“HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!”

! A welcome return to Corner Cottage once again to celebrate the New Year. The weather was kind to us despite a lot of cloud but it did stay "dry". Managed to clock 50+ miles... the highlight being a New Year's Day climb up Helvellyn in glorious blue sky! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable once again! Very much appreciated the gifts and treats and preparing the log burner ready for lighting :-) Looking forward to returning soon! Thanks again

The location was excellent for our first visit to the Lake District, lots of walks from the door so we didn’t use our car at all! Two good local pubs nearby and lovely little tea room/cafe in the village.

TROUTBECK

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park.
