The kitchen area was easy to work in, my one criticism would be that it would benefit from some larger oven dishes as we like to cook at home. We would go back as it is located within easy walking distance from Cartmel without having to worry about parking in this busy village.

“This cottage and its surroundings exceeded all expectations and it's location is perfect for visiting areas of interest, including Ulverston and Lakeside, with the beautiful village of Cartmel with its quaint gift shops, fab food from lovely pubs and beautiful tea rooms on your doorstep.”

The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable with a lake right outside where ducks swim with their young. Loved feeding them and watching them then feed the little ones. Quiet, quaint, relaxing and a sun trap. Had beautiful weather the whole week we were there. Lots of leaflets in the cottage to browse through on where to visit and thank you so much Bridget for the lovely lemon cake, beautiful fresh flowers in a vase on the table (it was my mothers 80th) and basics like tea bags and milk etc to start us off. Plenty of hot water whenever we needed it too. All in all, the holiday was just perfect and I'd absolutely recommend 100%!

The Coachmans was absolutely perfect. So homely! The furnishings and fittings are of exceptional quality. The bedrooms spacious and beds so comfy. Everything thought of.throughout the cottage. A perfect setting for exploring, yet off the beaten track. Plenty of safe parking available on site. Cartmel is a short walk away and great for eating out. Plenty of walks from the door, many 4mls circular, we did the walk to Holker Hall and also the fell walk to Grange, which takes you through the golf course. We're looking forward to returning and continuing the local walks! Can't wait to stay again and it'll be for longer next time!

The kitchen is modern and has everything you need. The bathroom has a good shower and a bath with plenty of hot water. Linen and towels were of high quality. The beds are very comfortable. Parking is secure and the seating area outside is delightful. The cottage is situated in a beautiful setting; the surroundings are idyllic. We thought this was an excellent place to stay, would highly recommend it and would definitely return.

“The cottage is without doubt one of the best, if not the best that we have stayed at.”

There was tourist information and OS maps as well as short guided walk maps ready for us to use. The kitchen is excellent; all new with good quality cutlery and dishes. The double bed is really comfortable and I have to say that the pillows are good and give a good nights sleep to anyone who suffers from a bad neck as I do. The bathroom again has a feel that its just been finished and made ready just for your visit, the shower is easy to operate, its really good.

“So much to do in the area but yet a quiet corner of the Lakes.”

Had excellent road links to the rest of the Lakes and Cumbria. Great food and drink locally. A cosy and clean cottage to return to, with a particularly good TV and Internet connection. Had a really varied and quality collection of books, games and DVDs too, so no worries about the weather! Loved the ducks on the pond and the well kept gardens, lovely to stroll through after tea.

Originally the coach house for the adjacent manor house, this bright and elegant cottage is one of several cottages on this quiet and secluded site, and has pretty views across a duck pond and a stream which offers a good variety of wild birds.

Many charming features have been retained from the days when horses were stabled here.
