An excellent property.

It was prepared to a high standard, very clean and cosy. It was obvious the amount of care and preparation that had gone on prior to our visit. The kitchen had every item available for preparing meals. Our hosts made us most welcome to ensure that we had everything we needed. Although it was the winter season the property was very warm with loads of hot water for showering. An excellent dishwasher was available and WiFi was good. Underfloor heating on the ground floor was much appreciated. Overall an excellent stay and I would thoroughly recommend this property. Thank you to our hosts for a comfortable stay.

Sign posted well on arrival. Owner very welcoming. Very well presented and well equipped. Comfortable and cosy. We had a lovely relaxing week. Thank you and we are looking forward to returning next year.

Amazing place.

Had everything we needed and the standard of the property was excellent. Views were stunning and the direct surroundings of the barn were beautiful. Lots of space for the kids to run around and play and some lovely areas to just sit and relax. Hosts Steve and Mike were brilliant. Warm, welcoming, lovely people. We will be returning!

We had the most relaxing time ever at Pickle Barn.

The Hosts are fabulous, really friendly and welcoming and make you feel like you've known them for years! The Barn is a beautiful building inside and out and the location is dreamy. You can just sit and relax and soak in the views. All the facilities were great. The cooker was in absolute pristine condition! Location was also fab for a walk to the nearby crags (a bit of a quick uphill but well worth the views) and lovely Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton and Country Harvest just along the road. Thank you for the lovely lemon drizzle cake! We look forward to returning one day.

Pickle Barn is an amazing property, a little treasure tucked away surrounded by breathtaking views.

Our hosts were amazing and greeted us on arrival, nothing was too much trouble. The property was clean , warm and cosy, equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It’s within easy reach to explore local attractions and beyond. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and will definitely be returning. The cake from their local business was delicious

Our family of 4 (2 adults, one teenager and a 11 year old) stayed in February for a week at Pickle Barn and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Firstly, the location is incredibly peaceful, quiet and feels like you've truly gotten away from everything which helps massively in relaxing and enjoying a proper holiday. However, you're only 20-30 minutes drive from both Kendal and Lancaster with everything you might need in terms of shopping for supplies. It is easy to get into the Lake District with Windermere around 30 minutes drive, and about an hour to get further north to Keswick or Grasmere. The coast at Arnside is only about 20 minutes as well so plenty of options! The property is cosy and wonderfully equipped (particularly enjoyed having a kitchen stocked with good quality cookware as we tend to cook for ourselves most of the time when we are away), the flipped bedrooms are a nice touch for being able to enjoy the view with a cup of tea in the morning as the sun rises, and the open plan means you can all still chat and hang out while making food. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and made themselves readily available in case of any issues (of which we had none!) and we are definitely considering a return visit in future - potentially in warmer weather so we can take advantage of the garden and use the barbeque!

Well placed for walking in Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. 15 mins away from RSPB Leyton Moss. Friendly owners and v comfortable cottage. Will def stay again.

We had a wonderful week walking along parts of the river Lune and despite being unseasonal weather we saw beautiful countryside and lots of bluebells. We loved staying at the barn and hope to visit there again.

Owners friendly and helpful.

Great location well equipped wanted for nothing. Comfortable and clean. Visited lots of places a good base for the lakes and the dales. Loved Kirkby Lonsdale and Devils bridge with the river Lune. The Waterfalls at Ingelsden well worth a visit. As is the Country Harvest farm shop there. Ate out at The highwayman, Pheasant and the Plough good food would recommend these for a visit.

An absolute gem of a cottage hidden away in lovely countryside.

Pickle barn was beautifully furnished and decorated with central and under floor heating making our stay very cozy especially during storms Isha & Jocelyn. The hosts Steve & Mike were most warming and welcoming, nothing was a problem for them. Definitely will be returning in the future.

Everything tickety boo and despite the sub zero temperatures outside, the barn was warm and comfortable. Special thanks to Steve and Mike who are so helpful and great hosts. I intend to join the many who make repeat bookings. During my week, the sunrise view towards Ingleborough was out of this world. 5 Star.

The accommodation is one of the best we’ve been to, hence it was our second visit. Charming hosts who ensure that you’re made welcome and comfortable. The property itself is spacious, cosy and well appointed. The views from living room, kitchen/dining area are superb. Situated within short driving distance of many lovely places to visit. Very quiet, nice walks, fantastic views. Ideal for days out. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Very nice people. Nothing was too much trouble. Already thinking of a return. For two nights the bedroom we had was cold due to weather conditions, but apart from that, brilliant accommodation which was faultless. Many thanks.

The place was wonderful, the location was great with the Dales on one side and the Lakes on the other and beautiful walks from the door.

The accommodation was excellent, the best we have stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few !), well equipped, very clean, with beautiful views and in such a tranquil spot. The icing on the cake was the delightful owners who were so welcoming and informative but never intrusive, when we left we felt as if we were saying goodbye to friends. We've never stayed at the same place twice but I think this will be the exception to the rule.

We had a great time at Pickle Barn, Steve the proprietor was there upon our arrival to explain the general running of the place.

Pickle Barn is a gem of a barn conversion open plan upstairs with the bedrooms below. It is perfectly equipped and very warm and comfortable and very clean. It is placed about 10 mins drive from the town of Kirkby Lonsdale. The scenery around is fantastic we took full advantage of the inclement weather to do an extensive tour of the Dales and found super pubs in very small villages for great lunches and even a train trip on the fantastic Settle to Carlisle line. All in all, we had a great time at Pickle Barn.

The Pickle Barn is a wonderful place to stay.

The house is very nicely set-up, clean and welcoming and the location is extraordinary. The view from the kitchen french doors was a heart stoppingly beautiful panorama of fields and stone walls, there were sheep and cows grazing on the green grass and it was wonderfully rural but not isolated. The very nice owners are right on site and the pretty town of Kirkby Lonsdale is an easy drive with an excellent grocery store and a charming high street. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Super cottage, wonderful views - so peaceful and quiet.

Plenty of room within the cottage and lovely garden & seating area outside. Kitchen well stocked with cooking utensils/pans etc and really good showers (always important). Brilliant location with loads of things to do, good farm shops nearby (loved Country Harvest) - and we even had wonderful weather for the week. We were warmly greeted on the first day by Steve and throughout our stay we enjoyed chatting to both owners Steve & Mike - welcoming and friendly it made us feel so comfortable. We didn't want to leave

Everything you need at the cottage and more.

Beautiful views and gardens. Good walks and the lovely village of Kirkby Lonsdale nearby. Easy access to the Lake District too.

Lovely place to stay.

Quiet with great views. The upside down configuration was ideal for the roasting temperatures at the beginning of the week. The bedroom stayed a very comfortable temperature. Some great walks from and close to the property. The approach roads made driving interesting on occasions testing my reversing skills a few times.

The cleanliness was immaculate and the cottage had everything we needed. The quietness of the location was heavenly and we really couldn’t have asked for any more. On top of everything else the owners are very welcoming, accommodating and extremely funny! Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

This was our second visit to Pickle Barn ( after 10 years !

Not much had changed) and about our 15th visit to the area. It would be very hard to find a better located cottage than Pickle Barn - or one with more genial hosts.

The barn is ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing break with views of the Pennines, Howgills and Lake District fells.

From my experience of holiday cottages over decades, I can honestly say that this one has to be one of the best for comfort.

I walked extensively every day, all but once from the door and this kept me going especially on two occasions during the week when the weather turned very wet, knowing the cottage would be warm with plentiful hot water for a recuperative bath or shower on my return. There are wonderful views from the upstairs living accommodation, the open plan arrangement creating a really spacious feel.The owners are so welcoming and friendly, from the onset I felt at home and at ease. It was certainly a memorable week, thank you very much.

Quite remote. Great facilities. Gorgeous scenery

The property is very well maintained and comfortably appointed.

The 'upside down' arrangement (bedrooms downstairs) provides a fine outlook from the lounge and kitchen. The location offers excellent views of the surrounding countryside but the approach to the property from the main roads is along a series of very narrow, winding lanes with high hedges affording poor visibility. It's a slow process. There's not much the owners can do about that but, be aware!

Views to not want move away from the window for and brilliant hosts.

We cannot fault the accommodation, the welcome, the price or the owners who could not have been more helpful.

The only difficulty we had was in the booking process, where one payment was made to owners direct (a 'commission' payment I believe) and another to Sykes. This caused some confusion and necessitated a phone call to Sykes. This part could have been made clearer at the booking stage to prevent confusion and extra time/admin on both our side and Sykes'! Overall, a wonderful, relaxing holiday in a cosy, very well equipped cottage.

A genuine, friendly welcome on our arrival. Beautiful surroundings and Kirkby Lonsdale was a great place to explore & dine. Be aware: the surrounding roads are very narrow with pacing places.
