“We had a great stay.”

We loved Dairy Cottage. The hosts were super helpful. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed. It was a very good base for us and very easy to get to. The village is v quiet which suited us perfectly. There is no phone signal for EE there but the WiFi is v good. There is no shaver point in the bathroom so remember to take an adaptor if you need it. We look forward to returning.

It’s exactly has pictured and stated, beautifully restored with a fabulous attention to detail throughout. The owners have literally catered for every need you might have (or item you may have forgotten). Spotlessly clean, a perfect place to call home during your stay. Situated with easy access to main routes to get around the Lake District/Cumbria. We’ll definitely be revisiting.

“Our 3 nights at Dairy cottage was lovely, we were blown away with the furnishings and decoration of this lovely cottage from its cool interior with the very thick walls ,to the extra thoughts on making sure we had everything to make our stay comfortable.”

The sofa and chairs in keeping with the cottage are like new and the bedrooms are modern and comfortable,plenty cupboard and drawers.the only thing i found a little frustrating is that the sockets are all behind cupboards upstairs but I didnt have a problem pulling a bedside table out, maybe a full length mirror on the landing where the little 1 is would also be nice but it was everything we hoped it would be. The welcome pack was lovely and we enjoyed the biscuits! The rest we brought with us as we knew there was no shop close by. Thankyou and good luck for the rest of the summer.

Most of all it was so clean and cared for. We intend to go again! Just a note for the owners. I have a similar cooker hob and have tried ALL the cleaning products! I find Hobrite the only good one- you can buy it cheaply in the pound and bargain shops.

Books, games, plenty of info of where to go or visit. Well stocked cupboards of cutlery, cooking utensils. Clean comfortable beds I cannot fault the cottage at all. Would recommend 100%

“Diary cottage is the best equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in, it was such a relief when we got there not to have to worry about what we had and didn’t have especially with 2 small children.”

The pictures don’t do the cottage justice, the area is fantastic the cottage beautiful and we had a lovely family holiday (despite some rather wet days). Would recommend others to book diary cottage, the welcome gift pack was a lovely touch. Hope to be back soon.

“My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay at Dairy Cottage, which was a very clean and well appointed property in a quiet location close to some interesting sites such as a stone circle and two castles.”

We had a lovely lunch at nearby Pooley Bridge at the northern end of Ullswater lake. I can wholeheartedly recommend this cottage if you plan on visiting the Lake District.

Absolutely everything about this cottage worked for us, from the ample parking space right through to the tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished interior. Also, the hot water comes on to heat at night when you’ve gone to bed. We had to turn it off so we could get to sleep but then we had no hot water.

The only criticism is the WiFi was sketchy so if you wanted to communicate with loved ones abroad, it was hit and miss. The cottage itself is WONDERFUL...comfortable furniture and beds, very clean and everything you need kitchen and bathroom wise, great value for money.

“Dairy cottage was situated in a quiet little hamlet and was just perfect for our holiday!”

It was spotlessly clean and tidy, so cozy and comfortable with everything you could possibly need! The owners definitely go the extra mile, the homemade cake was delicious and the milk and welcome tray was a lovely gesture. The Strickland Arms was just a few minutes drive away and was a lovely setting to sample the local beer and have a meal. There were several local walks that we did - the cottage had plenty of leaflets and information about walks and other things to do and see in the surrounding areas. Lovely cottage and lovely holiday!!!

Also, the inclusion of a 'welcome tray' made us feel instantly at home as we sat down for coffee and cake (gorgeous by the way) before we'd even unpacked. We would heartily recommend Dairy Cottage - a real home from home in a beautiful part of the country - what's not to like !!

There were lovely Christmas decorations above the fire place and a little tree which were lovely thoughtful touches. A very kind welcome gift was also left for us which was very much appreciated. Well stocked kitchen with everything you could require. Very comfortable beds and furnishing and spotlessly clean. We throughly enjoyed our stay would recommend.

“We really enjoyed our recent visit to the lovely Dairy Cottage.”

We used the cottage as a base to explore the Lake District and although the weather wasn’t kind some days, that didn’t stop us making the most of the week and exploring. The cottage is just as pictured, very clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We had 2 teenage girls with us and I was a little concerned that the second bedroom was going to be a squeeze but was pleased to find that it was bigger than it looked and a decent size for the two of them. The homemade chocolate cake on arrival was a lovely touch and there was lots of information provided on the local amenities and area - which was also really helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

“Quite often you see pictures of places in brochures or on website, and when you arrive, you are left slightly disappointed.”

It’s not what it looked like in the photos. Definitely not the case here. I would even say the photos don’t do the Dairy Cottage enough justice. The place is immaculate. Has a cottage feel about it while still feeling modern. Beds were very comfortable too. Normally getting a good sleep is difficult when it isn’t your own bed. Not here, everyone slept really well. There’s plenty of things to do and places to see for families within an hours drive of the cottage too. I would highly recommend the Dairy Cottage to anyone and the same for booking through Sykes Cottages. Would use both again with no hesitation. Absolutely no issues with anything whatsoever. Thank you.

The village itself is surrounded by open fields, supporting cattle, sheep and horses. The nearby market town of Penrith offers a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. Why not visit the Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith, or nearby Lowther Castle Gardens and Bird of Prey Centre?
