“We were a bit disappointed with how things were when we arrived.”
Unfortunately, the property didnât feel as clean or well-prepared as weâd expected. The floors were visibly dirty, we vacuumed, some of the bedding had hair and fluff that we had to remove with a lint roller. The cottage was also full of spiderwebs.
One of the bathroom radiators wasnât working, which wasnât ideal for this time of year. There were also a few maintenance issues, like ripped cushions and some missing floor tiles, which affected the overall comfort and feel of the place.
We also struggled a little with the lack of basic information and supplies. There werenât any instructions for the appliances, which made them tricky to use, and items like the lighters (with no fuel) and the torch (with no batteries) werenât actually usable. And a lack of handwash.
Overall, the property just didnât feel up to the standard we were expecting, and it did take away from our stay.
Hi Jacqui, thank you for your message and I am truly sorry that this was your experience. At the Lodge, we want our guests to always feel welcome and comfortable so I was concerned to read your comments as that is not the standard we aim to provide, and I appreciate how this would have affected your stay.
We were in contact during your stay, but I remained unaware of any issues. Had I been aware of them at the time, I would have done my best to address these during your visit, whether by arranging replacement supplies or having someone attend to the radiator and any maintenance concerns.
Thank you also for highlighting the lighter and torch ran out. While we do our best to keep these items stocked for guests, these can naturally run out. Iâm sorry that this happened during your stay, Iâll ensure these are changed ahead of the next guests arrival.
I also appreciate your comments regarding the appliance information. A guest information booklet was sent ahead of your stay, but I will review this to make sure the instructions are as clear and useful as possible.
In relation to the floor, I should clarify that this is an original reclaimed 1920s floor, so its aged appearance, markings and areas of variation are part of the intended character and finish rather than damage or stains.
I am sorry again that your stay did not meet expectations, and I do appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
Wishing you the very best,
Tash
