Beautiful cottage, very comfortable and very clean.

A lovely cottage beautifully decorated and furnished.

It was comfortable and had everything we need. Sadly when we arrived the cottage hadn't been cleaned and we had wet and dirty towels in the bathroom and bed had not been changed. A phone call to Sykes and this was quickly sorted out without any fuss. There did seem to be a problem with flies, there being lots in the cottage. There was a flyspray in the cottage so this may be an ongoing problem. We also found there was a surprising amount of farm traffic going past early morning and about 10 at night.

My partner and I throughly enjoyed our stay.

The house was clean and tidy and very well equipped. It’s in a perfect location with lots to do around you or to just simply sit in the garden listening to the sheep and birds. We will definitely be recommending. Thank you for our perfect stay :)

Lower Ashmead is a lovely cottage based on a farm in between Outgate and Hawkshead.

It is quiet and tucked away so gives you a very peaceful environment. It’s a five minute drive into Hawkshead, although you could walk across the bridle way if the weather is kind. Unfortunately, it rained all three nights we were there so this wasn’t an option. The cottage itself is incredibly well done, it appears to be fairly new and has all mod cons. The bathroom and shower are great, the open plan kitchen/diner/sitting room means you are involved in the space, it has comfortable furniture and is very well equipped. The beams make it feel quite rustic too. It made a great base for us, we went to Grizedale which our dog thoroughly enjoyed and also did a fabulous walk around Elterwater. Lower Ashmead is perfectly located for all your adventures, thoroughly recommend!!

Staying at Low Ashmead Cottage was absolutely lovely.

The facilities provided were excellent that made our stay so enjoyable. The style and design of the cottage was great and made it a really comfortable place to rest after a day's walking and visiting the local areas. It's setting was fab, not too remote but enough to feel the quietness of the countryside. We would definitely like to visit again and we have already recommended the cottage to family and friends.

The gift bag for the dog was a lovely touch. It had everything you could possibly need and the facilities were great. Loved that we could let the dog free roam in the gated drive. Would highly recommend.

This property was delightful and perfect for a couple and dog.

Everything about it is homely and comfortable. The owners have made it feel like a home rather than a rental and there are lots of lovely touches. Thank you to the owners. We will be back.

We had a fabulous stay here in this very comfortable and well equipped cottage.

The only thing missing was some oven gloves, but we use two of our own tea towels to get hot things out of the oven. We walked straight from the cottage on 4/6 mornings. Twice down into Hawkshead, once to Tarn Hows and once to Outgate and beyond. We also drove over to Langdale for a nice walk and up a hill near Hawkshead using a leaflet from the cottage. We even saw an adder up there! We couldn’t have picked a better week for good weather so we were very lucky. I’m sure we will be back for another visit.

We stayed here for a long weekend in January for my husbands 60th.

What a fabulous place, great location only a few minutes drive to the popular local towns and villages. The property was spotlessly clean with everything you need. The owners have honestly thought of everything from the layout of the compact, but perfectly comfortable and stylish space to the quality of the fixtures and fittings and those little touches for your furry friend. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

This cottage was ideal for me and my wife plus our border terrier.

The property was well laid out, had all things we could need and really dog friendly. Hot and cold water taps outside to clean the dog before going inside after a long walk, even a tub to do the dog cleaning in. The dog treats and gift were appreciated by our pooch, she definitely enjoyed her stay. We would definitely use this property again when returning to the lake district

Beautifully presented cottage.

Very comfortable and cosy. Great to have the entrance area to leave boots and coats and to sort our dog out before entering the main living area. Shower room was particularly impressive! Thank you for providing dog bowls as I accidentally left mine at home.

Well-equipped, comfy, clean warm cottage in good quiet location with easy access to lots of walks etc.

We had a great stay at Low Ashmead Cottage which is in a lovely setting in the southern Lakes.

The cottage interior is well planned creating a very cosy atmosphere and is finished to a high standard. It was extremely clean and warm with an impressive wall mounted electric fire in the living area. We thought it was a lovely touch that the room was decorated for Christmas. The bathroom definitely has the wow factor! We found the cottage to be very well organised for dog owners with a bath and warm water outside to clean up our muddy fox terrier as well as a useful lobby area to dry him off. Unfortunately, the weather was very wet which was disappointing but it was a pleasure to come back to this delightful cottage every evening.

Top quality cottage which was cosy and warm.

Our only criticism was that the microwave smelt very strongly of curry, which was very off-putting. Despite cleaning it twice, the odour remained.

The best place I’ve ever stayed!

Really close to all the villages. Perfect for the dog because you can trap them in so they can use the toilet etc. Looking to stay there again.

Low Ashmead is absolutely 5* in every respect from the decoration, fixtures and fittings and comfort.

Great cottage with a fantastic location for visiting all local towns and attractions.

There are some fantastic walks from the cottage. The cottage was very well presented with everything required to make the stay comfortable. Very little light pollution which allowed brilliant views of the night sky. This cottage is at the top of our list to stay again.

A wonderful cottage in a perfectly peaceful location.

Close enough to plan a day out to the local tourist spots, then retreat back to peace and quiet. A 20 minute walk to the Outgate inn. Good food and lovely surroundings.

Lovely place, ideal base for visiting the area and there is a pub within walking distance which is not expected when a location is remote.

Low Ashmead Cottage is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many over the years.

Lots of thoughtful touches like the provision of a yoga mat, a spare lead for the dog, outside hot and cold water taps for dirty walking boots and dogs, a welcome pack for us and one for the dog. The cottage was immaculate and although has been available for about a year, looks brand new. The only downside for some (not us) may be the remoteness of the cottage. Make sure you have enough provisions as it's not easy to 'pop down to the shops'.

I have been staying in the Lake District for Spring breaks over the last 30 years and this property was the cleanest, freshest and best provided for I have ever known.

Also, very smartly decorated. Enjoyed it so much we are returning at the very end of September for the week into October.

We loved our week at the cottage, it was a perfect base.

The little packages of goodies left for us and our dog were much appreciated. Thank you!

Excellent quality fixtures and fittings and Decor , comfortable Furniture and Bed , Spotlessly Clean, everything you could need is supplied , I would go as far as to say Ashmead Cottage is one of the Best Self Catering establishments I have ever stayed in ( I’m 81 so I’ve been in a lot ) Welcome pack was particularly appreciated especially Dexters ( our Border Collie ) the only small problem I had was finding somewhere to throw his ball as he does like a good run I’m hoping to rectify this on our next visit as we will DEFINITELY RETURN ! Thank you for providing the chance to have a wonderful week, but it went by too quickly Best Regards Sally and Graham

It was a lovely property and is very well maintained

Very well furnished, equipped, clean, and warm cottage.

Dog friendly, and well located on a farm to be peaceful. Would definitely recommend. Only note is that we weren't able to find any direct paths out to walk to nearby areas, only walking by roads; which isn't a big issue if you were planning to drive to different locations anyway.

The property is gorgeous, very very clean!

Perfectly decorated and modern. The only slight thing is it not being enclosed so having to take our dog out on a lead each time was annoying but it wasn’t the end of the world! Absolutely loved our stay!

What a delightful gem of a cottage this is.

Very comfortable, very clean. Furnished very nicely. Well equipped kitchen. The bed was comfortable. What more could you ask? There was even a welcome pack for the dog!

It is a beautiful cottage, in a great location.

The cottage is located next to a working farm, which we didn't mind at all it was lovely to hear the cows mooing. We had lots of days out at Ambleside, Coniston, Grisedale forest, and Hawshead, which were all close by. The cottage has a lovely little outdoor area. However, due to the garden not being enclosed, we weren't able to enjoy it as it would have ment having the do on the lead.

Beautiful cottage in every way.. we didn't want to leave! Everything you could need and more with lovely welcome packs for us and the dog. Extremely thoughtful and decor was just perfect. Just lovely and homely to boot.

The only issue we faced was after one of us had a 15 minute shower the water would be cold, other than that it was absolutely lovely and will definitely return in the future :)

Ashmead Cottage was a fabulous place to stay, had everything we needed and more and was very central for exploring the lakes but also felt out of the way.

We will certainly stay again.

A beautiful central place to stay which is perfect for visiting the local area.

We enjoyed going to Hawkshead, Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, Kendal and Bowness- all a short distance away. The cottage is situated next to a farm so we enjoyed hearing the cows mooing every morning! Small things to note; sadly there was no Visitors Book which would have been appreciated so that we too, could write restaurant, pub, walk recommendations to future guests, as it’s always lovely to have suggestions based on others’ feedback. Also we brought our own dog towels for muddy paws which was lucky as none were provided, no charging point for shaver/electric toothbrush either, which was a shame in such a modern and stylish bathroom. Lovely outside seating area that sadly we were unable to use as it isn’t enclosed for dogs, and we didn’t want to keep him on a lead after being on one all day. Would be perfect if it could be fenced off away from the farm track.

The property was exceptional, clean and modern interior with all utilities on site.

A wonderful area of the lake district and generally central with a small drive to the main tourist areas. Plenty of wonderful walks around the area. Our Dog Poppy loved it.

Property was easy to find & looked lovely on arrival.

The location was perfect for us. The outside space was fab & were lucky with the weather! The cottage insde was perfect, clean bright & comfy. Well thought out throughout. Well equipped the kitchen. The property is about 1.3 miles from Hawkshead either down the lanes or footpath across the fields. The pub in Outgate is slightlyy closer but isn't currently open. We very much enjoyed our stay here & will be back

A very attractive, up-to-date cottage, with comfortable bed, very well equipped kitchen in a peaceful location with good parking.

The nearby village of Hawkshead close by with Tarn Hows, Wray Castle, Windermere lakeside, Hill Top all within easy reach. We enjoyed our stay very much.
