Can't fault Haystacks.

Over the many years we've been going to The Lake District, it's the only place we've gone back to. It's a real home from home. It's so comfy and well appointed. In renovating Haystacks the owners could easily have gone for three bedrooms to the detriment of the lovely large living room. But they didn't and went for two excellent bedrooms in a cottage with everything you need for a stay in The Lakes. We would happily go back again and thoroughly recommend for anyone else wanting a peaceful, comfortable stay in a simply fabulous location. The views are stunning. Counting the days to going back!

Absolutely lovely.

The cottage is gorgeous, comfortable with stunning views. It is well equiped with everything needed and is decorated to a very high standard with very comfortable beds. We all slept well. It is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in with some lovely walks from the front door. It was lovely and peaceful and I can't rate it highly enough.

The accommodation was spotless and in a fantastic location.

We could either drive out to see the local areas or just relax at Haystacks, trying out the local pubs and eating in as we wanted. Scenery is second to none from Haystacks. Will definitely return.

This is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in.

This warm and comfortable was a perfect Christmas break. The owner has put a great deal of thought into the needs of the customer throughout with a a very good welcome pack, lovely Christmas decorations, comfortable beds and furnishings. The views from the living areas are excellent. The bathrooms are warm and clean. There are less people in the Lakes at this time of year and this is an ideal place to have a winter break. Well done to Michael the owner.

Lovely accommodation and just as advertised.

The views are stunning and the whole place was very well looked-after and clean. We loved our week at the Haystacks, and the welcome bottle of prosecco was much appreciated, too. We will be back!

This is our 3rd stay at Haystacks and we have already booked for next year, it’s literally like home from home, we instantly relax as we pull down the drive, everything you need is right there waiting for you from comfort, luxury to wonderful views as well as 2 fantastic pubs within walking distance, lovely walks for all levels on your doorstep, I would find it hard to find fault with such beautiful accommodation.

Our second visit and we will definitely book up for next year !

One of the best cottage’s we have ever stayed in.

But we where cold and could do nothing about it.

We have been coming here for the past 5 years which speaks volumes.

We have already booked for next year! The latest changes and improvements implemented by the new owners have only enhanced the property further.

The location is fantastic, with plenty of walks from the front door, and the quality of the property itself is simply outstanding. If it's sunny/warm, sitting on the balcony eating dinner, or just sitting in the living area with both doors open, watching deer playing in the field and views of Windermere Lake in the distance, is so relaxing.

We've been going to the Lakes for years and this is the first time we've found somewhere we'd instantly book again. So, we did! We're coming back next year. Location fabulous. Views amazing. Comfort superb. We really can't report on anything negative about Haystacks.

Beautiful house - well maintained with very good fixtures and fittings!

Even a bottle of wine provided! Glorious views over to lake Windermere! Only draw back please tell visitors not to blow dry hair with door shut as this sets fire alarm off which then tripped the system to be woken at 1.45am with whole system going off! But maintenance men sorted this - big shout out to Alan also unblocked a shower when he attended!

Haystacks is a wonderful property amazing views peaceful location , very comfortable accommodation a truly special place .

A perfect holiday place.

This was our third or fourth visit and Haystacks is easily the best place in Troutbeck. Can think of no downsides.

It’s in a beautiful location and the views from the kitchen balcony and living room are stunning. We did lots of walks from the house and a few further afield, making the most of the very sunny weather. Haystacks is a very welcoming place to come back to after a long day of walking. We hope to return!

This property really has the WOW factor.

It is simply beautiful and the views are fantastic. We were blessed with wonderful weather which made the whole visit very enjoyable and memorable. I would highly recommend. One of the best places we have stayed. The local Queen's Head Pub does excellent food and is within easy walking distance.

My wife, brother and sister in law have just returned from a weeks break at Haystacks Cottage .

The four of us really enjoyed our stay, we found the cottage was perfect for our needs, it was well equipped with stunning views to Windemere. One minor point during our stay we experienced a power outage of 40 hours due to the recent storm,. I would suggest to the owners that they provide candles or some sort of lighting for such an occasion. We were lucky as we bought extra logs with us for the log burner which kept the place warm. Apart from that it is the perfect place to stay

The best holiday cottage we have stayed in.

Haystack has fantastic views with the 'wow' factor. The cottage had everything you need to have a very enjoyable stay, in beautiful surroundings and two great pubs within a short walk.

Cozy appartment with luxury kitchen and living room.

Beautiful situated Village of Troutbeck with two superb pubs. Few minutes to windermere and bowness. We loved it.

Great stay, just a couple of niggles.

The directions could be a bit clearer, maybe a Google Map print showing the exact location (or W3W). There was no red post box to turn left and the Haystacks sign is small. Haystacks is a great place to stay and well situation in the Lake District. The property has been furnished to a high standard and all rooms comfortable and clean. Most things you will need are there. As we hike, it was lovely to have a large entrance area so you can leave boots and any wet gear. Nice tap outside to clean off your boots. The windows in the kitchen and living room need a bit of a clean as you could see finger marks and smudges when the sun was low. The small balcony was covered in bird droppings due to a house martins nest. The boiler had some issues and we had to follow the instructions to re-set most days. Bit of a pain when you get up early and no hot water. The radiators only came on twice during the week (linked to the boiler). We contacted the owner (Graham) and he immediately called, so very responsive. Could not be sorted out for us, but hopefully the problem with the heat pump has been resolved now. He also would feedback to the cleaners. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and the Queens Head Pub nearby has great food (but book).

Everything was perfect, in every respect.

Really enjoyed our stay. Whilst every effort was given regarding directions, finding the correct drive to Haystacks and its parking space was a bit tricky. Glad it wasn’t dark when we arrived.

The only thing u would change is the directions as we saw from other reviews it was hard to find and we couldn’t find the sign from the directions given and got lost ! We found it quickly after this It is definitely a wow when you open the kitchen door We absolutely loved this place , it was perfect from the lighting to the under floor heating and well equipped kitchen. The queens head was lovely food and a short walk onto the main road down the bridle path a few minutes away We loved the book of renovations !! It had everything we needed for a trip away to relax We also liked the maps of walks from the door not having to get in the car to go out. My favourite was the balcony with a cuppa … bliss Thank you for creating such a wonderful place

This is a lovely property in a good location.

Car parking spaces are a little awkwardly positioned but despite this frustration they are usable with care. Specifying at the last moment that unloading adjacent to the patio is not allowed seems a little tedious when using the reason that you don't want guests cars to be damaged by underground water taps etc. Allowing this for 10 minutes at the start and end of your holiday would make things much easier particularly when it's raining. I appreciate care has to be shown to the neighbours property. We raised the issue that the dishwasher had no salt or rinse aid in it when we arrived. We were told that dishwashers don't need this with most detergent tabs. We disagree and hence we're unable to use the dishwasher without going shopping for these items so we didn't use it. The two bathroom towel rails also only got less than Luke warm. We don't know why but this meant towels did not dry between uses. Again we reported this and were offered a visit to sort but as we'd coped for a few days by then we opted to avoid a maintenance visit until after we'd departed as we didnt want people they whilst we were in occupation. Movement light sensors in the hallway/bathrooms are good only downstairs and during daytime elsewhere. To have automatic movement pir sensors in bathrooms and landing are problematic at night as wake other guests when moving about. The above items are only raised for feedback purposes and not intended to be a moan, we did have a great stay and for the second time. We love the cottage and would hopefully like to repeat our stay in the future.

Four of us stayed at this wonderful property.

The cottage is finished to a very high standard and we had everything we needed for a very comfortable week away. The views are stunning from the balconies. The location is perfect for accessing good walks, local villages and towns and was a 5 min walk from The Mortal Man pub in on direction and 10 min walk to The Queens Head in the other. We visited both pubs more than once and they serve great food and were really cosy and welcoming, so really nice to have them on the doorstep. Finding the cottage is a little tricky but having read others reviews we planned ahead for that, and the parking is adequate but also slightly tricky if you drive a larger car…but that’s to be expected in the Lake District and didn’t bother us at all. Overall we think this is one of the best properties we’ve stayed in and we’ve been visiting the Lakes for 20 years now. We would highly recommend to others and will definitely look to book again.

A beautiful property decor and furnishings high quality and thoroughly clean.

Fabulous location views amazing.

This was our third visit to Haystacks and we stayed two weeks.

We love the place and experienced none of the drawbacks which were recorded in the visitor's book. If the property were ours (oh how we wish...) we would make access to the parking space easier by removing some of the dry stone wall on either side of the entrance. Otherwise, just perfect.

Our third time there so you can guess we really like it.

The area and the place itself are both fabulous, even the weather was great this year. The views from the accommodation are lovely, the area is very peaceful and is a good base for exploring the lakes with several gentle walks from the front door. The property is very well equipped and had everything we needed. Already have the next trip booked.

Exceptional views from kitchen diner to the living room. We wished we had booked this cottage for two weeks. We intend to return at some point in the future

Haystacks is a lovely comfortabke and well equipped property and we had a very enjoyable time.

Fortunately the weather was glorious so we made extensive use of the balcony. I can however understand due to the proximity of neighbours some holidaymakers might be disturbed by noise. The car parking was disappointing. We arrived in two cars and both has difficulty unloading and getting into the space provided. It is understandable that whilst the permanent resident might have been previously blocked in and inconvenienced by tenants it would have been helpful to have been allowed to park nearer the property for unloading and loading especially if the weather was inclement. We would certainly book Haystacks again.

Lovely cottage in a great setting

On arriving at the property there was an issue with the electricity and heating, this was due to the remnants of Storm Arwen.

This was soon solved with good communication between Lakelovers/Sykes and the property owner. Haystacks is a beautifully located and fully equipped cottage that has everything you need. Highly recommended, and we hope to return next year.

Absolutely Perfect

There were no surprises (thank goodness).

We travel from Florida, United States, to enjoy the Lake District, and this was our fourth stay at Haystacks. That should say it all. In case it doesn't: the view down the valley to Lake Windermere; a sun-kissed afternoon on the kitchen balcony; two fine, and very different, pubs within walking distance; quality fit and finish in the cottage.

Very warm and cosy. Property was very clean and spacious. Great location in Troutbeck with access to the whole of the lakes, great walks from accommodation and access to two pubs. Hope to be able to come back price permitting.

Amazing views. Really comfortable beds. Very well equipped with everything we needed. Good internet connection. We wish we could have stayed longer ! Would strongly recommend.

Fantastic property.

Excellent location. We appreciated that everything worked….the bathrooms were good with excellent showers, the kitchen was set up well with all appliances working as they should. The parking is a little tricky but once used to it it’s fine. Overall 4 of us (2 couples) really enjoyed it.

We had an excellent time in Haystacks and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

Very comfortable and in a really nice location, not far out of Bowness but far enough to be very quiet.

Haystacks itself is finished to a very high standard, it is very comfortable and everything works! Great view and a couple of pubs within easy walking distance. The log burner is a nice touch and the whole place lives up to the 5* rating, highly recommended.

A fabulous property, in a stunning position.

We had a problem with the heating but both the maintenance team and the owner did everything they could to make us comfortable. The parking area was fine but a little tricky to manoeuvre in to - thank goodness for plenty of cameras on my car! (Medium Sized Car)

Really lovely cottage, views and position were incredible.

It ticked all our boxes and more. Attentive owner who sorted out a minor issue with heating by arranging to have fan heaters delivered to our cottage, though in the end were not needed. His engineer sorted out the problem very well. Parking a little difficult with a large estate car, but that is only minor point. All other aspects far outweighed this.

The property is even better in person than in the photos!

Had a great time, have absolutely nothing negative to report. Would definitely love to stay again.

Lovely, clean and well presented property.

Excellent views. Needs more cutlery however as constantly washing, but this is a very small niggle. We had no hot water on the second day but Lakelovers sorted this very efficiently. Overall would recommend this and we will be visiting again. Of note it is worth mentioning you have to book in advance for the queens head pub if not to be disappointed.

What a superb property.

A high standard of presentation, a view to die for. A great location if you want somewhere quiet, (neighbours depending of course.) Ours were very quiet, like us. Also a great location for walking and touring the area. Book with confidence, it’s the perfect property.

Haystacks is in a beautiful location and the views are truly stunning from the kitchen balcony.

The standard of the refurbishment that has been undertaken on the property is excellent with particular praise due for the lighting design, particularly in the kitchen, living room and when approaching the front door in the dark. The living room is wonderful expansive space with vaulted ceiling and the illuminated fire surround is a lovely touch. There are really few things to criticise other than the fact that the towel rail in the master bedroom attached bathroom did not seem to become hot and at any time of the year, even in the hot weather that we enjoyed, having to reuse a damp towel is not ideal. I might also suggest the provision of one softer pillow as both pillows in the master bedroom seemed rather firm. That aside, Haystacks 'ticks' all the main boxes and will not disappoint anyone who books a stay there.

Lovely and clean, well equipped. Extremely comfortable bed! Not sure why some people seem to have a problem with the parking, easy enough to get to both - and closer to the front door than we thought it might be.

Excellent Christmas week in one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in.

Great amenities (thanks to the owners for supplementing utensils for our Christmas dinner!). Very cosy - can’t understand complaints about temperature - and lovely log burner (found a farm locally selling kiln dried logs). Fabulous views and walks when the rain stopped! Equally can’t understand people complaining about the parking?! It was just fine. May well book again for a summer vacation. Couldn’t fault a thing.

I’m in the lakes most weekends hiking and haystacks is perfect t for me, very warm cosy and stylish it has everything you could want, I’ve heard people mention parking issues but there aren’t any of those either, the only complaint I had was the weather for my stay but that can’t be helped.

I’ve booked to come back already and can’t wait it really did feel like home and certainly relaxed me .

Best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.

Idyllic location with fabulous views, spotlessly clean and everything top quality, kitchen extremely well equipped. We loved our stay there and owner provided very clear parking instructions. No difficulties arriving in daylight but can imagine it’s trickier arriving in the dark. Definitely hope to return.

Haystacks is a high quality appointment with stunning views.

As two couples we were vey happy with the accommodation and location. There are two pubs within walking distance, the Mortal Man - although in need of a bit of a refurb serves really good food with a range of local beers. This can be reached on foot within 4 minutes so very local. The Queen's Head which is more contemporary also has a good range of beers although we didn't eat there. The Old Post Office which is a 10 - 15 minute walk is worth a visit too if you fancy a coffee. Access to Windermere is straight forward allowing a trip on a steamer and the local heritage railway should you wish both of which are to be recommended. In terms of the two car parking spaces, we had no issues accessing them. Overall a lovely property in an idyllic location.

Haystacks is a beautiful property, even more stunning than the photos would lead you to believe and the view down to lake Windermere from the balconies has to be seen to be believed.

The property is very well equipped with lots of character and charm. The beds are extremely comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean, we’ll definitely be back.

Lovely cottage set in a lovely location.

Directions a little bit hit and miss but we found it. We found the cottage very clean and comfortable. There was a small problem with the hot water but this was explained to us and easily rectified. Trout beck is a great location for exploring the Lake District. Would definitely stay again.
