Lack of basic sundries made it inconvenient
For example. No salt, pepper and oil in the kitchen. We understand that it's self catering, but in previous establishments these basics have been supplied. There was also not a mop or broom available, nor a kitchen spray, despite this being expected. So we found it difficult to keep on top of the cleanliness (we had weaning children within our party).
There was only 2 tea towels in the kitchen, when we expected towels to be supplied. 15 adults and 2 tea towels is not near enough. Only one wash cloth and one sponge for the kitchen sink, same issue as above.
No fire lighters for the BBQ, again in the discription we anticipated for some to be supplied, same goes for the sauna (wood but no fire lighters).
We didn't feel that the hot tub was in fully working order (you could only have bubbles on one side at any one time, not simulatiously around)
Car parking allocated for 8 cars, however, one space was full of debris and unusable, someone had to park on the road.
Thank you for your feedback. We will take up some of the points with our cleaning provider such as a lack of tea towels and sponges. There is a mop available and fire lighters for the sauna are usually provided so I will have to investigate what went wrong on this occasion. We do not provide fire lighters for the barbecue. It is true that in the corner of the rear car park there is some firewood but there is still plenty of space for four cars as we have seen with other guests. We also checked the hot tub and it is in full working order and no hot tub is quite the same in terms of how the jets work. Despite Eden Mill being a high quality property and offering outstanding value for money when compared to any other form of accommodation (hotels, B&Bs, etc) for a large group we offer a phone service to solve any smaller issue and a call out service for any significant problem (for example there is a large ASDA only 10 min away so that this guest would not need to have suffered from a lack of tea towels, sponges, fire lighters, etc). Of course it is difficult to be 100% perfect with a large property such as Eden Mill and some guests leave this large property not in a very good state which makes change overs a challenge, but we will of course strive to continue to uphold our high standards. And it is fair to say that all the points raised by this guest are of a minor nature and can be easily rectified.
