Yamthwaite

Yamthwaite was superb.

A beautiful location in Grizedale forest matched with a wonderful property. 2 large double bedrooms gave more than enough space to move around and store clothes. On suite bathroom to 1 bedroom perfectly laid out. Main bathroom with a bath and shower was massive. Downstairs with a long hallway perfect for coming into if wet. Dinning room / kitchen plenty big enough. All in all, we found the layout to be perfect and the whole house was done up to a very high standard. Wooden floors were a surprise, but I personally liked them. We would definitely be looking at staying again.

Lovely modern cottage with views and sitting areas in front and back gardens, with loads of birds and forest walks from the door.

Comfortable beds and seating, spacious, smart looking kitchen-diner, effective easily controlled heating, good bath & shower rooms, good wifi. We had a lovely 3 days there and may well go again. The only negative was the kitchen. Doors & drawers were the push-to-open type, but were difficult to close (not soft-close!), hence were often left open. The layout was poor, with the sink at the opposite end from the main food-prep area, no worktop next to the fridge or microwave, etc.

Perfect for walking with the dog. Accommodation was warm and had everything that we needed.

The pictures of this property don’t do it justice. Very simplistic, yet thoughout decor! Easy access for Hawkshead and across to Ambleside. Great walks, bike trails on the door step. Perfect for the dogs. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely look to book again!

Fantastic place well thought out.

Nicely decorated and very comfortable

This is a lovely, spacious, clean and comfortable cottage in a quiet location.

Ideally placed for walks in the forest. We would certainly recommend it. As well as walks we particularly recommend a session at the Observatory and a glass blowing experience from the Hand Made shop in Hawkshead. Only slight negatives were not enough toilet rolls and we found the hob tricky to operate. Should we have needed to raise any issues the only contact number was Sykes.

The house was the perfect base for a relaxing week in the forest, beautifully presented and equipped with everything we needed.

The beds were very comfortable. On arrival one of the beds had been made up as a double instead of twin beds, but it only took one phone call and this was sorted quickly. Both our sons are keen mountain bikers - we’ve stayed at a few properties with bike storage but this was by far the best. Great access to walking and bike trails, and wonderful having the forest to ourselves in the evenings!

The location was perfect and the house had everything we needed for our stay. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable.

Great facilities and comfort. Location is wonderful walks from the door and not far from any tourist attractions. Weather no matter what us we'll catered for. Would visit again.

Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings.

Very comfy beds. The only downside was I felt it could do with some smaller oven proof dishes, the 2 there are very big!

Such a beautiful place and location, very peaceful and cosy, we will definitely be back.

Lovely accommodation in a great quiet picturesque location.

A few minutes walk and your at the Grizdale centre with all the amenities. You don't have to drive as there are plenty of walks from the front door and well situated to explore southern lakes. Excellent cooking facilities and equipment (cooker a little sensitive). The whole cottage decor and facilities were excellent will be returning soon.

Beautiful property.

We had difficulty fathoming out how to use the smart TV! No instructions provided. A very beautiful well equipped kitchen, though I made an apple crumble one evening and couldn’t find a suitable overproof dish. Thank you

a wonderful holiday home accurately listed , everything we needed was available and no issues with anything.

a great location , very tranquil , with lovely walks on your doorstep. attractive villages within easy reach with interesting shops and excellent eateries.

This was a fabulous week in a beautifully restored cottage in Grizedale with its lovely walks all on the doorstep.

No need for the car and the brilliant food at cafe Ambio a brief walk away too. The owner should be proud of all the work he has done on the house and frankly we wanted for nothing. Of course the weather helped but we walked many miles each day. Hawks head is a must for a visit and lunch at the Queens Head. Our spaniel had the time of his life. Thank you so much. Derek and Gail

The property was very well situated and everything you could wish for they provided including an abundance of wild life and birds.

We loved our month there and won’t hesitate to book again.

The property was just as described, very comfortable, all mod cons and beautiful surroundings.

Would highly recommend! One suggestion would be to leave instruction manuals for tv and cooker.

Cottage was super clean, very comfortable and has all the mod cons. Very quietly situated down a private road with the forest on your doorstep. Lots of walks straight from the house. Would not hesitate in booking here again.

The house is located in an incredibly quiet spot, yet only a few hundred yards from the main road.

Yamthwaite was very much a home from home for the two of us and the dog for our short break, and was very well equipped throughout. It's clear the owner wants people to feel relaxed there, and they absolutely achieved this. The weather wasn't too kind to us on our visit, but we hope to return at some point in the not too distant future to sit in the garden with a glass of wine listening to a wonderful silence punctuated only by bird song.

Lovely well equipped accommodation in super secluded location.

Dog friendly provided your dog isn’t a wondering type as no front gate although very little through traffic.

My husband and I and dog Ginny had the most amazing stay at your beautifully restored home.

It’s been renovated to a high standard using natural material which blends in perfectly with it surroundings. Your attention to detail really gives this property a home from home feeling. We particularly enjoyed relaxing after long walks and days visiting the numerous lakes in your garden listening to the birds singing over a glass of wine. The position of this property is ideal, walks on your doorstep but, also a lovely village Hawkshead a 5min drive away which has lots of amenities including pubs, restaurants and shops. We can’t wait to return and are already looking at dates. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous home, we highly recommend to anybody who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle and chilli but, still have the stunning Lake District on your doorstep.
