“Ashthwaite lodge was probably one of the best lodges we have stayed in.”
The furnishings and fittings including both bathrooms were very high quality. Definitely 5 star. The super king-size bed was so comfortable.
The site is beautifully kept, very quiet, with plenty of walks for our furry friend, along the river Leven and in woodlands. We appreciated the welcome gifts.

Improvement could be made to the signage at the site entrance as age and weather has made it difficult to see and we had to ask a local for directions. Once on the site each individual lodge has a number and name, again each was difficult to see. Ashtwaite was No4.
It was remote for accessing provisions. The nearest place we found for any shopping was Ulverston, 7 miles away. Great local shops as well as a small Co-op and Tesco.
Overall it was a lovely restful 4 days, just wish it hadn't rained so much.
