Hollins Farm Barn

We had a lovely relaxed holiday at the Hollins Farm Barn.

Our hosts, Julie & Graham couldnt have been more helpful, and provided lots of info about the local shops, restaurants, amenities, including walks. The accommodation is comfotable, and well equipped if guests want to prepare there own meals.

This was the perfect stay!

The cottage is gorgeous, well fitted out and super comfortable. The hosts were super helpful and friendly! We will be back:)

What a lovely little barn conversion, tastefully modernised to give a warm feeling all round.

The owners Julie and Graham were lovely and really helpful and full of local knowledge, location was perfect for a little hideaway when preferred and very well positioned for travelling by train or car (we went by train for the day to Edinburgh - perfect). The station pub and hotel down the road was amazing for food and friendliness. Wouldn't hesitate to book this again

Hollins Farm Barn is an absolute credit to the lovely owners Julie and Graham.

We were met by Graham on arrival who showed us around the barn and was very informative as to the best places to visit. The barn was very clean and had everything you need for a lovely comfortable and homely stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils and cooking equipment you need. The setting is beautiful, peaceful surrounded by sheep and cows with the occasional visit in the garden from Tubbs the resident ginger cat, who is very friendly. We had the best stay here and will certainly be returning next year. Thank you Julie and Graham for making our stay so special.

We appreciated the OS maps and information about the area they had which let us make the most of our short stay, and the house was a very comfortable base to come back to with a spacious living area and bedroom and well-equipped kitchen. Recommended!

The cottage was fab - well equipped, well located, very peaceful and quiet, helpful and friendly owners and the cleanest accommodation we’ve ever stayed in. We definitely hope to return next year.

New boiler oil smells were evident but didnt spoil our stay.

Great location to get around in the Lakes

Sorry for the delay in writing this review - once we returned home it was straight back into work and decorating (boo).

Hollins barn was absolutely lovely. We had everything we needed and it is in a lovely location. A short walk to the pub- nice food- and within driving distance to spectacular walks. Thank you to Graham and Julie for the very thoughtful wine and card left for Ian's 50th birthday. Our hosts were very friendly and always on hand of we needed anything. Although they were just next door, the barn is very private with lovely views. A very relaxing and enjoyable break. I would highly recommend this property.

Excellent “Home from Home” property everything you could need, hosts Julie and Graham were very welcoming and attentive.

Peaceful setting in easy reach of everything we wanted to explore, would highly recommend.

One of the best we have stayed in - located in a quiet part of the lakes but within easy reach of the north lakes and the Yorkshire Dales.

The cottage is comfy well equipped so peaceful and the owners were lovely always on hand but without being intrusive. Highly recommended and we would definitely return

A lovely cosy barn in a peaceful setting surrounded by countryside.

The owners, Julie and Graham, were so helpful and there were loads of information booklets etc to hand. The location is so handy for Kendal, literally a few minutes drive, but also for reaching attractions like Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top and Wordsworth's at Dove Cottage in Grasmere and, of course, the lakes and the scenery.

We absolutely loved it at the cottage.

The owner was there to greet us and gave us a tour of the property and explained a few things. Plenty of information folders about the area and local amenities, of which we used a few! Only drawback we could see that there was no washing machine, which may prove useful if you do a lot of walking, otherwise outstanding!

We had a very warm welcome from the property owners when we arrived giving us details of nearby walks and train station.

Perfectly situated for an ideal getaway it was perfect for what we needed. The cottage was very clean & cozy and everything we needed. We would definitely recommend

even though we had rain it did not stop us touring the lakes,kendal beautiful town even went to see postman's pats cottage up the end of the town of kendal: other places not far away to visit,beautrix potter world is a must then cross the ferry to Hill top House (beatrix potters home farm)Gretna green an hours drive,must visit people randomly getting married while we visited the blacksmiths shop,also Blackpool not far off a drive, was a lovely restbite break thankyou for letting us stay at your beautiful cottage

the owners are excellent hosts, would recommend this cottage to anyone. the 1 draw back (being picky) the track to the cottage could benefit from some attention, but not enough to put you off your stay

Hollins Farm Barn was just beautiful, it has been lovingly converted into a very comfortable holiday property.

It was so peaceful, the views were amazing & we loved watching the numerous birds, the Swallows were all gathering on the electricity wires ready to start their migration. The owners were very friendly & welcoming, the barn is a true credit to them.

It’s very peaceful and quiet. Julie and Graham were very friendly and gave us a lot of information based on what we said we were interested in. Julie went over and above the usual excellent standard of a 5 star rview. Graham also gave us alot of interesting information about the area. We have no hesitation in giving 5/5 stars.

We loved our week at Hollins Farm the accommodation was exactly as described, so comfortable and clean.

The surrounding area is really beautiful and we had some amazing days out in the lakes. Would love to visit again.

There were beautiful views from all the windows. It was well appointed and really comfortable. It was good to come back to after rainy days. Ample area to dry clothes. An excellent welcome from friendly hosts. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We LOVED our stay at the Hollins barn.

Out of our 2 week stay in 5 different locations, this was our absolute favorite. The property is stunning and peaceful - exactly as shown in the pictures. There is everything you need in the home, a full kitchen, full bathroom, living space, food recommendations, great Wi-Fi and more. If you're looking to hike in the area, there is also maps and trail recommendations. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming right away. They were always quick to communicate and provide their personal suggestions and recommendations. The home is close to multiple parks and town at the same time. We were sad to leave the Hollins Barn. We would recommend this home and hope to stay again!

A magnificent barn with everything you need for a comfortable holiday.

Hosts were extremely helpful (although not really needed) and the location was ideal for visiting the lakes and fells. We will undoubtedly return.

A rough track to a lovely property.

Parking is ok once you get the hang of it. Cycle store was warm and dry. House was well appointed with views from every window. The owners were very helpful but unobtrusive. Good walking and cycling from the door. Kendal is not far away with the Brewery Arts Centre and cinemas, museum, pubs and restaurants. There's a bus or train from Oxenholme. Pub at Oxenholme (walk?) or Abbey Green (drive).

Absolutely adored Hollins Farm Barn!

It was so peaceful and quiet during our stay, and the location is perfect for so many nearby walks and attractions. Even the short trip up the road to The Helm was a delight. The accommodation was so cosy, with everything we needed (and more) at our disposal. The owners were incredibly friendly, and I loved that they greeted us on arrival as it gave that extra personal touch to our visit. One of the best holidays I've had in a long time, even with the temperamental weather, and cannot praise the barn enough!

The facilities, cleanliness & comfort of the barn couldn’t be bettered. Helpful owners too to greet us and say goodbye to. Lovely little touches all around in terms of useful information, cleaning products and little extras such as hairdryer, tissues and tea/coffee were all appreciated.

Well stocked, had everything we needed. Wonderful, comfortable furniture and bed to rest on after long walks in gorgeous countryside. Friendly, approachable owners who left you to your holiday but always felt close if you needed anything

A very comfortable and lovely stay.

The hosts were very accommodating and very knowledgeable about the area. They had fantastic ideas in where we could go for walks and those walks really made our stay. The cottage itself is fantastic and a real gem, roomy yet cosy. We really were able to relax here. Nothing was an issue for our hosts and they really went above and beyond. We will be definitely using them again when we return to the lakes.

This was a beautiful break.

The hosts Julie and Graham are lovely. It’s was nice to be welcomed, shown around and told where they were if you needed anything. We stayed when the weather was very bad but it was still a brilliant break. They had everything we needed there and it was a great size for the 3 of us. We had a 7 month old and wanted somewhere that felt homely and clean where we could relax and let little one be his noisy self.

In a lovely private spot, which feels out in the country, yet just a short drive to Kendal and other beautiful spots like Windermere. Extremely clean, well equipped and comfortable. We had a great time and the hosts are smashing. Would recommend!

Perfect location for the Lake District

A delightful experience.

Very spacious and well-equipped with countryside views from every room. Well away from hustle and bustle but with easy access to Windermere and the Lakes, and the Yorkshire Dales. Sizergh Castle (National Trust) and Sedbergh(for quiet country walks) are both a must-do.

The barn is excellent and well maintained by the owners.

It was spotlessly clean when we arrived, tastefully decorated and in a beautiful location.

Accommodation was exactly as listed and was very comfortable and peaceful!

A really lovely cottage, even better in person than we expected.

Fantastic location for travel and for local walks, and the owners were lovely and very helpful, with a lot of useful information given about the local area when we arrived. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage, and felt very secure in that all necessary precautions had been taken in regards to Covid-19.

It's very well equipped with lovely views. The location is perfect for trips to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage is a good size, it seems difficult to find cottages for couples that aren't cramped.

The cottage was located down a track, which the view from the front of the cottage was stunning!

We even had Roe deer coming around the cottage which were lovely to see. There were many little touches including fresh flowers on our arrival, lots of information was available in folders. Overall we would consider booking again, as the amenities are close to hand, and not far from Bowness and many other lovely places of interest. Thank you, Julie and Graham!!

Hollins Farm Barn was the perfect place to stay for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

The Lake District is all within a short driving distance as are parts of the Yorkshire Dales. It is easy to get to Windermere by train from Oxenholme station which is within walking distance of the cottage. We had a very nice stay here and would happily return.

Julie and Graham greeted us on arrival and showed us around the cottage.

The cottage was lovely and clean and well appointed. They had even gone to the trouble to put up a Christmas Tree and decorate the living space. Had a lovely week using the cottage as a base, even the mist on the lake cleared to let us have a cruise on Windermere. Will be coming back in the near future.

Had a wonderful short break at Hollins Farm Barn.

Julie and Graham were lovely, making us feel very welcome. They were unfailingly kind and helpful. The cottage ticked all our boxes although it was a very bumpy ride over a dirt track to get to the cottage itself. I was very impressed with the well-equipped kitchen which had an abundance of pots and pans, kitchen utensils, etc. Also impressed with the recycling crate as so many holiday lets fail to accommodate this. The bed was super comfy too. It was lovely to sit in the garden until late evening thanks to the good weather and take in the wonderful views. It's a short drive to the Station Inn pub where you can have exceptionally good pub grub in a friendly atmosphere. Oxenholme Station, from where you could travel to Windermere or further afield, even Edinburgh, is also a short car journey away and offers an alternative to driving.

Wonderful place to stay for both The Lake District and The Dales.

Being on the first floor gives great views and the cows and sheep close by just adds to the really rural feel (including one early morning bleating alarm clock!). Access is via a farm track over a cattle grid which is OK as long as your car has good ground clearance - our Ford Focus was fine.

Couldn't have asked for more. Julie and Graham were wonderful hosts and the cottage/dream home exceeded expectations. Would definitely recommend
