Leisure Cottage

Our 2nd visit within 2 years to Leisure Cottage and it still impresses.

Traditional country cottage, plenty of space including parking and private garden. Village itself is friendly and welcoming with many independent shops on the high street. Walks from the doorstep so that your car actually never needs to move until you sadly say goodbye. Owner answers texts if needed. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Leisure Cottage in Kirkby Stephen is one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in!

It has all the amenities you could wish for, is comfortable, clean and well appointed. The cottage has the feel of more than just a rental, it is very homey and cosy. Leisure Cottage also has one of the best showers we have experienced, ever! The beds and couches are comfy, and the Cottage provides a baby gate for the bottom of the stairs, which is good for kids, obviously, but in our case, excellent for ensuring nosey pooches did not venture upstairs. The kitchen has two doors, which can be closed to keep dogs secure overnight. The cottage has a good sized family bathroom upstairs, and a handy downstairs loo. It has off road parking and a lovely raised patio for enjoying sunny afternoons. We had interaction with the cottage owners concerning dog arrangements, and they were extremely helpful, kind and flexible. It was a pleasure to have contact with them. The cottage is just round the corner from Frank's Bridge and therefore many lovely walks. It is a two minute walk from the village centre. There are a number of bars, pubs and cafes, also takeaways and a large Coop and One Stop shop. There is a great deal to do in the area. We were very impressed with how friendly and welcoming the locals of Kirkby Stephen were. It is a lovely town. We will definitely book again! To be revommended.

Leisure Cottage is a lovely cottage in the middle of Kirkby Stephen.

Just a short walk to all the shops etc. A lovely comfortable cottage but the shower was a bit of a nightmare. Kept cutting out and changing temperature but that was the only downside for us. I could quite happily live there and would highly recommend it.

This cottage is well accommodated with all you need.

The walk into town is up hill or bypass this to walk out of town ,and come back on yourself. Best place to eat, and drink is the Taggy Man.

We had a wonderful stay at Leisure Cottage.

It was well equipped and clean. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms well appointed. There were lots of lovely walks on the doorstep and the town offers plenty of useful amenities. The owners were responsive and helpful. We would definitely return.

Beautiful cottage with a lovely secure garden, great to have parking as well.

Leisure cottage is really warm and spacious, we loved the hard floors in the hall, cloakroom and kitchen , no issues with muddy boots. The position of the cottage is brilliant, just a 2 minute walk has you in town, with lots of pubs,cafes and independent shops but most Important for us was it's literally a minutes walk to Franks bridge and the coast to coast path. There are so many circular routes to walk in absolutely stunning scenery criss crossing the River Eden We had an amazing time and would highly recommend Leisure Cottage

A lovely stay in the cottage, the location is amazing.

A short walk to a beautiful river and right by the high street. It’s so peaceful and quiet and you can hear the birds in the morning! I can’t wait to go back.

Excellent cottage in an excellent part of the country.

Would love to return in the future. Internet poor but didn't bother us (mainly the rural location I believe) Property owner quick to reply when messaging (again nothing major!) All in all would recommend the cottage for every aspect. Position, views, facilities, outside space, cosiness, walks, friendly neighbourhood, great, quirky high street. Loved it!

Leisure Cottage is a perfect cottage for a relaxed stay in beautiful surroundings.

Everything is provided for whatever you might need. The area offers so many beautiful walks. The owners were extremely helpful and went out of their way to return something that we left behind. We will definitely be back.

A lovely house in a delightful setting close to the river, with shops and a good choice of eating out places in easy reach.

This is a splendid cottage and in a tranquil location in the lovely Market Town of Kirkby Stephen.

It is a very short stroll to the town’s shops, pubs and church, and an even shorter stroll to the River Eden and the start of many walks over the fells. The cottage is very comfortable and had everything that we needed to make our stay most enjoyable, and it has been renovated to a high standard and is clearly loved by the owners. I was born in Kirkby Stephen and it was a great pleasure to come back for a holiday and to stay in such a lovely cottage as this made our stay absolutely perfect. Thank you. Garry Handley OBE

Perfect base for exploring the Eden Valley and the Howgills.

A stones throw from the high Street and the countryside. Really comfortable cottage. Highly recommended.

Well equipped, comfortable cottage in convenient location in Kirkby Stephen.

Both bedrooms are well sized with king sized beds (and an extra single in one of them) so particularly good for two couples. Great to have off street parking and outdoor seating. Lots of options for walking in the area or just a short drive away.

In a very quite location, but only 2 mins walk from the town. Bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. Good WiFi and TV. We cycled there and the hosts were happy for us to use their shed for storage, but we just popped our bikes round the back of the garden. Would definitely use this cottage again!!

A really fantastic break in this lovely, well maintained, cottage.

Very peaceful but within wreach of riverside walks and walking distance to the centre of Kirkby Stephen. Beds were very comfortable and the cottage was lovely and warm. The television had all all the channels you would want and was a good size for the room. WiFi signal was very good. We visited The Taggy Man for lunch which was very good with nice, attentive staff. We also attended the quiz night on Tuesday at 7 pm and it was excellent with sausage butties at half time - all for just £1.50 each (dog friendly - very). Finally we have to mention The White Hare cafe. Fabulous breakfast, great friendly staff and very good prices We enjoyed our stay here so much we have booked to come back in March 2024. Thanks again for this experience.
