    “Frost Cottage is in an ideal location for Lake Windermere.”

    It’s in a quiet secluded part of the lake with direct access to the ferry and the private parking outside the cottage is convenient. The cottage itself is well equipped and very comfortable however the level of cleanliness is not up to standard unfortunately and the dishwasher wasn’t in working order. Those issues can be rectified easily. The maintenance team were very helpful and friendly and we appreciated their quick response to our insect issue on the bedroom, ceiling on the second ...

The cottage itself is well equipped and very comfortable however the level of cleanliness is not up to standard unfortunately and the dishwasher wasn’t in working order. The maintenance team were very helpful and friendly and we appreciated their quick response to our insect issue on the bedroom, ceiling on the second night where we had left the light on in the evening with the windows open…….rookie mistake! The views from the cottage are stunning, and the patio over looking the lake is full of geese, birds, rabbits and ducks. We took great delight in feeding them every morning. I would highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a comfortable stay in a quiet, peaceful location with easy access to the lakes and surrounding area and we will definitely return.

Hawkshead 3.9 miles; Bowness (via ferry) 1.5 miles.

The village of Far Sawrey has a pub/restaurant, whilst Bowness, with all its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, is just a short distance across the lake by ferry. Also close by is ‘Hill Top’, once the home of Beatrix Potter, and Hawkshead with its picturesque 17th century cottages. Footpaths lead from the grounds to the village and Claife Heights - a noted beauty spot of forests and tarns. Watersports are close at hand on Windermere, along with Lake Cruises and the majestic Wray Castle to admire. Fishing can be enjoyed on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.
