Horncop Nook

A comfortable stay in good accommodation with a lot of thoughtful touches.

Useful off street parking and good access by foot to all the amenities of central Kendal. Like another guest we were baffled by the location of the cutlery drawer.

We stayed at Horncop nook last year for the first time and thought it was fabulous, and this year we thought it even better.

So we have booked to return next year.

Lovely cottage, clean and comfortable with everything needed for the perfect stay.

Genius use of space and light. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, really thoughtful goodies. Good position for exploring the area and great to have parking so near to the town. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Horncop Nook is a very comfortable and surprisingly spacious holiday home.

Like all the guests before us, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon. The bed was very comfortable; the kitchen had everything we needed, and having a parking space so close to the centre was a real bonus. Also very quiet at night. Thoroughly recommend.

This is a beautiful cottage with all modern appliances, we wanted for nothing.

Very clean and we had a lovely welcome basket. Some lovely walks locally, walk down to the river and if you turn left there is a beautiful nature reserve walk or turn right for a pleasant riverside walk into town. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we hope to visit again in the future

Lovely studio apartment,very convenient for Kendal and visiting al our family and friends in the Lake District.

A short walk to Kendal town centre but quiet enough to be on the outskirts. Thank you for the lovely extras.

We stayed here for New Year and loved every minute of it.

We looked to extend the stay by a night but it wasn't available :-(. Dawn the owner is amazing, so helpful. We had lovely welcome goodies. Horncop Nook has everything you need and more. It's only a 10 minute walk into town or less if you go to the local pub, The New Union which has a fantastic range of Belgium beers and a lovely warm log fire. I'd definitely recommend a stay here.

Best holiday holiday let we have ever stayed in .

Cosy, well equipped and decorated . It is a stunning property and it is clearly kept to the highest standard. Its in a great location with a ten minute riverside walk into the town centre.

This was my second visit and again I had a wonderful time.

Still had slight problem with very posh cooker, but turned out very good for the diet!! Wonderful accommodation, slept very well, very happy

bathroom sink is one of the compact sized, too small for us wet shavers to have a good shave.

I would suggest a larger sink but I think the bathroom door is a limiting factor

Easy commuting to all the lovely scenic places of the Lake District. Very friendly people wherever we went - only too pleased to assist us. A grab rail in the corner of the shower would be appreciated to aid someone like my wife who has walking/ balancing issues.

Fabulous accommodation in Kendal.

Lovely quiet location yet only a 10 minute walk to town. Kitchen very well equipped, lovely large shower cubicle. Ideal for the two of us. Very happy to recommend.

What an absolute gem of a holiday home, we loved everything about it, so clean and well equipped.

An excellent location with off road parking, owners are on hand if needed but everything has been thought of in this little gem. Would recommend 100% and would love to return

Most conveniently placed holiday cottage especially as we travelled by train.

Buses at the end of the road with access to Windermere and the rest of the Lake District plus the bus station less than 15 minutes away. Our second visit to Horncop Nook is perfect in every way for a couple….clean, comfortable and with great facilities.

We loved this place from the minute we arrived.

Beautifully furnished, decorated and presented. Scrupulously clean. Good quality towels, local soaps, original local artworks on the walls and a welcome pack of local products. The cottage is spacious and well designed with plenty of light and good heating. The kitchen is very well equipped for self-catering and it’s an easy 10 minute walk into town with cafes, pubs, restaurants and all kinds of shops plus rail and bus transport. There’s local information brochures at the cottage plus games for bad weather. Owners are nearby and readily accessible if you need anything. We’ve stayed in over thirty cottages in the last two years and this is one of the best. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my stay, the position was good, being able to walk everywhere, particularly as it is quite a difficult access for parking (although I appreciate having any parking!

). I found the induction hob a little challenging, thank goodness I hadn’t planned to cook a Xmas dinner! However i did enjoy the challenge! The nook is an excellent place to stay and I would recommend it

The cottage is extremely well equipped and a perfect home from home.

The location is 10 minute walk into town with good bars and restaurants close by. The bus station is 20 minutes walk for access to nearby Lakes attractions.

Second visit this year to Horncop Nook

Horncop Nook was like a home from home, everything required had been thought of by the owners plus the little extra"s.

We enjoyed the real comfort of the property with every facility at hand for a really peaceful stay, convienently situated on the edge of Kendal. The access to the Central Lake's by the Bus service made it a great location for exploring the area. We will with a second thought return again as it can only be described as exceptional.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Horncop Nook.

It is a very spacious and comfortable place to stay with cleverly defined areas throughout. Everything you need is there. The area it is in is quiet but still within walking distance to the centre of Kendal. We would certainly recommend it - thank you

Only problem we had was hanging space for clothes….would have liked a wardrobe.

Just got back from a lovely holiday at Horncop Nook.

The accommodation is spotless, comfortable and in a great location. Everything has been well thought out and nice little touches make it homely and add a touch of luxury. Owners were very helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a nice stress free break!

We really enjoyed our visit.

The cottage was small but very cosy and had everything you would need for a very enjoyable holiday. The only thing that I would have changed was the mattress on the bed. We kept rolling outward as the centre of the bed seemed to be higher up.

Horncop Nook was absolutely perfect for our stay.

Better than described, clean, comfortable, well equipped - a real home from home. Dawn the owner was really helpful and accommodating and we would have no hesitation in staying again and recommending to others. Only a short walk into Kendal and just over the road you are on open land for lovely walks with stunning views. Really well placed for daily trips into the Lake District. It was so lovely to come back to the property each afternoon, parking on the drive and relaxing. Never slept so well on holiday - the bed was super comfy!

Very convenient for visiting the Lake District and northern Lancashire. Close to excellent bus route north to Keswick and south to Lancaster.

Loved every bit of our stay.

The property was beautiful and had everything you needed. Perfect space for two. All the little touches by the owner made it even more special. The biscuit's and Kendal mint cake welcome gift and the little soaps and chocolate were so special. Also providing the tea coffee and chocolate made it feel like a hotel stay. The only thing that stopped it getting top marks for comfort was the mattress on the bed it was a bit uncomfortable but even that didn’t spoil our stay. It was perfect and the owners were helpful and friendly. Especially as we forgot some keys and they phoned us immediately so we could go back and get them. We will definitely book to stay again on our next visit to the lakes. Thank you Dawn and Simon, hopefully see you again soon.

In general we had a pleasant enough stay and the holiday accommodation was fit for purpose, although it was a bit smaller than I had realised from photo.

It could benefit from having a full length wardrobe. The sink in the toilet was rather small so a little challenging when washing a brushing your teeth although I realise space is limited with the door but possibly moving the cupboard onto the other wall would help? Possibly regrouting in the shower but this probably happens at the end of the season. The weather was not great the week we stayed so probably spent more time in the accommodation than we would normally when we visit the Lake District. The owners were very kind and left Kendal mint cake, biscuits, tea/coffee and fruit and this was appreciated. Thank you

Horncop Nook was clean and had all the necessities required for a relaxing break within easy reach of the town centre of Kendall and is ideally situated as a base to visit the Lake District.

Horncop Nook is a lovely little property.

It has everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. The location is perfect, only about 10mins away from the centre of Kendal and some great little eateries. The property is clean, comfy and has loads of great quirky storage areas. This was our second visit to Horncop Nook and we enjoyed every minute. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be going back.

Everything you need in horncop nook.

Very comfortable and extremely clean. We have visited for 3 times now as we love the cottage and location. Unfortunately we cannot stay anymore as we have a dog now and pets not allowed. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

It was a great location to walk into Kendal and to drive to other areas in the Lake District (most of the main places to see were a max. 45 minute drive). The nook was very clean & felt very homely. Thank you.

The Hornkop Nook has everything you need for a brilliant stay.

Everything was spotlessly clean, and there were lovely little touches, like the fresh eggs from the owners' chickens, biscuits, and even eco-friendly loo paper! It was conveniently placed for Kendal centre and close to many walks. We had to contact owner with a minor query and they were very helpful. We would stay there again.

Property was perfect, just what we needed.

The little touches like the nice teas and coffees, eggs, soaps, chocolate, Kendal mint cake and biscuits made us feel welcome and at home. Property is situated in an excellent location for exploring the Lakes. Only tiny issue was that the velux blinds were really hard to close.

Fabulous place to stay and a great base to explore the Lakes from.

It was cosy, warm and everything was well thought out, with a comfy bed, lovely shower room, great kitchen with everything you could need to self cater. The local town was literally a 10 minute walk away with coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. There was even a McDonalds if that’s your thing. The cottage Wi-Fi was perfectly good and TV/Radio as well as some books about the area. Not forgetting the nice little personal touches on arrival Kendal Mint Cake, Cookies, Fresh eggs, plenty of tea and coffee as well as some great quality toiletries and a chocolate added to the overall feel good factor. Would we stay here again-most definitely yes and we would have no hesitation on recommending this cottage to our friends and family. Thank you Dawn for your attention to detail and warm welcome on arrival.

It was easy to find and get parked up. We would definitely stay again, Horncop Nook had everything we needed to relax for a week and it was about a 10minute walk to the main eating/shopping area of Kendal. The property was clean, organised and we really appreciated the open plan design. Thought has been put into the decor and storage options where great for us.

Horncop Nook was a first class place to stay.

Only a 5 minute walk to the bustling centre of Kendal the property is fitted out to a high standard. We could not fault the property in any way as it satisfied all our needs, was spotlessly clean and had superb facilities. We have no hesitation whatsoever in giving a ‘5 star’ recommendation.

Delightful little hideaway just 10 minutes from the centre of Kendal.

The owner explained the easiest walking route which avoided hills. Best equipped kitchen we have ever found in a holiday let. Lovely hosts. Comfortable bed . Couldn’t be better.

Just perfect for us met the owners had a chat but we just needed a break and rest which we got thanks to everyone ☺️

We had a wonderful stay at Horncop.

Very well equipped and so comfy and cozy. Lots of nice homely touches too. The property is well placed to get into the National Park as well as walk into town for the evening. Many thanks for a wonderful 60th Birthday weekend.

Horncop Nook is a delightful holiday cottage and is appointed to a very high standard.

The kitchen equipment was the best we have ever experienced in a self-catering home. The location is within easy walking distance to Kendal and the nearby Kendal Green. Highly recommended!

What a very clever modernisation of an outbuilding.

The place was brilliantly decorated, with excellent facilities, an impressive kitchen and shower, and one of the most comfortable beds we've slept in. Most impressed. The little touches of locally produced soaps, coffee, eggs etc were most welcome Kendal is well placed to stay, as most of the popular towns are very busy, but only a short drive (or excellent bus) away. The town itself is an interesting place to visit in its own right. Would definitely return again.
