The property

Ideally located in the heart of the Lake District is Riven Oak, a wonderful barn conversion resting in the Lyth Valley, surrounded by beautiful countryside and within reach of plenty of attractions.

Bring your loved ones together on a holiday to remember to Riven Oak, with this stone cottage sleeping up to eight guests in four bedrooms, featuring character and charm throughout.

Spend time after a fun-filled day within the lofy, timber framed open-plan living space on the first-floor, seeking a relaxing spot on one of the large plush sofas to watch the TV, or settling on a stool at the breakfast bar to oversee the cooking with a glass of wine, it's a wonderfully social space.

Explore the ruins of Kendal Castle, take a turn around the Lakeland Museum or the Quaker Tapestry Museum, and head to Abbot Hall to admire fine art within a renovated Georgian Manor.

Back at Riven Oak, embark on a walk up the wondrous Whitbarrow Scar right from your doorstep to experience stunning views of the landscape, or venture further out toward Lake Windermere to Gummer’s How, or to the north of the lake at Wansfell Pike, there’s plenty to choose from.

Levens is a small traditional Cumbrian village set on a high promontory in beautiful countryside and ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The village has a lovely old church, general store/newsagent and a pub. With excellent views of the southern fells across the Lyth Valley and the River Kent which flows below the village, Levens consists of a huddle of fine, stone-built traditional houses, cottages and barn conversions surrounded by unspoilt countryside, with varied flora and fauna and a nature reserve providing beautiful walking country. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, with its superb topiary garden, are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Nearby Kendal is ideally placed for exploring South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and beyond.
