The Lookout

This is such a lovely property.

It does have a couple of very minor flaws; the twin room on the ground floor smells a little damp (but you are directly on the coast) and the shower in the main bedroom upstairs drains really slowly, but the views and the location completely outweigh these. Looking out to the beach/sea during breakfast and hearing the waves lapping at night is incredible. There’s a lot of really good local walks, and it’s very close by to a shop, chippy, and a pub. So all in all it was perfect for me, my husband and the pooch, and we’ve already booked to stay again next year. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay. We’re already missing those beautiful views and we can’t wait to be back.

We had a great holiday at the Lookout.

The main living area has an amazing view and the whole house is decorated to a high standard. We loved the large bifold doors and the bed was comfy. One small improvement would be to provide a small welcome pack - we’ve stayed at other properties that have provided tea/coffee etc. so it would be nice! The downstairs room smelt a bit damp, but this didn’t affect us as we didn’t stay in the single beds on the bottom floor.

Nice property with great views, ideal location for visiting the Lake District.

Used as a base while visiting friends in Haverigg. Highly recommend.

When we arrive at 15.

00 the cleaner was still there and we could not settle in till 3.30, this would of been OK but as we brought our belongings in we was hit be a strange "wet dog smell" also we discovered so many dog hairs around the apartment and some in the freezer but under the fold up bed it was like a barber shop....the owners should be thoroughly ashamed...shame on them and avoid.......I have many pictures!

Modern fresh finished property with fantastic views and a beach on the doorstep.

Very happy with our stay but a few things could be improved such as, a damp musty smell greets you as you walk into the property, the dishwasher isn’t fixed and tips up when you open it. The living area is set out so the tv is too far away (I would put it to the right of the bi-folds). The main bed could do with being a king although it would be a squeeze to get it in and the bathroom needs re-grouting and was a bit mouldy. This being said I would still book again as was perfect for our needs.

As per previous listings, we arrived to a very cold property.

The heating was set to off, and it took all night to heat up the property adequately. It felt as if the property hadn’t been heated for a while. The bedding felt cold that it almost felt damp. The house if beautiful and it’s such a shame little things like no welcome basket and no heating set your impression on arrival. Key safe is also very old and hard to read. It needs a new one. There was a Xmas gift left for the owners we assume, that had been there a while, as well as post. This should be removed by the maintenance and should not be there for guests to see. We would return, but I do have concerns about damp in the property due to its incredible sea front location. We didn’t use the lower bedroom, but it’s clearly damp with paint flaking off all round the patio door and the curtains had been pulled down at some point and put back up wonky. This room smelt damp, luckily we didn’t need to use it. The main lounge is superb. Views to die for, but again, visible damp round the bifold doors. We didn’t dare open these due to the weather. The sun room would also be lovely in summer, but far too windy and cold to use it. Damp signs again where paint is coming off on the landing. Such a lovely property it would be a shame that lack of heating is adding to the damp that being on the coast inevitably creates. We left 2 days early due to the weather but nothing to do with the property. A lot of investment has been spent, would be a shame if proper maintenance affected this

An amazing holiday let that we would definitely return too.

Clean, well equipped, extremely well presented and views to die for. Best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in

Stylishly furnished with plenty of cooking utensils.

A couple of possible improvements would be larger bath towels and some hand soap in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom.

On arrival the house was stunning all top fixtures fittings overall beautiful place and views, there was no welcome pack which was a little disappointing for the price, my main concern was the cleaning, the dishwasher was full of dishes/cutlery all dirty, my first shower the tray filled up i had to stop the shower and remove the drain it was full of hairs and dirt, i left this out for my stay as i wasn't cleaning it, a cleaner kept turning up while i was out and parking in my allocated space so i had to wait for him to leave and then move my vehicle later so i wasn't blocking someone else's, my dog dropped a dog biscuit down the back of sofa when i removed pillow to get it there was all sorts under there.

this is our second stay at the lookout only issue we had was there was no hand soap in the bathrooms and there was quite alot of dog hair so a little more attention needs to be provided to the cleaning

Absolutely beautiful with outstanding views,the cottage was immaculate (and I’m fussy ) right on the seafront so it was so quiet and a really relaxing holiday.

Lovely to visit if you want to switch off from life, just open the bifold doors and relax. The only downside is I don’t cook on holiday and it was really hard to find somewhere to eat as the local pub and chip shop only served at lunchtime. The Ski bar on the caravan park is highly recommended,

We've wanted to stay here for a while as we've stayed at properties along the front before and we saw this property being renovated.

It didn't disappoint! We loved the views and the birdwatching from "The Lookout" It's got really good fixtures, fittings and furnishings, very comfy sofa & chairs. well stocked kitchen tools, pots & pans. Great parking, right at the front of the property. A bit of constructive criticism would be to put the heating on the timer for when guests arrive, it was turned off and was very cold when we arrived, it took some heating up. Also just a little welcome pack of milk, coffee, tea and maybe a couple of biscuits for arrival would have been very welcoming as we had a rushed day and it would have been nice to catch our breath with a cuppa before going shopping. But the washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets were helpful as were the sponge/cloth, but no tea towel provided which was a shame. We will definitely be back as we had a great stay!

Fabulous property, ideally placed.

Everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Perfect home from home. Conservatory an added bonus, could spend hours sitting and watching the changing tide, skyline and birds. Wonderful stay, and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

It was the perfect break for us all. We can’t wait to come back!

Fantasic place to stay, view from the lounge and the conservatory is outstanding like an ever changing picture.

The look out is well equipt with everything we needed for our stay. Only one slight gripe maybe a sign saying mind the step in the conservortory as my wife and i did both go "A over T" because of the step.

The lookout was very clean and instructions for use were clear and concise.

Lovely property, view was amazing.

Sun room was the highlight. This is a very small place and we arrived on the Saturday but didn't bring cash, the post office opens on the Monday so you might want to bare this in mind. There was a helpful book but the contact number is out of date so that explained why we got no reply when there was a problem with the heating. We still had an amazing stay.

Dog friendly beach. Really enjoyed our holiday and would come back.

Everything was great with the house, except for towels- providing one towel per person for a weeks stay is not acceptable.

I did ask for more towels but was told that one was sufficient because it was self catering and we had a washing machine - has anyone ever tried to wash/dry towels in a day especially in the rainy Lake District. Having stayed in self catering properties in a number of countries worldwide - this is definitely not the norm.

This place was amazing, so clean, fresh, new.

It had everything we needed and more. Spent so much time in the 'glass house' observatory, sky house... I simply cannot fault this place at all. Hats off to the owners for the impeccable finish they have done to this beautiful little, ( tardis like) cottage. Would so not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. The Lookout was absolutely lovely.

We had a great week, relaxing and watching the sea. Just what we needed. We will be coming back for sure. Thanks very much

Really great accommodation and location.

This is a wonderful property with spectacular views across the coast.

The accommodation was really well equipped, clean and comfortable. If you want peace and quiet and to walk miles, then this accommodation is the perfect choice.

We had a couple of issues, The telephone number in the book of instructions was out of date the housekeeper no longer worked there.

also two of the blinds where not working properly. The key safe instructions would have been helpful ,as we struggled to get the safe open.But once reported all issues were quickly put right.. We enjoyed our time at the Lookout it is very comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Great stay in fantastic home.

The property has amazing views over the estuary with the large opening front lounge window and roof conservatory. Spotlessly clean in every part of the home. Kitchen modern with every facility needed. Beds very comfortable. A totally relaxing stay experience and we hope to return.

The layout , views ,amenities in the holiday home are stunning the fully opening glass doors with views out to the sea are breath-taking.

The town itself is fairly remote however nice caravan park next door with a good restaurant/café " the ski bar". The local hotel/pub the harbour bar despite how it looks is really friendly. Lake Windemere tour recommended the harbour to go is "lakeside" its only 30 minutes away. The only criticism is my wife wants to buy half the décor from the house :) Thanks

Me and my partner stayed for 3 nights the accomadation is absolutely 100% cant fault it one bit, we stayed out all day and came back around 4-5pm went to the local tesco 5min drive and enjoyed the quiteness of the village right from the comfort of the living room by simply opening the bi-folding doors absolutly stunning views.

Lovely cottage, the window in the living room is a real show stopper.

We had a lovely family stay here and would definitely come back, (our 6 year old son wanted to move in permanently!) All modern facilities and decoration we had no complaints.
