    “Really lovely property and as described.”

    We met up for a reunion after travelling and had a lovely weekend. Firstly the hot water tap is extremely hot. I scalded my hand on the kitchen taps but the showers and other sinks are the same. There is no 'caution hot water' sign stated anywhere so I think this is something that needs to be added, especially if there are children around. I feel our experience was tainted by the attitude from one of the hosts. After having problems with the jets on the hot tub (they only worked for approx 10 ...

After having problems with the jets on the hot tub (they only worked for approx 10 mins and then turned off) I texted the host for support. After not receiving a reply I sent a prompt text to which I got a response of 'what'. He then shortly came up to the property and then proceeded to actually shout at me after he pressed the jet button and aggressively said 'is it working or is it not?'. He was extremely rude when questioned and did not help us at all to fix the issue. We have all spent our hard earned money on this property and expect everything to be in working order and be treated with respect from the hosts just like we treated their property with respect. Not impressed with the service provided.

The property

A stunning, stone-built, semi-detached barn conversion, in a beautiful, secluded location in the hamlet of Pennington, three miles from the ancient market town of Ulverston.

Fully renovated and lovingly restored, this Pennington cottage offers first class accommodation; the spacious, open-plan first floor living area features a beautiful kitchen with central island, a dining area and a sitting area with woodburner, as well as exposed beams and doors to the patio and garden.

Guests have the added advantage of exclusive use of the inviting outdoor hot tub, ideal for relaxing after a day's touring or hiking.

There is excellent walking and cycling, with the Cumbria Way and several pretty paths close by.

Enjoy one of the many festivals of nearby Ulverston, or discover the sandy beaches of the Furness coast or the water sports of Coniston.

Ewe Dale Barn Cottages

A group of traditional South Lakeland stone cottages, nestled in a peaceful position within the quaint Hamlet of Pennington. Surrounded by beautiful reservoirs and incredible 360-views of the encompassing scenery of the Lake District National Park, this cluster of cottages is perfect for a large group getaway, whether travelling as a family or friends seeking an action-packed adventure in this stupendous part of the country. The neighbouring town of Ulverston can be found just a few miles away, offering an abundance of amenities including a handful of pubs, extensive selection of cafés and restaurants, and a well-established convenience store selling all the essential household items. There's much fun to be had in the area with attractions such as the Water Park Lakeland Adventure Centre and the National-Trust-owned Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve right on your doorstep, as well as many spectacular hiking routes including Mill Beck Abbey Walk, Birkrigg Common and Grizedale. Bowness-on-Windermere, Kendall and Cartmel lie within easy touring distance, with The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Cartmell Fell and 14th-century remains of Sizergh Castle offering fantastic days out for the whole family to enjoy. Climb the heights of Black Fell, Scafell Pike and Swirl How, or see Ambleside Roman Fort and the National-Trust-owned Wray Castle, to learn of the Lake Districts rich history. PENNINGTON

Ulverston 3 miles; Coniston 11 miles.

Pennington is a small hamlet with a scattering of dwellings, farms and country pubs, situated on the beautiful Lake District Peninsula, an area of tranquillity, gentle hills and unspoilt walking country. Locally, the start of the Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths can be located, and the twin pubs at Great Urswick Tarn are renowned locally for their fine ales and good food. Pennington's nearby neighbour, Ulverston, is an ancient market town that still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today, the town is well known as a “Festival Town”, with events throughout the year, and as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include Furness Abbey, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Conishead Priory, Holker Hall and Muncaster Castle.
