    “Lovely cottage which we stayed in last week for our honeymoon in a great location to the south of Windermere with good links to the local area.”

    Some things unfortunately weren't brilliant and we feel let the place down for us. Firstly upon entering the property the under floor heating seemed like such a great thing, but with no way to adjust or turn it off we were simply boiling the whole time we were downstairs and had to have the door open to not be too uncomfortable. Secondly the cleanliness and maintenance wasn't particularly good. Whilst the cottage is so wonderfully well equipped, we noticed cobwebs in every room, thick dust on ...

    Some things unfortunately weren't brilliant and we feel let the place down for us. Firstly upon entering the property the under floor heating seemed like such a great thing, but with no way to adjust or turn it off we were simply boiling the whole time we were downstairs and had to have the door open to not be too uncomfortable. Secondly the cleanliness and maintenance wasn't particularly good. Whilst the cottage is so wonderfully well equipped, we noticed cobwebs in every room, thick dust on the beams and there were plug sockets hanging out of the walls in one of the bedrooms. The washing machine purged a load of black gunk all over our garments one evening and upon inspection under the inner door seal was very dirty. The fronts of the kitchen cupboards were splattered with alsorts of tea and food stains, which I spent our first evening cleaning and we found a finger nail that had been bitten off in the lounge. On our final day my husband whipped round with the vacuum and managed to hoover up crumbs in the spare bedroom, baring in mind we hadn't eaten in there. Lastly the Internet didn't work for the last day or two of our trip, now there had been a storm which we assumed had caused the outage, but what was disappointing was that there was no communication from the property manager about this (we did manage to overhear someone saying there was an issue with the wifi that was being looked, but only whilst we had the door open cooling off from that underfloor heating!) The property had some really great features. On a positive the beds were comfy, the upstairs heating was adjustable, the hot tub very clean and a well stocked kitchen, plus welcome items that were a lovely. For us it just needs that bit of tlc to make it back to fantastic and since it wasn't the cheapest accommodation out there I guess we expected more.

A superb link-detached stone cottage with private hot tub on a large private wrap-around patio courtyard garden with lawn and stunning views.

In the living area there are two leather settees and a dining area with a large window so you can enjoy the views whilst dining.

There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and a woodburner in the sitting room.

This room also has attractive arched windows and bespoke shutters.

Step out from the living area through French doors onto the large patio and enjoy the views!

On the first floor there are two bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, beams and one of the bedrooms has a circular window with vaulted ceiling and direct long-reaching views.

The Courtyard - Bigland Hall Estate

Backbarrow 1.5 miles.
