    “Generally a really good stay!”

    We stayed for 4 nights over Christmas. The hot tub was great, and enjoyed the space of the lodge. We did struggle with getting the temperature right in the lodge, often ended up too hot/too cold. We had a very frequent visitor - one of the farm cats. Which was great initially, until she was meowing at the door for several hours and would sneak in quickly if you open the door without checking she was there. Although she was very cute, just got a bit much. Our hot tub went cloudy on night 3/4 ...

Which was great initially, until she was meowing at the door for several hours and would sneak in quickly if you open the door without checking she was there. Although she was very cute, just got a bit much. Our hot tub went cloudy on night 3/4 which we thought was odd and hoped would be fixed when routinely checked the next morning but it wasn’t. A minor good addition would have been coat and robe hooks. There was literally nowhere to hang coats except in the wardrobe. But, it was the best lodge stay we’ve ever done. Very good for privacy and a nice view too.

We appreciate you mentioning the temperature in the lodge and the hot tub becoming cloudy, and we'll certainly look into this to make sure everything is working as it should. As for our friendly farm cat, she does like to make herself known to guests! We're sorry if she became a little persistent during your stay. A wonderful cosy, compact and romantic lodge situated in a beautiful, secluded location in the hamlet of Pennington, three miles from the ancient market town of Ulverston.

Ash Lodge offers a delightful semi-rural location and provides a romantic retreat for couples who want to spend some quality time together, exploring this beautiful part of Cumbria.

Set all on the ground floor this open plan lodge includes a compact kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

There is a comfortable and cosy double bedroom which also has a TV and an en-suite shower room.

The private hot tub is ideal for relaxing in after a busy day exploring the area, and the perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing drink whilst admiring the countryside views.

The Cumbrian Way and plenty of footpaths run close by, making this an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Ulverston, just over 3 miles away, features many pubs and restaurants, whilst the sandy beaches of the Furness Coast are also close at hand.

This lodge is perfect for exploring the beautiful Lake District National Park, which is less than a 30 minute drive away and where you will find famous lakes and breathtaking countryside surrounded by mountains.

Ewe Dale Barn Cottages

A group of traditional South Lakeland stone cottages, nestled in a peaceful position within the quaint Hamlet of Pennington. Surrounded by beautiful reservoirs and incredible 360-views of the encompassing scenery of the Lake District National Park, this cluster of cottages is perfect for a large group getaway, whether travelling as a family or friends seeking an action-packed adventure in this stupendous part of the country. The neighbouring town of Ulverston can be found just a few miles away, offering an abundance of amenities including a handful of pubs, extensive selection of cafés and restaurants, and a well-established convenience store selling all the essential household items. There's much fun to be had in the area with attractions such as the Water Park Lakeland Adventure Centre and the National-Trust-owned Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve right on your doorstep, as well as many spectacular hiking routes including Mill Beck Abbey Walk, Birkrigg Common and Grizedale. Bowness-on-Windermere, Kendall and Cartmel lie within easy touring distance, with The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Cartmell Fell and 14th-century remains of Sizergh Castle offering fantastic days out for the whole family to enjoy. PENNINGTON

Ulverston 3 miles; Coniston 11 miles.

Pennington is a small hamlet with a scattering of dwellings, farms and country pubs, situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, an area of tranquillity, gentle hills and unspoilt walking country. Locally, the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths can be located, and the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn are renowned locally for their fine ales and good food. Pennington's nearby neighbour, Ulverston, is an ancient market town that still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today, the town is well known as a “Festival Town”, with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include Furness Abbey, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Conishead Priory, Holker Hall and Muncaster Castle.
