The accommodation was splendid.

It is very clean and comfortable on the first-floor of a larger residence (don't worry, you can't hear the people on the ground floor). The living space is big and offers a nice dining area by the bay window where one can look out upon wildlife in the front drive and garden including birds, butterflies, and bunnies! We couldn't find any coasters and were worried about leaving stains on surfaces so we used one of the wood place mats instead. We chose the bedroom without the skylight and it was very comfortable with lots of wardrobe space. The kitchen is small but contains everything you need and can fit two people doing different tasks. The owners also left us a lovely welcome pack of cake, cookies, hot beverage sachets, together with a pint of milk in the fridge. The bath-shower is excellent and helped relax after a long day's walking, and the heated towel rail helped heat the room as the cooler September weather kicked in in the evenings and early mornings; it did feel a bit cold to begin with, in the living space and bedroom, but the heating can be turned on via a timer or immediate 1-hour setting and the ample radiators helped provide enough warmth. The cosy sofa was also great for warming up when reading or watching a film in the evening. The only other thing we felt was missing was a hairdryer, but this is a minor quibble. The location is just outside Kendal, literally a few minutes from a Morrisons and Sainsbury's (get your petrol from here before you go exploring further afield). We found we could get to some good walking around Windermere, Coniston, Ambleside, and Grassmere within 30 to 45 minutes, and the scenic drives added to the relaxing nature of our stay. Overall, a tiptop place to stay. Thanks very much to the owners.

We had a really lovely stay at Summerhow.

The accommodation was excellent and we couldn't have asked for better. The place was spotless, nicely decorated and comfortable beds. It was the perfect home away from home. We really enjoyed our week here and would definitely stay again if we were coming to the lake district. It offers lovely gardens and the perfect location for exploring the lakes. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

We had a lovely last minute break away in this well equipped, clean cottage.

Lovely to use the Garden which we sat out in beautiful weather to play board games. We had our dog with us which was welcomed by the owners. I would recommend a stay here as perfectly situated for visiting the Lakes.

A lovely property set in a beautiful stone house right on the edge of the town, it had everything we required for our time in Kendal and our party were satisfied with all aspects of our stay and the ample on site parking was very useful.

Most important in a holiday rental is cleanliness.

And this was spotless! Well done Team Clean!! Apart from that - what a beautiful apartment!! So tastefully furnished. Beautiful pottery, lamps, chairs, cushions. Very comfy beds, lovely bedding and towels. Lovely garden down a private drive. And its just a short drive from Windermere. We really enjoyed our stay. Top marks to Hosts

Quiet location away from main road.

Surrounded by well kept gardens. The house has a light and airy feel with attractive decor. High quality linens throughout A well equipped kitchen with a welcome pack provided. Easy access to the lakes. Supermarkets very close. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking again.

The apartment was extremely clean and well presented including a welcome pack for those arriving after a long journey. Ample parking, lovely grounds and open views.

Lovely and peaceful countryside location whilst only being 1 minute drive from shops which was super convenient. Great location to explore the Lake District from. Highly recommend!

Excellent, great setting very well presented clean could not fault anything

Lovely character property which was very clean and well presented located in a quiet area on the outskirts of Kendal.

The property was one minute drive from local supermarkets; Morrisons, Aldi and Sainsbury’s and a two minute drive/fifteen minute walk from the local pub ‘The Duke of Cumberland’. If travelling in an EV, Sainsbury’s has four fast charging ‘tap and go’ points which took the stress of planning days out around mileage. Great holiday had by all.

This property was one of the best holiday homes our family has ever visited!

! This home was very well equipped and very comfortable with an amazing garden for humans and furry friends!! The scenery around the home was gorgeous!! We travelled with senior citizens and this home was suitable for them. We absolutely loved this place!! ❤️❤️

We loved our stay at summerhow retreat.

It was comfortable and spacious. The only thing I’d mention is the access up to the apartment is a bit difficult for heavy bags or those less able to climb stairs, as they were a bit narrow and slippery. But everything else was excellent. We would definitely recommend this property to others.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Summerhow retreat and it was a delightful experience.

The cottage itself is well decorated, blending rustic charm with modern amenities. The rooms were spotless and comfortably furnished, The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed, making it easy to prepare meals. The location is perfect for exploring the local area.

100% would recommend this property to anyone who wanted to visit the area.

Slight issue with the hot water but contacted the owners and they got it fixed on the same day and allowed us to have a shower in their own property (these things are the little things we appreciate so much more). Sofa and beds were super comfortable and more than enough space in the property. Literally not even 5 minutes from Kendal town centre and local supermarkets. Overall amazing stay :)

Fabulous cottage that was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay.

Beds were super comfortable and the gardens were spectacular. I know there were other guests around but we never heard or saw them during our entire stay. Meet the owner on arrival who was most helpful and even though we arrived a little early everything was ready. Could not fault this cottage it was a delight and we will be staying again in the future. Thanks for a spectacular break.

What a wonderful week we've just experienced staying at Summerhow Retreat.

It's a gorgeous period property and is really well located for us to explore all of the areas of the Lake District. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful. It was the first time we'd travelled using our new electric vehicle and they took all the stress away by allowing us to charge our vehicle overnight, so we were all ready to go each day. The gardens of the property are lovely and allowed us to relax outside each evening, with our children and dog. Thanks for a wonderful break in the beautiful Lakes!

great apartment in a large old house set in beautiful gardens and down a private drive off the A6 near Kendal.

Peaceful setting. Helpful friendly owners. comfortable bed. access to front door is via steel staircase outside the house. our dog wasn't keen at first but got used to it. would go back again.

My family and I had a very pleasant stay at Summerhow Retreat.

The owners made us feel very welcome and provided everything we needed. The property and gardens are beautifully maintained and the handy location is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. We would not hesitate to recommend this holiday property.

This is a lovely secluded spot, just a 20 minute walk to Kendal town centre.

The property is beautifully presented in it's own grounds away from the main road so a good nights sleep is easy to achieve. It's done to a high standard and had some lovely touches from the owners of a little hamper left on arrival. We met the owners while we were there a few times and they could not have been more friendly, welcoming and accomodating to us. All the major Lakes attractions are within a short drive and this provides a perfect "basecamp" to launch your adventures from, plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants within the area too. We'll certainly be returning in the future :-)

Stunning location with great access to the lakes.

The apartment is beautifully & tastefully styled, with every comfort catered for. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped and all equipment of high standard. The bed was super comfortable with high quality linen. The bathroom was nicely decorated and the shower had very good pressure. Everything provided was of a high standard and quality.
