Third time we’ve stayed here & love it!

Can’t fault it as a central location in the Lakes and it had obviously been recently redecorated. Tracey and husband are usually around and there’s nothing they don’t know about making the most of your stay on Windermere especially being on the water! Can’t wait to return - thanks again!

We took the duvet (13.

5 tog) out of its cover as it was too hot with the heatwave while we were there. The duvet itself could do with replacing as there were stains on it.

This is our second visit but disappointed this time in several areas 1 Kitchen stains on sink waste and plug ( needs a good Jif or Bleach) Food particles in shelf’s of dish washer Sittig room watermarks and stains on coffee tables,cobwebs behind coffee tables.

Bedroom wardrobe off runners and ONLY3 coat hangers.Bathroom Blind string broken but the worst is the TOILET FLUSH it takes 2 hands to push flush any elderly or disabled person would have great difficulty Hope this all can be seen to it needs some TLC +Dust on bed head board and skirting board on stairs Sorry I have not been positive but these are issues which were very visible j

Great location for various activities and a chilled week, great loops for cycling and walking.

Weather not great this time so limited use of balcony. This was our 4th year.

We love the place. We were disappointed that the bathroom blind has not been repaired/replaced. Otherwise apart from the weather another comfortable stay.

It was our 6th visit to the (Far Sawrey) ferry holiday lets.

We enjoyed it just as much as before and would certainly recommend them. We'll be back! I do have a cautionary comment - the main door lock was so hard to turn with the key that the key was in danger of breaking (I fixed that temporarily). There is a water mark in the kitchen ceiling underneath the shower and the adjacent LED is off, suggesting a leak around the shower tray or tiles. Both deserve attention. Thank you, great stay.

A lovely property and beautiful location.

Slight inconvenience of missing items of kitchen equipment, which frustratingly we were unable to communicate to Sykes holidays due to an inability to get through on the phone. An opportunity to leave voicemails or email messages would make it easier to resolve such minor issues. Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful.

Thoroughly enjoyed the cottage facilities.

Very clean.Would suggest that the kitchen tap needs attention.

Comfort views position All spot on Perfect

Absolutely lovely holiday, balcony overlooking small inlet of Lake Windermere was wondering to sit out on, watching mallards, Canadian geese, mandarin ducks, greylag geese, Robins, bluetits etc and a rabbit one day.

Windermere car ferry, 100 yards from front door. Lovely walks, and Joey's cafe a short walk away. Pretty Hawkshead close by. Would thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful comfy cottage with fantastic views.

Ideally placed for walking and getting the Ferry. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable, loved to see the stars from our bed. The only thing to fault it was the kitchen being a little small as we like to cook but everything was there that we needed, just rather lacking in work top space.

Amazing location, very clean and well maintained.

Almost perfect. Only feedback is a foot rest for the sofa as it's quite small, so somewhere to put feet up in the evening would be perfect. Also pillows very flat, otherwise very comfortable bed.

Superb location and the property was well layed out.

The balcony was great, overlooking the lake, and with the hot weather was an added bonus. However, on arrival, we spent about an hour cleaning various parts of the property such as the kitchen sink, cutlery, glasses, cutlery trays, cobwebs, banister and wardrobe runners which had hairs sitting in them. Overall. Great property, really enjoyed our stay and would stay again but it does need a thorough deep clean.

It would be good if the property had a few more spoons etc and simple condiments such as salt & pepper.

However it’s a fantastic property with good facilities and amazing views over the lake. Our second stay here and enjoyed it as much as the first

It's worth pointing out that the lock on this property is sticking, it took us half an hour to unlock the door from the inside multiple times.

It also kept sticking from the outside too so we couldn't get in either. Eventually it would unlock but you have to just keep trying it til it eventually works. The radiator in the bedroom leaks if you try alter it, we really wanted to turn it off as it was really warm in the bedroom but when we went to turn it down loads of water spewed out. The property is starting to look quite tired, we've been staying there for a few years now, we've been a total of 5 times and honestly the bedroom and bathroom needs a refresh now, there are cracks everywhere and the cleaners never clean behind the bed or the bedside tables, the dust in there is unreal. We like the location of the proper as it makes it easy to paddleboard but honestly we probably wouldn't stay there anymore if it wasn't for it being on the lake as we always have to deep clean it when we arrive. The floors are always really dirty and our socks end up black after an hour of waking around unpacking. The place needs looking after a bit better to be honest because it used to be really nice but after a few years of wear and tear and not very through cleaning it's not worth £800+ for the week. Besides the fact that it needs some love, the beds a really comfy, the location is stunning and it's actually a really nice little place, especially if you want to hike or get out on the lake, hence the reason we keep returning. It's worth following Windermere ferry on twitter to check if it's running or not too because if it isn't you've got a lengthy drive around the lake to get to the property. We arrived last week and I forgot to check but when we arrived in the lakes we saw that the ferry was closed for the whole month! Anyway, these houses have their pros and cons but my overall feeling is that they need a bit of a deep clean and a lick of paint (and a lock change)

Great place to stay with fabulous views over Lake Windermere.

Located next to the Windermere ferry for hopping across to the other side of the lake. One day we had no hot water or heating and this was dealt with very promptly by Sykes customer service, who contacted us later in the day to check it had been fixed.

A lovely warm little cottage in a brilliant position.

We hardly used our car at all. Enjoyed cycling to Wray castle and Ambleside. The walk to Hill top and up onto Claiffe Heights was really enjoyable. We loved the balcony and watching the ducks and geese. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfy. Would definitely recommend this property for a couple who love walking and biking.

We spent a week here in mid-February, in weather that forced us to the lower fells some days, but our spirits remained high because we love the fells, we love the climate, we love staying at Lowe-McConnell.

This is our second visit to Lowe-McConnell and we will book again. Amazing location, place and views.

Perfect having the ferry next to the house We will definitely be back

Was very nice but few things need to be improved, the cattle need to be changed, hoover doesn't work even the plates was dirty we have to clean them, the rubbish bags missing, only one toilet paper.

I hope somebody really see this and improve because the property is amazing and he was very hard for us to provide any stuff because was Christmas everything was closed. Thank you very much

Highly recommend absolutely amazing everything you need beautiful furnishings and bedding Our last day we were out all day retuned to no hot water (needed a shower) contacted out of hours number great service.

Plumber arrived at approximately 7-45 unable to repair fault on boiler needed a new part.So unfortunately we left next morning earlier than we had planned for home,

We've stayed a few times now.

Couldn't fault the location or the feel of property. The bed is really comfy, the view is perfect, it's got everything you need, even a washing machine if you feel like doing some laundry while you're away. Lowe McConnell works for us really well for walks and paddleboarding so that's why we keep coming back. Plus it's nice to get away from the hoards in bowness but still have everything within a short distance. Downsides - The property could probably do with a freshening up a bit now, it's looking a bit tired in places and needs a deep clean (especially the floor). The fan needs replacing or fixing (it's a bit wonky and changes speed whenever it likes) and if the weather is nice it can get quite warm in these properties due to the location. Not sure the bathroom fan works either. Having said that, it is a nice place to stay. It's a shame the cost of a 7 night stay has almost doubled in 2 years! Nothing has changed in the property to warrant the price hike to be honest.

Our second visit and it certainly won’t be our last.

An ideal location right on the edge of Lake Windermere. Perfect for walking or just being lazy and enjoying the view from the balcony. Nicely furnished and a lovely place to stay.

We stayed for 6 nights in this beautiful cottage (would have loved to stay 7 but had commitments).

The cottage is everything you would need and more. Beautiful furnishings and very comfortable. Easy to get the ferry to Bowness or stay and explore Far Sawrey with its breathtaking sights and lovely walks. Would highly recommend staying her and we will most definitely be back. Excellent value for money. The hamper on arrival was a lovely touch

We wanted a week away to escape the Coronation and thought a visit to the lake district would fit the bill.

We looked for a lake view but close to amenities but not in a noisy area. Lowe McConnell looked to be the ideal location and it was. A great base on the quiet side of Windemere , 50 yards from the ferry across to the busy side , ferry leaves approx every 25 mins and takes 10 mins to get across. The balcony looks over the west bank of the lake and up views of the mountains in the distance to the north edge. The accommodation was exactly what we were looking for, contemporary, very clean with everything you need , the Kitchen /diner/lounge/bedroom/en-suite were excellent . The daily visits from the ducks and geese as well as other birds was good to see and the activity on the lake also. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return . A great location to explore the lake district from , quiet but only 10 -15 mins away from the much busier Bowness for restaurants/bars/shops/boat cruises etc. Only negative is no pets allowed.

Having stayed at Pearsall (next door) last September, I enjoyed the extra view from the end balcony of Lowe McConnell!

The apartment had everything one needs and it was very easy to feel comfortable staying there.

Perfect break!

Well kitted out cottage (some nice additional special touches), beautiful views, amazing location - £1 per person on the ferry and then 15 minutes walk to Bowness. Genuinely couldn’t fault it, we will be back!

Stunning place and location, we arrived late after 9 hours drive only to find no parking !

The cottage name was not easy to find. I was kept on hold after calling the help line! We parked and got out to search for our cottage! Still on hold!!! Found the place and keep our car in unsuitable parking being closer to the ferry bay !!. I had to hang up as I was tired! Once we settled in, we were ready to cook our supper, the oven switch was visible and we could turn on and get some food cooking away we try to get the hob on we couldn’t see the switch! After awhile and removing the knives holder we could see the switch! Then Anthony called me I explained the issue and I mentioned to him the frying pan is so burnt and had thick layers of back flaky enamel! I said we are going to buy a frying pan then He suggested not to do so and promised that we will get a new frying pan! Still waiting !! The next morning We realised the kettle too wasn’t good ! I usually drink lemon water every morning, boiled the kettle and poured water in your white stoneware mug and the water had some black dust “ particals “ not sure what it was! I ringed the kettle several time but still resting these black small particals!! Midday Saturday we decided to cross using the ferry and headed to Windermere town to purchase the frying pan and the kettle!….. I did felt a let down! And waisted a day to cross and purchase equipment! To carry on with our holiday! I took some pictures to keep as evidence and I more than happy to send over.

We had a great stay a Lowe-McConnell.

It was our first time to the western shores of Windermere and what a beautiful setting for this cottage. It's proximity to the water makes for some incredible morning and evening views looking North over Lake Windermere. Additionally, it's proximity to the Ferry makes for getting to the eastern shore much more convenient, albeit for a small fee. The cottage itself has an inviting decor, a cosy feel and a great balcony to enjoy the Lake from the comfort of the cottage. The Kitchen is well equipped for self-catering. A very minor point is to be careful of the tap, it has a tendency to splash back if turned on too quickly. Overall, an enjoyable stay in a fabulous location, we would recommend this to friends and family.

Beautifully clean and well equipped with quality furnishings in a fantastic location. We loved it and will definitely return. Just a note to the agents...the postcode provided in the email is incorrect so it took a little finding in the dark!!

The settee had a horrible smell .

The tap in the kitchen was very loose. I do feel the bushes out side the veranda could do with a good pruning as it spoiled the view of the lake.And that was one of the reasons we booked this cottage.

Gorgeous property, in a great location.

Would have booked again if Sykes hadn't increased the cost by 50%!!! I accept companies need to recoup losses due to Covid but 50% increase is taking advantage of the situation. Have booked to go elsewhere with another company!!

Yikes Sykes!

We came last year and loved it so much we booked there and then for the same week this year. We were hoping to do the same and come again next year! Same time! Same place! However, last year we paid £450. This year was £650 which we thought was a steep increase but we accepted it. Next year is £950! Greedy Sykes! Sadly, we’ll go elsewhere!

A well presented cottage in a lovely setting.

Unfortunately for us, the ferry was out of service for most of our stay and while we understand that this is not the responsibility of the owner, we had intended to use it as foot passengers to access Bowness, so this left us feeling a little isolated. However, the thing that might prevent us from booking this property again would be the significant increase in rental fees for next year, which we feel do not represent good value for a maximum of two adults. Otherwise we would certainly recommend the property.

My wife and I had a lovely time.

The cottage and it’s location were first class. To have that view of the lake from our balcony every morning was great. To that extent we decided to book again for next year. On contacting yourselves, we were told that the price had almost doubled, which unfortunately put us off.

The location of this accommodation was perfect, very peaceful and truly enjoyed being so close to the waters edge with ducks and swans just outside.

Very comfortable bed and nicely equipped. Great spot to enjoy this part of the lakes - we will be back!

What a fantastic location, waking up to the views of water and forest was incredible, whilst laying in what I can only describe as the comfiest bed I've slept in - which was needed after hiking up mountains all day.

The house was perfect, great kitchen which comes with washing machine and dishwasher for those lazy people, oven stove, microwave and everything else you could possibly need. Such a lovely touch to be welcomed with a basket of local goodies, jams, coffee and even beer and Gin which started off our weeks holiday perfectly - we just needed a butler to pour it all out for us. The ONLY criticism we had, was the sofa wasn't the comfiest, which we believe others have commented on, after trekking up Scafell or one of the other many local mountains, nothing better to come back and crash on a big comfy sofa with your partner, however the sofa didn't quite allow us to do this - but a small issue amongst many positives. I will also say that the description of the place didn't do it justice. Be warned though, the ferry is needed for you to get around, its £5 each way - so plan for this... couldn't have been happier with the place - would go back in a heart beat! Sykes were also fantastic, quick to answer any questions or ease us of any concerns (Lockdown / Covid)

We had such an amazing stay at Lowe McConnell that we've booked for next year!

We got married in the Lakes the day before our stay and this was the perfect relaxing stay we needed. The accommodation is stunning, contemporary and has the most amazing views. Everything you need is in the cottage even a welcome pack containing milk and condiments. The WiFi was reliable and there was a useful folder containing information about the appliances and leaflets about the surrounding area. The ferry across to Bowness is on the doorstep and runs every 20 mins and costs £1 per foot passenger and £5 per car. There is also little takeaway hut called The Hatch which does tasty flamed orange hot chocs! The cottage is situated within easy access by car to all locations throughout the Lake District. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone who is a keen walker and loves the heart of Lakes.

Ideal being as close to the west shore ferry as you could possibly get, literally a stones throw. Lovely view from the balcony, and waking to see the lake and boats from the bedroom windows! We had a lovely stay, thank you.

The Location and Cottage was just lovely, amazing views of Lake Winderemere were stunning,lovely walks, Lovely villages to visit,nice shops and good selection of places to eat and drink.

Good National Trust places to visit, 1 week is not enough to explore the outstanding beauty of the Lake District. We hope to visit again in the near future.

The hot water went off for 2 days which meant showering and washing up was a problem, I telephoned to report it and it was eventually back on

The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped. Our only small suggestion would be to have more cutlery and crockery. We found we were constantly having to put the dishwasher on because there was only 2 per person of everything. As others have noted, a foot stool in the lounge would be very welcome - we improvised with the dressing table stool! Generally, with Sykes I would say you need to invest in more customer service operators. We have called 3 times in the last few weeks and each time were told there would be a wait of up to an hour. I don’t really think this is acceptable. We had to find other ways to resolve our queries.

Amazing views from the lounge & bedroom. Great food at pub - 1 mile, Beatrix Potter’s house 1.5 miles - great walking area. We loved our holiday and hope to return.

Well equipped kitchen with all the little touches that a lot of places forget i.e tea towels, kitchen roll etc, Beautiful welcome hamper very nice.

This accommodation ticked all the boxes for us.

It is a very stylish contemporary appartment. Everything in it is of a very high specification. It was really comfortable especially the bed. We stayed over New Year and it was lovely and cosy which was great to come back to after many of the lovely walks on the doorstep. The situation of the property is beautiful as it is right on Lake Windermere. We loved sitting in the living room or in bed watching the boats moored on the Lake drifting around. A real relaxing property.

The property is really well equipped and the welcome pack of teas, ground coffee and locally made preserves, plus a bottle of fresh milk in the fridge, was an unexpected and welcome surprise.

The views from the lounge and bedroom are beautifully restful and the property was very cosy, warm and comfortable.
