    “The barn is lovely and the owners are helpful and welcoming.”

    We had a wonderful week walking along parts of the river Lune and despite being unseasonal weather we saw beautiful countryside and lots of bluebells. We loved staying at the barn and hope to visit there again.

Perfectly positioned to enjoy some of the finest limestone scenery in the country, this reverse-storey holiday let makes for a lovely base for a family of four's getaway. Two off-road parking spaces greet you on arrival, so you can unpack, settle in and get your break started with ease! Continue inside and upstairs to uncover the open-plan living space, where exposed beams give the space a charming touch, and Juliet balconies offer stunning views over the surrounding countryside and garden. Make your way over to the to the well-equipped kitchen, where all you need to create culinary delights can be discovered, alongside a handy washing machine and dishwasher! When dinner is ready, tuck into it at the dining table and take in those elevated views from the French doors; alternatively, take your meal outside to enjoy it amongst your peaceful surroundings of the grounds. After dinner, head to the sitting area, where sumptuous seating entices you to unwind as you enjoy a family-favourite DVD or play a board game together. As the day winds to a close, choose between one of the inviting ground-floor bedrooms to catch your rest in, the first of which is a double benefiting from an en-suite shower room, and the other comprising twin beds and access to an en-suite bathroom. Hutton Roof, with its variety of annual fairs and activities is within easy reach, whilst Hutton Roof Crags Nature Reserve is nearby providing some of the best examples of limestone paving in Britain. With plenty of great walking and cycling opportunities available throughout the surrounding area and both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks close by, this great location has plenty to offer at any time of year.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
